Battlefield 4 feels like a new game now

Because I do think that 60fps is a big advantage to other players?

I'm not slamming PC gaming, I do my share of gaming there but I have a overclocked PS3/360 which is not enough to run games at full res and steady 60fps. In a FPS I think that would really matter.

What is up with everyone making stupid troll posts these days?

If ya'll want attention so bad, wear bright yellow pants everyday or something. Shit.

Excuse me?

The BF4 beta ran bad on my PC and I'm not interested in upgrading my current rig. I only said that I wish that the 360/PS3 versions actually worked well. I barely completed any matches in the PS3 version because of the crashes and whatnot.

i may pick this up whenever it hits 25 or less. hopefully by then all rubberbanding will be eliminated, even with 64 players. (i have doubts that this will ever happen)

Stopped playing after my 4th reinstall of the game. If things are fixed I'm sure in a week when a bro of mine bugs me again I will plop down. Seems the netcode is more solid if you're mentioning less rubberbanding. Between CSGO and Bf4 making me realize wireless sucks until tweaked right I have a lot of fps stuff to dive back in to.

It's way better. I still start every match with no sound though, and a third of my matches start with me getting stuck in the ground for a minute or two. But at least 64 player Conquest is playable!

I think the game loads the sound in last but still lets you play so you get no sound in the beginning. Happens to everyone I know that plays it.

I only recently discovered how good Rush maps are in China Rising, so that has been keeping me busy lately. Rush in BF4 vanilla sucks the same kind of ass that BF3 did, but China Rising feels much closer to BC2. Wish I would have known sooner.

It's a sorry state of affairs when a AAA game finally starts feeling complete 5 months away from a sequel being released. Pure horseshit.

I played it for the first time about a week ago on PS4 and was wondering what people were complaining about. It was great. Guess this explains it.

It does take a while to load in all the assets at start, particularly the sound for some reason, but that really doesn't bother me. The game was a joy to play.

You don't teleport all over the map thanks to rubberbanding anymore but dying around corners, etc is still extremely common and probably won't ever go away.

Well this is good to hear, may reinstall my PC version then. I have Premium and haven't even touched it in a long time, haven't messed with the last two expansions at all.

It does run really well now but there are still a few issues

1. It still takes 5 seconds for my gun to appear on my first spawn into a map

2. Sometimes if I hold the options button to check the score after being killed, the sound will go all weird as if I'm underwater. Pausing the game fixes it but it's still weird.

3. Being shot when I'm already around a corner. I'm not big on why this happens but it's really annoying when I dive into cover only to be shot and the guy isn't close to being in my line of site

4. If I have a weapon and attach an optional 2x zoom the zoom will stop working if I'm killed and revived. Sometimes the sites work the wrong way around as well

Not really big issues in the grand scheme of things but they can be annoying.

I remember reading an article from kotaku about BF4 getting fixed.

The problem was related to "tickrate," or how many times the game updates the positions of bullets, counts damage, etc. Battlefield 4 uses a tickrate of 10Hz, or 10 times per second. Games like Call of Duty usually use 30Hz, and some like Counter-Strike go as high as 60Hz. So when you fired a bullet at a certain distance, it would be intersecting with a player for two ticks instead of one, and the game would count it as two hits. The fix for that was to make sure the game never counted the same bullet twice, but the tickrate remained the same.

Unfortunately, the low tickrate seems to be responsible for other bugs, like "trade kills," where players get killed by a player they just killed who managed to fire off an extra bullet or two before the game realized they were dead.

Well, one of the first updates in the CTE was an update to the tickrate that raised it to 30Hz. Luckily, it seems to have made a huge difference, and responses have been pretty good from the Battlefield community.

Can't believe it was so low to begin with and it took so long to finally update it to CoD levels.

platform?

So they finally fixed it and I can get into it now (PS4 version)?
shiiit OP edited, I'm on PS4

Not a surprise with the magical aimbot like "aim assist".
Hey man, aim assist or not doesn't guarantee headshots :(

Unfortunately the early problems have already alienated much of our usual group.
I'll just wait till Destiny/BF:COPS and keep on dreaming about some super HD remaster of BFBC2.
you just made me super sad, I don't know anything will be ever be as good as BF:BC2 PS3GAF

I have some PSN credit, is it cheaper now?
AZZZZZ! Dunno but let me know when you pick it up!

It's really sad this is considered great progress for this game. Yikes.

I was hyped for the new Squad Join mode when I read about it because I love playing BF4 with friends and we always had a hard time getting or staying in the same team. Tried to play the game yesterday with one friend and I see the feature is not available on PC. We join a Platoon and try to hop into a game. We get separated right from the start and are not only not in the same squad but not even on the same team. What is the point EA?

I just fired up origin first time in 2 months

Looks like i have a lot of updates to download...oh boy.

Thanks for the heads up , love the game but quit because of the horrible constant lag and double kills (I.e you both kill each other)

lol. That's the spirit! Good job, DICE!

never again

If this is true it's great news. I keep saying I'll come back to the game but always find reasons not to. The assignments to unlock guns in one of the newer DLCs really turned me off along with all the latency issues. Maybe I'll start playing again, though I'll be terrible all over.

yep, still getting some 'dying around corners' but it's a relatively minor annoyance compared to the other shit we were dealing with. Don't get me wrong (EA if you're listening) I'd love for that shit to go away.

There is an improvement on PS4 version but rubberbanding is still present. Try playing conquest with 64 players on Lancang Dam....
Yep, conquest needs some more work yet but it's been at least playable for me. I've been sticking with Rush, Dom, CTF, Carrier Assault and TDM.

PSN id = todahawk (PS4) if anyone wants to squad up. I'd love to get the band back together but like dream said, a lot of the PS4GAF group moved on.

Heh. PC-side is just as bad. Most of the modes outside of the obvious one is pretty dead or dying. Launching the game in a broken state certainly didn't help inspire confidence in most of the "hardcore" PC fans.

Not playing Sabotage... come on. That's the best mode BF4 introduced.

So the sound bug(s) is still present? That was by far the most annoying thing for me. How did that not get fixed?

Rubberbanding is gone... hit detection can still be complete shit half of the time unfortunately (PS4). Still really bummed that it's taken this long just to really be able to play 64 player conquest on PS4.

I dusted off my copy a few weeks ago and I am having a blast on PS4. No rubberbanding at all. The only issue I have is getting shot around corners sometimes from that low tickrate. It runs so smooth now for me though! I am having alot of fun sniping helicopters with the SRAW.

Broken, barely playable junk at launch though.

It's fun now, but DLC #4 is probably going to fuck it up again. Some maps still have some crazy frame rate drops though (One of the Naval Strike maps in particular)

Ever since the PS4 version tried to get in my wife's pants, we've not been in the best term. Perhaps the therapy helped.

Dunno, really. Theres all sorts of sound bugs still in the game. Sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes for the game to remember to play the ambient sounds, sometimes it starts with the sound muffled, some times when you spawn in a chopper, the minigun sounds like a pistol, and sometimes gunshots don't have any echo at all.

It's sniper haven now. Kind of annoying.
Yeah, I noticed that on some modes in particular. That's when I bust out a silenced kit and flank like a mofo.

Haven't touched it in awhile but thanks for the reminder... I miss your gentle instruction Seks.

Yes, the game is fixed to the extend that it's finally enjoyable.
