MH3U is 1080p and 60fps
Apples, meet oranges.

Yeah but he never responds to them.
MH3U is 1080p and 60fps, the former confirmed via the official site, the latter was claimed by Joystiq to be from a Capcom rep.
I expect a number of such from Nintendo's own games down the road.
Apples, meet oranges.
I'm so happy exclusives are coming back in vogue. I hated this communist multiplatform shit where all the games run and play mediocre across several platforms. Exclusives were great because they could optimize the game for each system and gave each platform unique gameplay experiences.
yeah but this one makes no business sense at all imho... nintendo really should reconsider backing platinum on this
so does anybody feel like this is a pretty pointless game on the wiiu?
it didnt sell much on 360 or ps3 (well i think at least in japan it was an okay success on ps3) but on wiiu its probably gonna bomb even harder as the audience the wiiu caters too is either the hardcore nintendo crowd, kids or the people GAF loves so much and calls casuals.. none of those people really will be compelled to buy the game. nintendo crowd doesnt really care about games that are not nintendo, kids will not be able to (half naked woman with hairy clothes will not go through parental controls) and casuals will not even notice.
so the only people that will be remotely interested in this are the so called "hardcore" gamer which will not buy a wiiu for this and already seem to have written the wii u off after the reveal that cod blops 2 has worse framerate then on 360
i think nintendo could probably make another wii__ game that might blow off like wii sports resort or at least sell more then bayonetta 1 did with the money they will invest in the development and publishing of this. I really think its donating money to platinum which they should not do.

Well that bump was completely useless. I want a date!
That's alot of generalizations and assumptions there. EDIT: To elaborate, For one thing, I think nintendo platforms is the most likely place for a game like this to sell, because there is little competition on the platform for this game unlike the ps360 and if nintendo decides to advertise this game to their fans, their fans will buy it.so does anybody feel like this is a pretty pointless game on the wiiu?

also didnt this start as a 360/ps3 multiplat
it will probably just be a quick dirty port with nintendo providing some money for publishing and porting it over... i wouldnt count on optimization.
unique gameplay experience... well yeah that one probably is guaranteed

The only way you foster change is to support it. If you want people to take your platform seriously as a place for third-party games, then you need exclusives and titles that people want to play.
In a way, this is a prestige project. Many movie studios put out prestige pictures that garner them attention and respect while garbage like Batman and Spiderman make the real money. If they make money off this one game, great. If not, it's part of a broader strategy to define the platform and the type of games available for it.
And I also disagree. Everyone should donate to Platinum Games.

not surprising that the bump was to post something pointlessly negative heavily based on speculation.
Why are people including Wonderful 101? That is a Nintendo IP.
Am I the only one who expects Bayonetta 2 to do reasonably well for itself?
Am I the only one who expects Bayonetta 2 to do reasonably well for itself?
Maybe they're trying to build a broad userbase full of casuals and hardcore alike? Titles like Bayo 2 will help in this, whether or not it makes money is just a secondary goal in this case.i think its counter productive
nintendo wants to sell their games primarily and want to sell their hardware secondarily. third party titles sales or third party support is a tertiary goal at best.
i would agree that donations to platinum games was a good idea if they were for charity. but as a matter of fact they are a business/company. donating them money for free will not help them in surviving in the long run
Makes little sense? It fits perfectly with what Nintendo are trying to do with the Wii U. Publishing that Sega football game makes no sense in their view considering the audience it caters to is most likely kids who are already likely to pick up a Wii U.still an oddball release that makes little sense
supporting sega to publish soccer tsuku wiiu would make much more sense imho

That is one disappointing bump.

You do not seem to understand that the money "thrown at Platinum" does not come from the same budget that goes into developing "Wii Sports"-likes.
That budget is called "internal gimme-the-next-crowd-pleaser", while this one is called "win-the-hardcore-back". The latter budget is obviously MUCH smaller than the former, but it is still a valid way to build up a console.
Suggesting that it is charity is laughable, sorry. Bayonetta 2 will most likely be profitable. SEGA is incompetent on many levels, that is why simply profitable would not be good enough for them.
at the end of the day its all money from nintendos warchest

Well you have to spend money to make money.at the end of the day its all money from nintendos warchest
Someone's trying to insist Bayonetta 2 shouldn't exist?
YOU SHOULDN'T EXIST.
Yeah but it's farnham.
...as the audience the wiiu caters too is either the hardcore nintendo crowd, kids or the people GAF loves so much and calls casuals..
yes nintendo is publishing this title but at the end of the day platinum is a third party and will probably not develop for wiiu mainly but rather for the next xbox or ps (given they have the money or get moneyhatted) so its not really a first game.Yes, third-support is lower down the list, but that doesn't mean they want to completely abandon it. They're trying to improve on that end.
First off, you say Nintendo wants to sell "their" games. Well, Nintendo is publishing this title. Second you say Nintendo wants to sell their hardware. A large pool of third-party titles contributes to that.
The prestige factor contributes to hardware sales also. For gamers, a title like Bayonetta 2 becomes ammunition in List Wars. Nintendo (and all platform holders) know this. It's why Sony funded Shadow of the Colossus and those quirky downloadable art games. It's not because they're as profitable as Halo or Mario.
Many companies do moves that aren't immediately profitable. Hell, Sony and MS's entire hardware business is based on this. Paying for CoD timed exclusivity has solidified XBox as the home for that franchise also.
Yes, this won't likely make money in the short term, but it's an investment for the health of the platform.
only thing I know is that I DON'T WANT a Wii U but I WANT bayonetta 2 :S
only thing I know is that I DON'T WANT a Wii U but I WANT bayonetta 2 :S
quirky games like mother 3
psst.. there are plenty of similar games on other platforms.
im getting the wiiu anywaysso does anybody feel like this is a pretty pointless bump? "companies shouldn't secure games for hardware i dont have because (x)", its like trying to repackage the last 67 pages of garbage, but LTTP
psst.. there are plenty of similar games on other platforms.
also nintendos hardware will not sell on third party software.
