I don't sleep under the flat sheet it gets too hot and it's super uncomfortable for me, sleeping under my soft blanket and comforter on top is way way way way better.

I sleep on my flat sheet. I sleep under two comforters and a blanket. I looooove having my house be like 63 degrees while I sleep under nice big comforters. So damn good.

I used to (for 25+ years) to be all about mattress, sheet (fitted or not), me, sheet, blanket.

But then I saw the light. QUILTS WITH COVERS. No more top sheet anymore. Only dat quilt with a cotton cover I can replace like a sheet. So much more practical and so comfortable. Shieeeet.

Layers never again.

Also, I'm super picky about the flat sheet and such being tucked into the foot of the bed. I can't stand when the flat sheet/comforter pulls up and my feet stick out of the bottom. I'm so particular about the sheets, I'll make the bed at night just before crawling in to go to sleep.

My wife is the absolute opposite. She gets in the bed and twirls around like an alligator to pull the sheets to her and almost cocoon herself in the sheets, so I usually lose the battle =(.

Use two twin flat sheets instead of a single Queen/King sheet. Then the both of you get the experience that you need.
