THE DAWN OF ALL-OUT WAR
Experience the origins of modern warfare where the old world was destroyed, giving way to the new one. Use the innovative, modern weaponry and vehicles of World War I as you battle across the land, air and sea.

NO BATTLE IS EVER THE SAME
Dynamic weather and intuitive destruction create an ever-changing landscape. Make your mark on the world, whether you're blasting craters in the ground with artillery strikes or ripping apart walls with gunfire.

MASSIVE BEHEMOTHS
Pilot some of the largest vehicles in Battlefield history. Rain down fire from the sky in a gargantuan Airship, tear through the world in the Armored Train, or bombard the land from the sea in the Dreadnought.

Elite Classes
Flame Trooper is Wrapped in fire-resistant gear and carrying a powerful flamethrower, the Flame Trooper brings with him chaos. He's far from indestructible, though. Part of his kit has him permanently affixed with a gas mask, slowing him down and keeping his vision lowered. Attack from afar, and you might escape un-scorched.

Sentry, who is strapped with thick armor plating. The Sentry moves like a human tank, equipped with a water-cooled machine gun at his hip. He can shower enemy positions with lead while still being able to withstand a lot of damage, but unlike the Flame Trooper, he can't wear a gas mask at all.

Tank Hunter use of the 1918 Tankgewehr, an absolute beast of a weapon that can lay waste to enemy infantry and vehicles alike (so long as the Tank Hunter is prone). A well-placed shot from this weapon is capable of knocking out a vehicle's tracks, machine guns, or cannons on armored vehicles. They don't call it the Tankgewehr for nothing.

Horses
While they might not be as sturdy as tanks, they're still effective in close-quarters combat. Their speed and agility means they can trample enemies under their powerful hooves, and they'll get you close enough to slash them down with a saber. If you prefer to stay back a bit, you'll have access to powerful rifles for medium range combat that can be fired from horseback. The Cavalry class will spawn onto a horse from the Loadout screen. Horses are even effective in anti-vehicle assaults using grenades – you can run circles around the slower mechanized vehicles and harass them with explosives. Horses also have a secondary use as a mobile supply station of sorts, so in addition to these offensive capabilities, players can drop ammo and bandages from the saddlebags to assist team members and help them stay in the fight.

Battlepacks
Battlepacks from the ground up with a focus on customization. You'll get Battlepacks for playing multiplayer matches, and when you crack one open, you'll find an awesome Weapon Skin, which come in three rarities: Special, Distinguished, and Legendary. Some packs may also include a piece of a craftable unique melee weapon. Special melee weapons need to be built, and you'll find the puzzle pieces inside. Collect ‘em all, and you'll have a new weapon at your disposal. Besides including a Weapon Skin and melee weapon piece, there's another surprise that could be inside. When you receive a Weapon Skin or an item you don't want or need you can salvage it for Scraps, an in-game currency that can then be spent on new Battlepacks. Spending Scraps is the only way of getting hold of Enhanced Battlepacks (which guarantee a Distinguished weapon skin) and Superior Battlepacks (which guarantee a Legendary weapon skin). Battlepack content will shift regularly, with new Revisions changing up which Weapon Skins and items are currently available. Before you open up a Battlepack you will see a list of what skins the current Revision contains, letting you know if the skins you want is currently available in the pool of possible items.

Battlefied 1 is a 64 player first-person shooter that emphasizes teamwork. The game is set during World War 1 and inspired by historic events. Players can make the use of World War 1 weapons and control various armored vehicles. Melee combat was reworked with a variety of different types of melee weapons. Destructible environments and weapons customizations return and will be more dynamic.

The game features a class and squad system. There are no best class, since each class has certain advantage and disadvantage over each other. Being able to pick the right class at the right time can have a massive impact on the match. For example, picking an Assault will be more helpful when there are tanks and close range combat. While on wide open maps, picking a Scout to spot and engage at longer distances will be better. While being a medic to keep your teammates alive while capturing an objective can be useful as well. Joining a squad will allow you to spawn on them in matches and supporting your squad members will earn you extra points. Squad leaders can mark objectives such as attacking a flag or defending. Completing the marked objective will earn extra points to your score.

According to the game designer, World War 1 was picked as the setting since the developers believed the weapons from the era will allow different playstyle. In addition to having a variety of locations. The game was named Battlefield 1, since the developers consider World War 1 as "The Dawn of All-Out Warfare"

Armed with light machine guns to provide sustained fire to take out enemies or suppress. their weaponry is fit for close and medium range and typically has a high rate of fire, letting you lay down a steady stream of bullets towards anyone you'd rather keep in one place. Their Gadgets can keep teammates resupplied and repair vehicles.

Long-range specialist, able to take out enemies from afar with powerful sniper rifles. They are instrumental for team play as well - the Scout class can use its range and Gadgets to provide reconnaissance to their team, surveying the area and calling out locations for their teammates, and or help protect positions.

Battlefield 1 Review thread

MjYJkNc.png

Q: Where are the French or Russian?
A: The French and Russian will be feature in a specific expansion pack.

Q: Why are there X, Y, Z?
A: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am sure your X, Y, Z has been talked about up. There is most likely a thread regarding X, Y, Z. Please contiune the discussion there.

Q: I don't like the female announcer, can we change it?
A: You can change the female announcer to a male announcer in the game.

Q: I thought World War 1 was all Trench Warfare?
A: The Western Front was mainly trench warfare was till 1917.

Q: Hi I am a new player and I feel overwhelm by the multiplayer. Any suggestions?
A: Feel free to ask any questions. I and other community members will be willing to play with new players to help them out.

Q: I just hit a tank with a shell and it did no damage!
A: Depending on the angle, shells can bounce off and do no damage.

Q: Why do the assault rifle suck?
A: There are no assault rifles in the game. The assault weapon is a submachine gun with limited range.

Q: Do you show up on the map when you fire?
A: No you only show up on the map when spotted.

Q: Can you spam the spot key like in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4?
A: From my experiences, its much harder to spam the post key.

Q: I am more interested in World War 1 now, any suggestions?
A: There are codex entry in game. Also check out The Great War Youtube channel. The channel shows you the history of the First World War in the four years from 1914 to 1918, exactly 100 years ago. The host Indy takes you back week by week and shows you what was going on in the past.

Q: So what is next for DICE?
A: "PANZER VOR!"
Personally I am hoping DICE will make another WW2 Battlefield game.
I believe a new Star Wars: Battlefront is coming out next year. In addition
Speaking at Nasdaq's 35th Investor Program, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen said the company would not have a new Battlefield game for ”a couple of years," opting to focus on a new Star Wars Battlefront. The Battlefield series has released titles with wider gaps in recent years.
Source

Q: Why are you so slow?
A: First time doing a OT :(

Special thanks to Milkham for helping me with the artwork, banners, etc! In addition, I would like to thank DICE for making the battlefield series, my friends and family for always supporting. me. And lastly I would offer a greatest thanks to the families of soldiers. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
This is my first time making a OT, so I hope you guys enjoy it and don't be so harsh if it's not up to standard.

One day I'll love this game, the next day I'll hate it, only to start back up again the next. DICE is such a bother.

It's such a shame I have so many games right now to play. It's hard to manage BF1, Uncharted MP, Destiny, FF14, and Drawn to Death at the same time D:

That DLC can't come soon enough, I need it in my veins.

Do people still play this?

I used to love playing Battlefield on last gen consoles.

Pretty much jumped onto next gen because I saw the X1 cheap and wanted to play BF, but I played it for like 2 weeks and it didn't grip me at all...

I know I've gone off gaming in general but theres something missing with BF1 for me.

It's not just you man.

I have fun every single time I play but I definitely don't have an urge to come back to this game like I did BF3 and BF4.

I'll play for like 5 hours every 2 weeks or so then come back usually with an update for another 5 hours or so.

I wish it had more variety, maps, and customization.

Not to mention the vehicle combat feels pretty dumbed down when compared to the prior games. Obviously there wasn't as much as they could do with them, but having hardly any transport vehicles around really hurts and the ones that are around drive horribly. No idea why they didn't grab Hardlines vehicle handling.

Not to mention the game just feels toned down from BF4. I hardly ever see anyone heal vehicles because they made it just about obsolete, no helicopters around to transport large amounts of players, pretty much non-existent sea warfare.

For the next game I really hope they do a neat period like the 90s.

Yeah I still play it atleast a 2-3 hours a week? Sometimes more but with Persona 5, my BF1 time has been down.

The single player for this game is o e of the worst in recent memory. Such a great premise, yet the writing and gameplay is absolutely atrocious.

I play it almost everyday, but it took me a while to get a hang of it and enjoy. Almost dropped it at some point. Then again, this is my first BF so I can't compare.

I just need to beat it on hard to get all the trophies...RIP
Snow maps will be a nice change of pace. How long before they show actual gameplay from that pack?
Assuming if it's similar to "They Shall Not Pass" then a month before? So May or June depending on when the DLC is release. I am hoping May with a release in June. 3 months in between for each DLC seems nice.

Do you guys think that we'll get a new behemoth in the new expansion? I would have thought yes, but the Battlefield update on the main menu UI shows a train in the snow. For each of the maps in They Shall Not Pass, none of the old behemoths appear on them.

Just food for thought.

I did a quick Google search for "huge WW1 machines" and got this:

Man, I have the game on PC and I decided to launch it today after not playing it since December and It's impossible to find an Operation server with people actually playing...

Is this game dead? Where's everyone? it's sad cause I used to love BF4 and I played about 100 hours in BF1 from release until december and now I can't even play when I feel like it cause no-one is playing it anymore.

Does everyone's playing the DLC maps only or do they have the same problem too?

You can no longer use the Operations tab to find an Operations match, you have to use matchmaking. It's just bad design that makes the falling population even worse.

Even then, majority of the time you'll be waiting in near empty servers for 15-20 minutes before a game starts. Outside of Conquest, the game is dead on PC. Sadly, like most other multiplat MP games. I'll be getting a Scorpio for my Battlefield and other MP needs in the future. I'm a PC gamer first and foremost, but I'm done dealing with dead MP games on PC.

Which sucks, because Conquest is terrible in BF1. Player movement in BF1 is so fast that it turns the huge maps into a small free for all corner where everyone is running everywhere shooting everything without thinking or planning ahead; and the lack of 32 player servers means that there is a player running into you every 7 seconds.

Conquest is still my bread and butter and I wouldn't call it terrible, mainly because I like the core gameplay and feel of the combat, but I definitely find a number of changes DICE has made to conquest and gameplay to be terrible. They're not enough to completely erode my enjoyment, but man has DICE sucked a lot of the identity out of Conquest 64.

Battlefield 1 is really weird like that. I still really, really enjoy it and think it's a great game. But in many ways it feels like an unusual offshoot of the Conquest 64 / Battlefield template, and not necessarily as enriched or complex as the Conquest 64 I've come to know. I feel the chosen time period partially contributes to this; you simply cannot have the vehicle, equipment, and map layout diversity of a "modern warfare" game in a period that inherently lacks a lot of the sandbox-like goodies. But still, little changes like removal of ticket bleed go a long way towards detrimental impact of CQ64 identity and balance.

Granted I am not a big player of BF1, my time has been spread across the PS4 and PC and I am a level 20 on the former and a 15 on the latter. Saw it was some event weekend and decided to hop on (premium on both platforms) and on PC I gave up as it was just waiting for rounds to start with about 6 people just chattting. Mainly Operations so perhaps that was it, but I am just genuinely asking, has the community just up and died on PC or was it the mode? Hopped on PS4 and got into a match right away. Just seemed so backwards to me (been playing BF since inception so it is and always will be a PC game first for me).

I just want to note that I haven't been able to play a single match on Rupture that wasn't aggressively weighted in favour of the Germans. It's been an awful experience every time.

BF1 is losing it's player population gradually, Operations was the first main mode that felt it on PC.

It's bad enough on PC that the 3 year old BF4 has half the population that BF1 has.

Totally agree. Did an hour match earlier and every building and wall was leveled by the end of the match. Totally drained me. I always feel burned when a team just gets rolled in 10 minutes.

Numbers of Bf1 players. There is a reason why I switched over to PS4 :lol

Copying from OT1.

On my GTX 1080 the newest driver update (Creators edition for windows) with the Windows Creators update is an instant crash in full screen mode. Avoid like ze plague!

PC version here. Has anyone had any weird things happen when you get revived?

Some things that happened are, I changed class, and just today I couldn't look up or down just left and right, which fixed itself when I was killed and revived again. Playing using Bone controller btw.

I got revived in a different location from where I died, but that's about it.

Isn't that what usually happens when your body "moves" after getting killed but your camera doesn't? For example, you die on top of a hill where the kill cam then appears, but your body falls down the slope for the medic to revive. I notice it too with explosive deaths.

I'm not noticing any other revive glitches anymore. At least not like the gun getting stuck in the shooting animation after being revived.

Chemin des Dames, 1917.

The moon, the searchlights, and the artillery lights up the night skies, exposing the vast network of trenches. Bite and hold as your foe will fight for every inch of ground. Strategy and teamwork will overcome those who have neither

Cool that we're getting new maps that are separate from the DLC packs but this probably means that the next DLC isn't coming until at least July :(

I was hoping for May or June.

Love to get into some games with you GAF fellows.

Also, I keep beating this HDR horse. AND I WILL NOT STOP.

Just had some games tonight after a while off and had round after round where a pilot went 70-80 to 0 in every round (he had over 25000 airplane kills according to his medal). Nice of DICE to nerf the AA cannons and even have them blown completely off the map so you have no counter from the anilhilation from above. Not that it really would've mattered as he could take you down on the cannon far, far faster than you could damage him significantly and even then thats not taking into consideration that while you're on the AA you're a sitting duck to snipers. GG DICE GG

But maybe it's to be expected as DICE has been appeasing pilots since BF3.

Oh, and just to add a little extra spice to the mix, it now appears that players can get on top of the out of bounds area at B on Argonne Forest where they cant be shot but shoot at their enemies without reply.

This is a crazy mad revisionist narrative. DICE has been making it worse and worse for pilots since BF3; BF1 is the first time in a long time where pilot gameplay actually became feasible and fun outside of the niche BF piloting community. It also took tons of patches and balancing to even get planes this decent in BF1; it used to be a miserable experience on a plane, constantly getting shot down and not being able to compete in the scoreboards.

They finally have planes in a really good place in BF1; only thing that is lacking is the tiny numbers of planes they allow at a single time (only two planes per team is way too low), and the nerfing of the backwards gun in aircraft (it is mostly useless now against planes, and it was never any good against ground targets either).

Planes should not be able to go 70-80 and 0. No vehicle or class should. If that happens once in a while thats one thing but in this case, it happens faaar too often which is usually a sign of a problem.
