Batman: Arkham City Screenshots [Teaser Post 535]

Major fan of the first, it was brilliantly and intelligently designed, perfectly paced and the best executed comic book game of all time.

But im really hoping they push 'fear' with AC. I want enemies break apart psychologically when ther're team starts to shrink in numbers.

I'm loving Catwoman's design, and the better direction to Harley...

Batman should've gotten some improvements though because I still don't like how he looks, but the rest of the game looks amazing though...

Hope Rocksteady knocks it out of the park again with this one again, and gets the sales they deserve...

two face could use a little work but come on guys all this harley griping is unfounded plus guess what happened last time the fans griped? Infamous' main character cole got transformed into the stupidity he is now.

Like I said all she needs is a mask and I'm sold it's a really good design other than the eyeshadow. Also if Penguin is in this I will be a very happy camper.

The minus is that we'll probably never get to see the animated series Harley in a video game. It might not fit the grimdark universe of AA though.

If it fits the comics universe, which gets way fucking darker than AA could hope to be, I think Harley's classic costume would be fine.

This studio are pretty cool, they had made one mediocre very forgettable game, and were elevated to the top tier of studios with one release, I can't wait to see more of the game, the screens look great.

Batman is still a bit too bulky for my taste, but still looks good. Catwoman definitely looks nice, and Harley Quinn looks better though I just hope he voice actress won't be as annoying this time. The lighting seems to be an improvement over its predecessor.

That is Harley's voice and character though. Her VA is the same as TAS.

I hope they don't have you treading back and forward through the same zones again this time round. I enjoyed AA up to about halfway through then suddenly was put right off it.

Also: boobs.

Sooo....let me be the first to say that i actually prefer AA's Harley over this "improved" one.

Catwoman looks half asian :/

Who gives a shit though, this game will fucking RULE :D

I didn't know you guys were expecting a full Jester suit. I think she looks reasonably good, although slightly steampunk. But still very believable in Bats' world.

Why not? We just had a game with a guy dressed up as a bat, a giant cannibal that looks like a crocodile, a guy with needles on his fingers, a green skinned woman who controls plants and a pale face sociopathic clown in a purple suit. Oh and Clayface.

But a girl in a jester body suit is just too over the top.

Not to derail the costume topic or anything, but that Clayface scene was one of the coolest moments in gaming this generation.

If you have read the Alan Moore Clayface story, there is a nice little reference in his cell.

I don't think I have. But thanks to Wikipedia, I know now Hagen is dead? Alan Moore's Clayface was a copycat character?

THIS.

It's disappointing to me in a sense because it seems that instead of staying true to the comic Rocksteady has instead went the route of over-sexualizing of characters.

I'm sure the game will be fantastic, I'm just not a fan of where it seems they're going with character design.

No the Clayface Moore worked with was the third, Preston Payton. But I think the Clayface in the cell was Basil Karlo, the first. I think. They mixed it up for some reason.

The content in those shots are more impressive than the detail anyway.

Edit: Just give me ONE scene where I can drive the batmobile flat out. Doesn't have to be combat or goal oriented. Just let me speed down some lonely forest road scattering fallen leaves in my wake while music builds. Let me see a nice shot of batman, ensconced in the cockpit, brooding, lit up from the glows of various bat-gauges on the dash.

Hell, it can be during the credits. I don't mind. Just let me drive fast in that thing.

Hopefully a lot because this is the last of Mark Hamill we get :(
That's also what he said last time, though...

Any clue on what comic stories this is drawing from? Knowing the references to Arkham Asylum: Living Hell in the first game made it that much more enjoyable.

You're mad, one of the best things the first game had going for it was its Metroid-like progression. If anything I want to see it used more; making a mental note of something you couldn't access then going back when you got the right item, only for it to contain something as humdrum as a single Riddler solution, was not enough payoff.

Nah the worst part of the the backtracking in AA was you'd get an item and think "Sweet now I can get in that one room I skipped!" only to backtrack and find the entrance to that area is now blocked off with Ivy's vines.

Those are full bull but the game is going to be fantastic. The fact their (rocksteady) mindset is to not rest on their laurels and instead make a bad ass city environment is really encouraging.

In that first pic of Harley the thug on the right has a bicep wider than her torso.

And the one on the left is skinny. Are you people purposely ignoring things just to be negative?

I think the character designs are all looking fantastic; my sole objection is Catwoman's ridiculously low cleavage. She looks incredibly classy in all other respects and you can make Catwoman (of all characters!) perfectly sexy without just cheaply baring too much skin.

Who the hell complains about too much cleavage?! Seriously man.
