I don't know. The TV I played it on doesn't support 24hz. I'll experiment later on a different set.Does it set the PS4 output to 30 or 24Hz?

Someone should check the credits and see if anyone assisted with the remaster.
Dishonored was a pretty poor remaster, no?
Well, they did put quite a bit of effort into it though. They gone over every scene and improved a lot of the bad textures. They even added new assets sometimes to fill out sparse backgrounds. I doubt the budget was very high for this of course, but even if it would have been I doubt they would have shot for 60 fps. Just doesn't feel like something they or most of their audience would care for. As for the engine, they improved most things they could (like higher shadow resolution and AF), there wasn't a huge amount to improve here as the PS3 release already used the majority of current gen technology unlike other PS3 releases. Its 29.99 and basically stealth launched...i didn't think it was gonna be all that huge an effort, you can kinda tell with these things. Similar to Dishonored HD
Black bars will be in Detroit. Sorry. And yes, it was entirely done in house afaik.Too bad about the black bars, I really hope they listen and don't do it again with Detroit.
Any word if the PS4 version was done by QD?.
You should watch the video, they've remastered more than resolution and framerate.Basic remaster to get more blood out of the stone. What else is new?
I bought it B2S 2 weeks ago for the ps3 for ÂŁ3.60. To me that was a fair entry point that justified my enjoyment.
I have a love/hate relationship with remasters. It's great that consumers have a chance to pick up games they missed out on previous generations, but the labeling of "remaster" is thrown about just as much as "pre-alpha". Don't get me wrong I know this isn't a remake and the differences they entail.
Everyone should call their "remasters" that have little no no improvements beyond what the console standard is "im talking about framerate and resolution" the way Nintendo's naming scheme functions:
Beyond Two Souls PS4.
Devil May Cry HD Collection and the other sony collections do what I'm talking about. None of this false "Remaster" crap.
Its the collection of games in HD. 60 FPS and 1080. Does what it says on the tin. Maybe this is just me but the naming conventions need to be toned down and reserved for actual remasters.
It should not be 60 fps. This is a game where the framerate is "cinematic" intentionally.
Deal with it. It's a cage game where you can't fail. You are getting an upgrade from 24 fps!kill me
Considering Cage's push to make his games like films, it's entirely possible 30fps and a 21:9 aspect ratio are deliberate choices.
That said, it seems like a pretty barebones remaster in general anyway.
17 fps actually in some places lol Cage went too far on PS3Deal with it. It's a cage game where you can't fail. You are getting an upgrade from 24 fps!![]()
Well 21:9 certainly is considering the game runs perfectly fine on PS3 with the bars removed through a simple config file change (something DF is wrong about). It's either rendering under the bars already or it's limited in other ways so that a resolution boost actually doesn't affect it much. It's very much an artistic choice. 30 fps on the other hand is obviously in place so they can push graphics further, as their games benefit from that a hell of a lot more than 60 fps and not so great graphics. No point making this 60 fps since all their future titles won't be.Considering Cage's push to make his games like films, it's entirely possible 30fps and a 21:9 aspect ratio are deliberate choices.

Then why didn't he make it 24 fps
.
Any game* objectively benefits from6 0fps whether its from response time or gameplay fluidity. I'm not all that bothered by some games not targeting 60fps this gen (apart from some genres like FPS) but for remasters, it's the minimum I expect. Using the "filmic/cinematic look" is just a cop-out IMO.
*Apart from South Park stick of truth.
because the number of TVs that support 24fps are relatively very small. The number of TVs that support 30fps are... every TV ever made in North America..
Is it really that rare? I've got a Samsung from like 7 years ago and it does have a 24Hz mode.
It's called Motion Blur. Not that great in stills sometimes, but it looks better and more fluid in motion. Otherwise I see no additional blurring anywhere. The few improved textures and replaced assets are nice, but I doubt you'd notice them unless you had each version side by side. Still great to see some additional effort.
However some scenes they've added a blury layer to. When compared to the PS3 shots I'm of the opinion that the PS3 is preferable in those scenes.

- Enhanced 1080p graphics including motion blur, bloom and depth of field effects, as well as improved lighting and shadows. The game also makes use of the DualShock 4 speaker to improve immersion when playing as the Entity.
- Decisions are highlighted at the end of each scene and compared with those made by other players.
- You can now play the game in chronological order right from the start – a much requested feature in the PS3 version!
- Increased difficulty in certain fight scene, combined with improved controls for action sequences.
- Includes the “Enhanced Experiments” DLC.
sorry, but 48fps Hobbit says your full of utter shit. If you are going for a "traditionally cinematic experience", the further past 24fps you get the further it harms the "cinematic look/feel" of the experience. See Hobbit at 48fps. Or ANYTHING motion interpolated to 120/240Hz. "buh buh buh buh games!!!!!!!" is not a valid point. You can't argue that games are art on one side of the argument, then say that game creators can't push for artistic manipulation and filtering on the other side of it. If a creator truly wants to set framerate to 30fps on their title to achieve a look, or do 21:9, or do black and white, etc.. you, I, or anyone else don't have squat to say about it aside from we like it or not.
How is this a basic remaster?

There should be a new word for this type of "remaster".
cinema should be 60 FPSIt should not be 60 fps. This is a game where the framerate is "cinematic" intentionally.
But that's exactly the point...we're not watching a movie we're playing a GAME where there is gamePLAY. Unlike a movie which is non-interactive, games benefit (for the reasons I mentioned above) in an increase in frame rate. Yes of course games are art, but where there is interaction, people benefit from a higher frame rate as they're interactingwith the game. Again, TB's video does a nice job at explaining that. For cutscenes? Possibly? But gameplay? Nah; high response time, less input latency and more fluid gameplay makes for a superior experience. Not that I'm bothered, as I game on consoles anyway, but playing The Order for example at 60fps compares to 30fps would mean the game PLAYS better.
- Option to turn off borders
- 60fps
Either way, we'll see how those changes truly hold up on DF's analysis/face-off next week. I don't want to be making final judgements now.

Yeah, devs could always do the games they dont want to do... but they are crazy enough to do what they want to do. #devgate
Cash grab?
Playing the interactive media card on a David Cage game seems like a waste of time. If this was any other type of game other than basically a limited interaction cutscene I am right with you. 60 all the way. Doing the "60 and proud" bit on this game is just farting into the wind.
Companies want to make money? Shocker.
There is no fast paced gameplay though. But that's exactly the point...we're not watching a movie we're playing a GAME where there is gamePLAY. Especially for 29.99 and a discount on HR.How is this a basic remaster?

I mean, it was a choice they did. Either like it or not I guessThat should have been available from the start. Im glad they added that meaning they listened to fans, but that should have been the standard, if not patched into the PS3 version. Added nothing to the story by playing it in a disjointed manner, and I shouldn't have to buy the game again to play it in a way that makes sense.
They improved character hair rendering and animation actually. It moves a lot more fluid now.I can see some improvements, nice improvements to MB, DOF, Water (water sprouts) and smoke, would have liked to see further improvements on characters though. The most distracting thing is the shimmering, there's no way they should exist on this remaster.
kill me
There are multiple ways of making money. One is to put a lot of effort into delivering a quality product, another is to push out a sub-par product in order to make a quick buck.

How is it a subpar product?
So you're not calling this product sub par? But this type of remaster is a cash grab?Cash grab?
Navajo got a massive overhaul too, which is much appreciated since it was easily the worst looking chapter on PS3.

That is certainly noticeable even from compressed twitch stream grabs.
How is it a subpar product?
It grants you a discount on HR if you buy it so that will likely be $19 then.A meh game with few improvements. Should have been $19.
Cause there is no reason for it. They upped the graphics further instead. It was the best looking game on PS3 and ran accordingly awful on it (17 fps sometimes). 60 fps is asking for a lot.How is this game not 60fps on PS4?
Technically the game is only running in 900p too, although with the fidelity of 1080p as the missing pixels are blacked out rather than upscaled.
A 900p remaster should be 60fps.
Also I wish there was an option to remove the borders for those of us who disagree that that black bars painted on the top and bottom of a TV screen make a videogame more cinematic.
Most people would say equate '900p' to 1600x900 which is not what's happening here.Technically the game is only running in 900p too, although with the fidelity of 1080p as the missing pixels are blacked out rather than upscaled.

Wait, why are people pissed that they didn't remove the black bars like it was some sort of technical limitation, when it was how they envisioned their game?
Its not a port. :/"Port".
So did The Order have black bars for the same reason?Hint: it wasn't; the developers even said it themselves that they could push image quality and graphics more with less stuff on screen whilst maintaining a sound frame rate.
