wow RE3 is consistantly at the bottom of your lists
obviously because re4 is where the real change happened. and re5 is just a refinement. but I somewhat agree. I was really disappointed with re5 at first aswell, but have learned to love it.Sectus said:I don't understand how RE5 is getting so much hate while RE4 is getting so much love.
RE5 wasn't a refinement though. The set pieces, enemy design, inventory system, and weapon economy were all decidedly worse.Joseph Merrick said:obviously because re4 is where the real change happened. and re5 is just a refinement. but I somewhat agree. RE3 is great though! You spend way more time in actual Raccoon City (best setting in the history of the series), it introduced The Mercenaries which is a pretty cool challenge mode if you ask me, and the added weapons (via ammo mixing and via killing the Nemesis for rewards) were awesome. It introduced the quick turn, which was an excellent addition. Also it's variable as hell per playthrough based on your actions even though it lacks the Zapping system.onken said:The problem with 3 (and 5 for that matter) is that it lives in the shadow of its immediate predecessor. 2 was such a fantastically crafted game, everyone couldn't wait for the sequel, and what do we get? RE3. 1 character, no A/B playthroughs, whole areas ripped right out of RE2, storyline a total rehash of 2, no cool challenge modes, lamer weapons Bleh.
I couldn't agree with you moreSectus said:I don't understand how RE5 is getting so much hate while RE4 is getting so much love. RE5 is based on the same game, just with a ton of improvements... coop, smoother aiming, better quick aiming, drastically improved mercenaries mode, no Ashley to escort around, realtime inventory, proximity mines, stomps!
This man is right. Kudos.badcrumble said:RE3 is great though! That's quite the understatement.Odious Tea said:Did RE5 rape your dogs and steal your wives? It wasn't as good as RE4, but holy hell!

With that logic, RE1 should be on top of everybody's lists alongside RE4. RE1 and RE4 are the only two games in the series to set the gameplay basis which all other games in the series has used. RE2 is regarded very highly by many, but that's one of the least original games in the series.Joseph Merrick said:obviously because re4 is where the real change happened. and re5 is just a refinement. but I somewhat agree. Mercs was WAY better than Hunk/Tofu. It contained many different paths instead of one linear journey, possible side stops for extra points with a heavy element of risk/reward, and it actually unlocked some pretty awesome stuff for the main game. And it's not at all the same setting as RE2 - RE2 barely spends any time in Raccoon City proper since you get to the police station quite quickly and after that you're never out in the city again. Sure RE3 isn't as massive as RE2 and doesn't add as much to the series, but it's still one of the best games in the series. RE2 didn't really add anything to the essential RE1 gameplay beyond the superior zapping system, anyway - what makes it great is the actual scenarios you go through - so I don't think it's fair to apply that uneven standard to RE3.onken said:Bleh, all they did was flesh out the Hunk/Tofo scenarios to make Mercs, just another example of the lazy RE2 rehashing. The setting, yeah it was good, but it was basically the same as RE2, so damn cheap. Ammo mixing was a nice idea, as was quick turn, but these are the sort of things you'd see in a $10 expansion pack, not a full blown sequel. If RE2 didn't exist, I guarantee you people would hold RE3 in a lot higher regard.
