FYI there is a physical release coming out of Q1 next year. I gave this game an immediate pass, but recently watched a few videos that have shifted my views.

Used my cellphone to log into PSN to add bugsnax to my PS+.
Are there other ways to do this for the next few months until I get my grubby hands on a PS5?

It’s actually pretty fun game, was going to play it with my 5 year old daughter but decided against it due to some of the diversity inclusions.

2 gay couples and a They/Them Grumpus. Not sure why you need diversity in a game with furry creatures eating animals shaped like food, but hooray.

Fine for someone like me but not my 5 year old.

I just deleted this off my PS5 within 15 minutes of playing. Just seemed corny and SJW. Could tell as soon as the introduced the idiot lazy male character along with the much smarter and superior female and LGBT++ characters.

GaySnax

Is there even an OT for this? Picked it up yesterday and it’s way more fun than The Medium.

I got it on ps4 since who knows when I’ll find a ps5. It was fun but had long load times that probably aren’t on the ps5.

I really tried to like this game but it doesn't click with me.. At first I thought it seemed kinda fun but it got extremely annoying quickly.

Like, the sound effects are unbearable to me? That little burger thing that says "bungle!" continously, especially. I have a thing about sound effects made by human voices, it makes my skin crawl and it's just so cringy 😬😣

Also, having the bugsnax moods represented by iPhone emojis really rub me the wrong way as well, it's gross.

Yeah that'd probably scar your kid for life if she saw some diversity. Don't want her to catch the gay!

Indeed.
My child sees diversity in all places we go but in a game ohhhh the horror lol

I believe it is time to people understand the world changed and we need to accept gays are just like us... humans.

I find it funny that I spent months trying to buy a 10Tflop next gen system and the first thing I end up beating is...This, lol.

It was...Good?? Some of the challenges were slightly frustrating, but understandable to add complexity to a quite simple game. But adult relationship problems? Dark undertones? Horror? I was not expecting this game at all, I intended to play it but I thought it would be some silly little thing.

I wish there was a way to load a game closer to the climax to save everyone, just missed the mountain science guy because I didn't know how the log/drone combo was supposed to work. Looks like I have to start at the party and do the whole mountain bit again to get there, I probably will after a few days break from *checks* 11 hours of Bugsnax.

I don't know wtf they were on thinking of this game, but it was wonderful.

If you beat his side quest first, you can't fail his part of the minigame.

This was a different sort of fucked up. Like, way to go with the fast food combo body parts to a Fraggle creatures, but on top of that I get to witness all sorts of awkward gay and straight breakups and separations.

Great game 😐

Finally got round to playing it this week, super fun! The game has a lot of charm while not taking itself too seriously and has some funny writing. Not all characters gelled with me but the interaction between the villagers we're a lot of fun. Similarly the catching of the bugsnax was a lot of fun although pretty janky on some of the more challenging creatures. Going for full completion, the game maybe outstayed its welcome a bit but overall an entertaining and charming experience. Think Pokemon could learn quite a lot from this game tbh. Also think these are exactly the type of games PS+ is made for, something many people wouldn't normally give their attention to but as it's free give it a whirl.

no one will even be able to die if you do all the side missions.

Yeah, when I first watched Brokeback Mountain I was stunned and fascinated. I soonly turned out to be gay.

That's how it works kids:
Consume media with gay people in it -> You become gay.

It doesn’t help lol
When you consume media with your child and it happens that there are gay persons in there, he/she may ask a few questions and you as a parent could try your best to explain it to him/her. That shouldn’t be a hard thing to do at all. Kids can be far further than many give them credit for. They lack experience, but they still can come up with surprisingly intelligent and open-minded takes. I mean, would you rather plant bias against gay people in the child's mind? That could backfire. What if you do exactly that and he/she still turns out gay, but he/she also becomes incredibly fragile and ambivalent towards you, because your parenting made him/her believe gay people are bad so he/she has a hard time making up his/her mind. Parents acting like being gay is bad and inhuman could also lead the child to be rude and intolerant towards gay people. In a way, this would be poetic justice though.

Bad parenting, bad experiences at a young age, bad friends, etc. can influence your child much more than any piece of media could ever do. She isn’t watching porn or plays Mortal Kombat, she plays a colorful game about fruit beings and the relationship mechanic isn’t revealing or sexual in any way… but because some of those fruit beings are gay, it is supposedly a „bad influence“, lol.

I think some people have an incredibly dated mindset here and I imagine this is close to their point of view:

Yeah, cuz that’s exactly what I was implying. Come back once you have kids.

So what are you implying? The relationships in the game aren't even depicted in a sexual nature, they just are there, what else could you be implying about your kids seeing that?

I wasn’t implying anything. I stated my specific reasons for not letting my 5 year old play the game. Those aren’t discussions that she’s ready for yet.
Right.... I would say that the game maybe has some of the best handling of the subject I've seen in a game seeing as it doesn't make a statement about anything. It treats all relationships (gay or straight) completely equal, not singling out anyone in particular and just showing every situation being normal. Don't think anyone, especially kids, would even bat an eye. Even if they did it's not like there's a bad message there. Unless you think that a town of magical creatures where everyone is tolerant of each other is a bad influence. But hey, you do you man

Well, I just hope you are consequent then and also won't let her consume the plethora of media with straight relationships in them, like Disney movies for example.

How exactly?
It would be hypocritical because it makes a distinction between people solely on the basis of different sexuality.
You would think that in 2021 we would finally see gay people as normal or as wacky as anybody else, but there are still religious camps out there to make you straight. You'd think that the South Park clip is making a joke of something from the 60s, but it is still relevant as ever.

The point is, that the game isn't sexual with its relationship mechanic. Why should it be deemed as "morally bad" because colorful fictional non-sexual characters can have both straight and gay relationships?

I'll ask the same question again, would it be okay for you if there weren't gay relationships in the game?
