Nope. It's easier but the fact that it doesn't have instant death QTEs and bullshit like the highway sequence alone puts it ahead of the original.

After receiving current-generation content like the Super Mario Maker stage and Corrin, as the final part of the presentation started I couldn't imagine that the last announced character could be anyone but the Inklings (though I forgot all about the ballot).

I think it's incredibly obvious now that they're being withheld as the headliner for Smash 5, whether Sakurai returns for it or not. Otherwise a new game a few short years into the life of the NX just wouldn't have anything first-party to add. (And I say that as somebody who voted for Wonder-Red. He's not a generational banner character the way the Inklings are.)
