Next study shows that 0% of vegetarians drink. But seriously, those bastards! I'm calling the cops.

Bacon, a notorious cheat food for vegetarians, not as big in this group.

They're just doing their part!

Well no sober person would eat a Doner Kebab.

I know 2 vegetarians that occasionally eat meat if they feel like it, its probably a once a year affair though. They are the types who cook you meat if you come over for dinner though.

There are not really any vegetarian police or mullahs who enforce the diet. Other than Morrissey, natch. It's all voluntary and self policing. It's not totally unknown for people to eat chicken and claim to be a variety of vegetarian. The basic difference between vegan and vegetarian is that it is lax and lets you set the boundaries more where you feel comfortable. Probably as a vegetarian it is better for you to eat red meat occasionally because it's the best source of iron. But I can't really bring myself to do it.

This a subset of drinking vegetarians, though.
Badly written. It can be interpreted as 37% of all vegetarians cheat, when they drink. It is not clear if they're talking about all vegetarians or only those that drink. Stuff like that is always problematic when the news cite studies, or non-existent studies.

Unverified survey about inebriated vegetarians consuming meat was picked up as a real story on several reputable websites.

Mainstream news sources such as Vice, The Independent, Fox News, Mother Jones, Elite Daily and USA Today published stories yesterday referencing a post by British site Morning Advertiser detailing how one-third of vegetarians eat meat when they are drunk. The problem is that the Morning Advertiser’s source—a United Kingdom coupon code site called VoucherCodesPro—has revealed no evidence of this study. Titled “A third of vegetarians ‘eat meat when drunk,’” the piece links only to the coupon site, where no traces of the research is found. Furthermore, a Google search revealed that George Charles, cited as the founder of VoucherCodesPro in the article, is not associated with the company but rather involved in a string of public relations pieces. The story cited various statistics about a group of vegetarians, reporting that 37 percent ate meat after consuming alcohol, specifically kebab. The news sources who quickly picked up the story as truth used the falsified information to create posts that poked fun at vegetarians. VegNews reached out to VoucherCodesPro, as well as the various writers behind the third-party articles, but nobody could point us to the study in question.
