I remember only two insta-death QTE that relied on timing: the stupid tower that falls in the lava level, and the first Fortitudo boss fight. Those are the only ones I've died on. So maybe there are more, but they're just regular "mash to not die," so I never died on them because they weren't unexpected or based on timing.

Nintendo owns the rights to Bayonetta 2. Nobody can use it without Sega and Nintendo. Who publishes is what determines if something is first party or third party. If a platform holder publishes it it's first party. Thus all games Nintendo publishes are technically first party on a game by game basis. Nintendo doesn't own the IP, but they bought the rights to do stuff with it from Sega, which is different from 3rd party making the game independently and just presenting it on any platform. Rayman Legends and games like it are special cases because they were co-published by a 3rd-party publisher and they have more wiggle room to go to competing platforms. Nintendo obviously footed the bill of Bayonetta 2.

Nintendo doesn't technically completely control pokemon, either, but pokemon games are still first party.

More to the point, Nintendo is likely to be the most eager to fund a Bayonetta 3, as a means to prove that their interest in core games and franchises wasn't some one-off fluke circumstance, especially considering they got the go-ahead for something like this.

Even more to the point... it's not like Sega is ever going to do anything with Bayonetta again without someone footing the bill anyways.
 
Is it just me, or is her voice actress really different?

Ludicrously hyped regardless. I love that they changed the tracers on her attacks based on whether you're using the Bayo 1 or 2 costume.
 
Im really skeptical whether Bayonetta actually "won" the smash ballot, clearly won in Europe but id like to see the results in other countries. The word feasibly negotiable characters makes it odd. I like Bayonetta and glad she's in here but the amount of thought and work put into her already looks like she's been worked on for a while.

I was watching the Direct in my university's cafeteria (Yay for WiFi!) like 2 hours before my sister's graduation ceremony started, and got so hyped when Bayonetta showed up. That reveal totally erased my disappointment for yet another Fire Emblem character (a series I never plan to touch).

Bring on the Umbra Witch!
 
I kinda want Smash now even though I only like it for drunk couch multiplayer. Not simply because my queen Bayonetta is in it now. But the sheer roster, it's not just Nintendo characters anymore. It's a celebration of gaming history.

"Feasibly negotiable" is probably a disclaimer so they don't have to admit the real winner was Goku or Ridley.

Yup. And even if you don't feel like playing, it's fun just to turn on the Replay Channel, pick the character you want to watch, and see high-level matches featuring that character.
