Bayonetta announced for Smash Wii U/3DS

I voted for Wonder Red, but honestly this is probably the best potential outcome. Any version of Wonder Red would be totally hamstrung by the 3DS hardware, and that hamstrung design would likely be carried forward to later titles. Bayonetta looks uncompromised and amazing.

Agreed. I mean, Bayonetta brings the following:
- Two costumes: Her look from Bayonetta 2 -and- Bayonetta 1
----> Alternate colors that are bright and colorful
----> One of her colors is a reference to Jeanne!
- Huge variety of combos, on the ground and in the air
----> Hold buttons to extend combos with gunfire
----> For balance, more combos = more cool-down
- Neutral special includes the classic headstand shot <3
- Side special features follow-up kick on ground for combo openers
- Side special takes different form in air, can be redirected down
- Up special can be followed by jump and used again mid-air
- Down special applies slow-mo status to attacking enemy
- Bat Within to reduce damage when you miss Witch Time by a hair
- Wicked Weaves for all of her smash attacks — great for edge-guarding!
- Effects like magic circles, rose petals, butterflies/wings, the shadow
- Dancing taunt that is long but can be canceled
- The photoshoot pose for a crouching animation
- Final Smash with slow-mo, gauge to fill, and Gomorrah that KOs at 100%
- Stage is Umbra Clock Tower, one of the most classic scenes in the series
----> Huge variety of music, remixed and original, including my favorite, Red and Black
----> Slips in and out of Purgatorio, with appearances by the angels of Paradiso
----> Angels include Inspired and my personal favorite, Fortitudo (a.k.a. face-dragon!)
- Extra trophies including Jeanne, Rodin and Cereza, on top of the Bayonetta trophies
- Use of the crescent moon (Umbra symbol) for her series icon — how perfect!
- Possibly even lines like "If you need to talk to a lady..." (based on trailer)
I'm sure there's even more I'm forgetting to list here. It's amazing how perfect she is in Smash. Hopefully she'll entice more people to check out her game, which includes the unbeatable value of the Bayo 1/2 combo pack on WiiU.

Maybe, maybe not. They have yet to do so for Hyrule Warriors or Mario Kart 8, but they did for NSMBU (though it's fairly different).
It's a coin toss. Maybe they actively want people to use the eShop.
thanks for the responses, hopefully a NX release does happen because I want to get a version with bayonetta on the disk.

Given that they're selling DLC for 5.99 a pop and it isn't all out yet, of course they're not. It might make sense after a couple of years, but by that point the Wii U's audience will have evaporated so much that it likely wouldn't be worth it.
Hopefully they'll do that as I'm planning to get a Wii U next year. Ryu, Cloud and Bayo in the same games? Fighting against each other? I WANT IT NOW!
If nothing else, HW Legends inspires hope for a possible NX super-port that includes new content on top of everything else.
Granted, I know that's standard protocol for Koei-Tecmo, but maybe Nintendo will do something similar for Smash. Could be their equivalent of Ultra Street Fighter IV.

So ironic with this post and that link. Dude in the video said they turned Smash into MUGEN. I totally see it. Smash has been friggin awesome since debut but recent news of Cloud, and even crazy moves of yore like Megaman and Ryu... Bayos just a cherry on top.
It just makes me want to buy a Wii U, if the NX plays Wii U games then extra bonus
And I'll just stomp all the clouds with Bayo.

Yup, there's even an instrumental remix of the song.
Looking at the song list they showed, I don't see the vocal version of it, but there does appear to be a remix where the saxophone takes the place of the lyrics

Everything about this adaptation is just so beautiful. All the little details. Makes me want to replay the Bayonetta games and pray to a merciful Jubileus that we see Bayo 3.

Something occurred to me a few hours ago (I mentioned this in other threads). If Nintendo does make a Smash 4: Complete Edition for the NX Platform, what are they gonna do about Bayonetta? Judging by the rating warning at the start of the Direct...
Bayonetta's DLC pack ended up being rated T despite all of the censoring that Sakurai & Bandai Namco were able to accomplish (Fire Emblem Fates is the reason for the RP rating, since both versions of the game were referenced in name & gameplay). If they include Bayonetta in said Complete Edition, it'd increase the base game's rating, thus limiting the people that Nintendo could advertise the game to. This may be bad news given how hard they're pushing Smash 4 to kids, especially if it's an NX Platform launch title.

I dont see the point, its a T rating wasnt the last Smash game Teen too?
And sold better, its not like Bayo is going full naked on Smash, half at best

What are you talking about? Smash has never been pushed to kids and both Melee and Brawl were rated T. You're drastically overthinking this. This idea that Nintendo only cares about kids is ridiculous and I'm surprised it still exists. Being T rated doesn't restrict them from anything. M yes, T no.
