Game Show Network in the US had a similar show called "Friend or Foe" that had that exact same sequence at the end. Except the stakes were never close to that high and the show itself was kinda lame. I think it actually predated Golden Balls.
And it was hosted by Kennedy damn what a unfunny woman.
