Battlefield 4 skipping Wii U

Lol.

And yet a PS4/XB3 version (who will have an install base of or near zero at this game's launch) is incoming. Good stuff, EA.

No. The system can handle the port, dude.

Maybe, but if it has to be downgraded/is a hassle to get running decently, that will offput devs.

It could be many other things though as I mentioned. Not wanting to fuss with the controller (Nintendo probably ordering them to do something unique with it), the CPU.

As for the PS4/XB3 version, lol. You do know how generations work right? PS4/720 will be well supported from the start, as they are the future, and will have rabid core buyers/extreme attach rate on the small base. Just as 360 was in the day. It will be easy to sell a million on brand new consoles. IIRC Gears 1 sold...a lot on a small base. Halo 3 had something like a near 50% attach rate at the time (again IIRC). Etc.

One thing that points to 320 shaders is Cevat saying they had Crysis 3 running on it. That game is demanding as hell on current gen. Overall my mind isn't made up 160 vs 320, more software is needed to tell.

Edit: Oh and I totally forgot about the meager main bandwidth. Could be another bottleneck.

Yeah, they should pull resources off those versions and throw them behind one which will struggle to sell north of 100k units.

The sales on the PC/PS3/360 will far FAR outweigh the sales on any other platforms, and BF4 likely wouldn't crack 100k on the tiny (<1 mill) install bases of the XB3/PS4 this holiday season either. There's a version coming, though.

Can't even pretend shock in this.

Nintendo might nab the occasional title or port but right now things are pretty much settling into the same pattern as the last few Nintendo consoles have had where third party support is concerned.

Maybe if it was actually selling the story would be different.

The game will sell tons on PS3 and Xbox 360, and majority of people who bought these consoles will mostly likely upgrade. It's not about the install base, it's about luring these people to next gen consoles on which their future business depends on.

Why can't they just say sales are bad instead of beating around the bush?

Well, sales are bad, but sales for PS4/Durango are at zero at the moment. How hard could it be to port the PS360 version with some tacked on gamepad support?

they clearly just don't like Nintendo, it seems. something happened after e3 2011 behind the scenes, lol

I don't play BF on console ever so this is meaningless for most in to the franchise. Why complain this, what was the last BF on a nintendo console?

EA will be EA when it comes to nintendo all talk and no real actions.

Did people expect this game to go to Wii-U? I thought it was going to be PS4/Durango/PC exclusive? I guess not.

Nice spin.

Because that would be the headline on every gaming site on the internet. Might even make its way to the mainstream news. "Game that sells 20 million on 7 year old box won't come to the brand new box because nobody fucking has one"

Inevitable, so no surprises here. Nintendo need to keep working at these companies to bring games to their consoles. If this goes on much longer Nintendo might never get them back.

Almost feels like same cold shoulder EA gave Sega during the DC days.

Hope Nintendo had some foresight to expand their studios heavily, because the Wii U by far, looks to be heavily reliant on in-house software.

yeah, i think after 3 generations of slipping support, we're at that point.

Damn son. Don't worry. I'm sure they'll get call of doody. Imagine it didn't though. Would that be the official 3rd parties withdraw from the wii u moment. Then again EA not releasing their biggest titles on it could be worse.

EA: We're supporting Wii U in an unprecedented manner with a whole lot of fucking nothing. It's our first time doing this, and I have to say, our dev teams are excited about it.

Jeez Nintendo just cant catch a break with third parties. Pretty much screws them over from tons of potential sales, obviously :S

That would make sense if a PS3 and 360 version didn't exist.

No, look at it this way;

They probably have a two-tier development system, High end and Low end.

They have a team working on the low end (PS3/360), I assume easiest because since it's the end of the generation, they already know what they're doing there. And they have a team working on the High end (PS4/NextXbox/PC), which is the most difficult I would assume. Now they have to slap in another team to do a mid-tier WiiU version? Considering how bad WiiU is doing on software sales. Not worth it.

Surely no one is surprised by this, particularly Nintendo fans. Anyone with half a brain knew this was going to happen.

The game and its engine are very scalable.

They'll go wherever the money is.

There was tons of money to be made this past generation in many places where it wasn't taken advantage of (yes, that includes handhelds).

It's kinda funny. Nintendo should just say fuck you to all these 3rd parties and not allowing any of their games on the Wii u. That'd be some classic shit.

So the 3rd party AAA ship has indeed sailed for Wii U. Now it's just about how many smaller devs they can draw in to support the platform in its retirement home.

That's because those platforms have a future for EA and anything they do now is groundwork for the next 5-10 years of development.

BS reason, I bet your not too thin to skip PS4 and Xbox 720, FU EA

If UBisoft is able to get their big games like Watch_Dogs, AssCreed 4 and Splinter Cell on WiiU, no reason for a huge company like EA not too

WiiU is dead... dead dead dead dead dead.
