Those who feel this way, why are you guys still watching this? Don't do this to yourselves if it hurts you so much.

If I can sit through Trump's RNC speech I can sit through this.

Lol, that's funny considering Trump has said something in the vain of, "if you don't like something, don't watch it", when he was talking to Jake Tapper about CNN.

I'll give where credits is due for making through his speech, not sure how you were able to stomach him for 75 whole minutes.

My thoughts on episode 4:

This episode was easily the best so far. I'm very pleased with the VAs for the characters introduced this episode, particularly Mozgus. Goofy animations were kept to a minimum (FFS, why even bother reliving rape horse?). I imagine those unfamiliar with the manga were probably grateful for all the background context.

So yeah, my expectations are still rather low, but I'm cautiously optimistic next week's episode will also be enjoyable.

This was the most faithful one (from the top of my head they omitted t
he Zodd encounter with the Falcon of Light
and
a bit of Farnese and Ricket stuff
). There's barely any animation going, for people who shit one the 97 anime, this one is even worse in that department. When the refugees attack, lmao.

The conflict Guts goes through doesn't make a lick of sense as we haven't seen him going through his revenge against the apostles. There's not a path to choose when the road he has chosen in the past has been omitted. I suppose the story up to this point has to be completely nonsensical to any non-Berserk fan.

New episode was great! MOZGUS!

Episode looked pretty damn nice too. None of the CG was bothersome besides Farnese remembering rape horse.

Love that they showed the wheel torture and execution.

Were there flashbacks?

- Eclipse stuff
- Casca and Erica going out to look for nuts (Where she loses Casca)
- Farnese remembering rape horse
- Serpico remembering the ghosts that attacked him
- Guts leaving Rickert etc behind to hunt apostles (I think... Can't remember)

Thank God. I almost thought we'd forget about that for a moment.

Thanks for the info! Was kinda hope for a Guts leaving flashback.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

They should just stick the Rape Horse into the background or random scenes from here on out.

I don't know why, but there is something that bothers me about Mozgus's face compared to the manga, I think it's his eyes lol

Also I thought his skin would turn red when he gets angry but they didn't do it, that's too bad.

There we go, that's what I'm talking about.

"Twoyearsago,whenRickertshowedupatmydoor,allofyougrievouslyinjured,Istilldon'tknowwhathappenedtoyou.Giventhemonsterthatcameafteryou,I'msureitwassomethingabhorrent.Butvengeanceandrepayingblooddebts?Don'tyouthinkyou'rerunningawaytobattle?Toyourhatred?Hatrediswhereyouturnwhenyoucan'tfaceyourgrief..."

Lol are you sure you don't want to try cramming even more exposition/character dialogue in there? The part about Guts turning to hatred as a way of dealing with his grief is really important to understanding his character, and while that's a pretty intuitive way of reading Guts' pursuit of vengeance, it doesn't get explicitly mentioned in the story all that much. But here they blow right by it without letting it make any impact at all.

This really is an adaptation for people who think Berserk is just badass fights and blood and tits, and I can't figure out why I am still watching it.

I forgot that a new chapter just came out, I wonder if there are English translations.

Not yet but its a dialogue and exposition heavy chapter. There are detailed summaries as Skullknight.net that go into it. We're finally learning about what the Hell is actually going on. Miura seems to be finally setting up the end game.

We're getting some answers to small stuff, more than likely the very next episode we will have a plot dump all over the place with lots of answers to the big stuff. That, and Guts may very well finally tell his crew his story on why he ended up where he is and why Casca is the way she is? Who knows? Only Puck seems to have a bit of a clue, the rest of his (now rather big) crew have no idea. He's also gotten better at sharing screentime for all of the crew, nobody is left out of this latest episode, everyone has something to say out of Guts crew and I hope that stays going forward.

No one gives a shit what Magnifico has to say.

Haha. I care. He's funny.
Well, I was meaning more Puck and Azan, I do predict them becoming more important going forward especially with Azan finally revealing himself to Serpico and Farnese and explaining what happened to him after they left as well as Puck explaining his part in Elfheim and his relationship to the Elf King. Pretty sure he's going to end up being either a high ranking member that left or his son.

And also about Schierke's back story as well, since she is obviously from that island now originally, Fiora taking her away from there for some reason or other we may find out about. That's not even going into Casca regaining her sanity and getting suited up with new weapons/tools in prep for their fight against the dangers in the new world. I bet Skully is going to make an appearance again now too. Who knows? Maybe he will talk about himself a bit. This just seems like the right time for all of this to happen. His past may tie in with how he knew Fiora.

Just lots and lots of story exposition time, I think.

I still don't understand why this was made.

Anime series are made to sell toys, swag, and more copies of the manga.

Is any of this intelligible for someone watching a Berserk related property for the first time? If I didn't know the story, I'd be beyond lost as to what the fuck is going on right now.

Don't worry Farnese, that demon horse motor boating you wasn't real at all. Did people really try shipping Guts with Farnese's crazy ass? Granted her in her current form probably would get off to the blood porn pissed off Guts gets himself into. I actually didn't hate this episode. I like Berserk the best when it just sits down and lets the characters talk and I remember loving the scene in the manga when Mozgus' torturers fuck shit up. Dark Souls 3 pretty much pulled a level out of that part.

It wasn't worse than last weeks. The weird thing is seeing more color in Guts' flashbacks now. Intentional or from backlash?

The horse rape flashback lol. Still don't really know what they want to do with anything. Skipping major stuff and then cramming everything you missed in a few sentences.
It's kinda like Game of Thrones, the weird impasse between following the source and doing whatever you want.

I wonder if they can end on a satisfying note tho
more horse rape
.

How can some people say this episode looked good?
It looked as bad as the other episodes, which is sad :(

Will we still get another movie, retelling this arc? Or was this series planned to continue with berserk in the beginning, instead of a new movie?

It is still cool to see new Berserk arcs.. "animated".. But man, it hurts when you think about what could be instead.

No one gives a shit what Magnifico has to say.

It's hilarious how he has been utterly dominated by the person he introduced to us.

Roderick is a pretty cool guy.

With that out the way this episode returns to the story standards of the manga and again came out better for it. Shocker.

All in all it was ok. Not terrible. Not great. But okay. I wish we got something better.

I didn't dwell too much on it but I think Goto is the only character so far to not have a 3d model.

It's why the interlude in
Vritannis
is my favorite part of the Manga. It's just Guts and crew hanging out, talking about shit for the most part.

I really need to reread Berserk, but yeah, it's at its best with just simple character moments, though I also love it for the epic shit.
That fucking apostle brawl between Griffiths and Ganishka's armies...soooooooo fucking gooooood.

It was still really weird seeing
Guts riding Zodd
That was not something I would have ever expected to see in the story. Like ever.

OH MY GOD
HAND

I finally caved and watched the first three episodes. You guys were not kidding.

I told myself it couldn't possibly be that bad, AND IT WAS WORSE.

This show is complete garbage. There is not a single positive I can remember aside from some of the voice acting.

Those horrible sound effects, the incredibly bad CGI models, the bland color palette...it's like a nightmare coming to life.

This apostle is the one Judeau throws a knife in the Eclipse. This thing spent a few weeks after the Eclipse with the knife in his eyes...what the hell. Is this a fucking joke?

I honestly find the music to be worth noting as awful as well. Such a downgrade from Hirasawa's music from the 90s anime.

The one that is supposed to show up there is the one episode 3 was based around.

I feel like the combination of bad models, stiff animation, and weird shots causes so much of the emotion from the manga to be lost.

Like when Guts gets mad about Casca being gone and Erica starts crying. And the whole scene where he's in the cave and he tells himself he'll never lose her again.

This shit was so powerful but they have no impact in the anime.
