I didn't play 2 and 3 until the GameCube, so I'm not quite as fond of them as some...perhaps if I'd played them earlier they'd be higher (certainly 2's still an excellent game).

Only title I haven't played is Survivor 2.

Edit: On reading through this thread, CV gets way too much love. That game is pure trash. The story is terrible, the characters are dumb, the voice-acting is pathetic, the cut-scenes are either boring or laughable, the graphics are bland and lifeless for the most and in general the game had way too much annoying backtracking and such.

I admit, the concept was sort of cool, having an island that was basically like an Umbrella concentration camp, but the execution was an absolute joke. And it also brought back Wesker. No thanks.

Code:Veronica also marks the point when the series started going really batshit crazy with the storyline, which has slowly devolved to the point the series is in now. Even Mikami tried to reel it back with RE4, attempting to cut as many ties with the old storyline as possible, but then everyone complained and we got the clusterbork that was RE5.

Im not saying the bottom 3 are shit, there not, but there mostly at the bottom of my list because for me its when they started getting a bit wierd, with cross-dressing wierdos n what not (a bit "japanesey ?", the series has started becoming a bit of a freak show, RE5 did cut alot of that crap out though :D ), instead of bio-outbreak horror. As much as i like Wesker, i hate the whole uber bad guy thing they did with him, should of remained dead from RE1 imo.

These are the good ones. The rest never did much for me, although I've played them all.

edit: Geez, I forgot RE5. I guess that shows what I think of it. :lol It's not really that bad, but it turned out exactly how I hoped it wouldn't: a cheap copy of a great game by a less talented team, despite the better technology and attempted improvements.

Holy shit. Is this what the RE series has come to now? All previous entries were cheesy and stupid, but never to this level.


1. RE2 (multiple scenario & game mode playthroughs, awesome soundtrack, tolerable cast, excellent pacing, tofu & hunk, infinite replayability)
2. REmake (perfect remake. pre-rendered backgrounds are still amazing to this day)
3. RE4 (a bold step but disappointing in abandoning its survival horror aspect)

The rest i dont see as worth replaying. Havent touched RE5....and frankly, dont think i should

Never played more than an hour or so of RE2/RE3.

For Code Veronica and Zero, there were certain points in the game where I said "eff this shit" and bailed. Much quicker for Zero (
mansion pool
) than for CVX (
plane boss fight
).

This is just blatantly stupid.

4 is one of the greatest games of last gen, but it doesn't "exist" to you because they didn't just rehash the same gameplay yet again.

And no, 4 did not "destroy the series for what they really are." That doesn't even make sense anyway.

Had a hard time choosing 2-4...all are such quality games. I went ahead and went with 4 as the second best game simply because of the innovation and having it star Leon, but I love me some CV.

I love the series but I don't know if I could make a list of best to worst.

I love the original and it's remake, it has charm as well as ham, the remake added areas and made the experience even better then before.

RE2 is one of those golden nuggets everyone loves, I love it but not to the extent of the uber fans.

RE3 I dislike, only owned it on the DC but it's still the same game it was when released on the ps1.

The light gun games I have hardly ever touched, a rental novelty for the first one but that was it. Biggest problem was that head shots did fuck all and you could not shoot limbs off like in the older games.

RE0 was fun but felt way too out of place, Rebecca already going through hours of zombie and giant cockroach action only to be scared shitless by Chris (first meeting in the save room) in RE1? oh ooh bad and stupid extra story we did not need!

Code V is up there as a mega favourite next to RE1, love the game so much it feels right and was a great return for Claire, Chris and it was built well, unlike RE3.

RE4 thankfully I got to play on the cube first time around, love the game but was stupid and sold it while at uni, once I own myself a Wii I will return to the game with some waggle action.

RE5 I got for a christmas present after asking for it and after playing to the demo point single player, I stuck it on my shelf until later in the year when I went on holiday and played it co-op with my cousin, playing this with someone else made it much MUCH better but I don't like it at much as RE4. Sold the 360 version end of last year and would buy it again on PC if Capcom port the gold edition extras to PC also, otherwise no more RE5 for me, for now.

As for the other RE games, i've tried them all and I guess I forgot about them.

I don't feel comfortable putting RE5 in there. It barely even registers as an RE game in my mind, so it's hard to rank against the rest.

RE0 had some big problems, still relatively fun.

CV was too ponderous and had too much running back and forth aimlessly.

RE4 is god-like, for reasons I've been over before.

RE2 is the best classic RE, with REmake hot on its heels (the two are interchangeable).

RE3 is very underrated. I really like it.

I love RE4, but I put it at the lowest position because I think it's the least of a true RE experience.
 
I absolutely loved RE3, due to the fact that it offered a lot of options for the player. The ammo making, the dodge technique, the secret bonus weapons and of course, nemesis himself made the game highly replayable for me
