So Beth announced nothing we didn't already know (that matters)- the new game from Arkane (that looks boss, even if the show gave it the worst deal). And the new horror game. I find it hilarious and pathetic some here try to claim these two announcements were a *surprise* and are attacking those who were not impressed. Can you say *paid shill*- especially in the usual case.
Talking of paid shills, did you see the *paid actors* in the audience ensuring that unlike last year, the regular screaming, whooping and screaming accompanied every announcement. Todd was leaving nothing to chance. Yet I was shocked how many times the camera cut to bored (or *angry*- what was that about?) female faces. Some of those ladies were "chewing glass".
But the *paid* cheerleaders did their job, and the sound mix caught the required (fake) audience response.
I flicked thru the show, having forgotten it was on- I found it *better* than the MS disaster. From a PR event POV, not from actual game content, of course. PR should be done well- Beth, with almost nothing, did a good job.
As for the games, everything was utter sh-t save the new Arkane title, and that one sounds and looks good but needs gameplay to fully judge. However Arkane's heart is always in the right place.
The horror game looked very problematic. Here's hoping tho.
The extended look at Doom Eternal looked utter sh-t, all that nintendo mario platform nonsense with low quality graphics in crappy basic environments. Battle Royale for fallout 76 seemed more impressive. I'd say Doom:Eternal is built from the ground up for the Switch and phones. Yuck.
Yet the first vid from the game- the one with all the killing- looked so much better- not even the same game. And had a ton of design inspired from the first Doom 2, which was very cool. But I'll trust beth, so if beth chose to focus on the really sh-tty jumping stuff, I'll take it that the first vid was a clever con, and the real game is properly shown in the bad vids that followed.
And mobile, mobile, mobile, mobile, of course- for the peeps that still try to keep the faith with Beth. Even Beth's plan to waste even more time and money on the dire fallout 76 is a big *clue*.
PS that streaming tech (clue the game is doing *speculative* rendering in *anticipation* of you hitting the fire button so it can *seem* to respond to a fire message with low latency) is 100% so the satanic Zenimax can sue the other streaming peeps for *patent infringement*. *everything* in Beth's new patents is obvious to any competent coder (like myself)- but now Beth is gonna claim to have invented it all.
Dribblers don't understand that coding solutions tend to be functions of hardware limitations, *not* the limitations of alpha level coders. So when hardware gets more capable, all alpha level coders naturally start to use new methods that are *self obvious* (to alphas). Crooks exploit this tho by trying to patent *obvious* software methods before said methods are widely used cos the current hardware makes such methods not yet worthwhile.
So Bethesda has invented *nothing* and their streaming SDK is 100% a dirty rotten abuse of the patent system- a Zenimax speciality.
