Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review Thread

Soo... Titanfall 2 it is
Oh yes.

Also are many reviews using MW remaster as a 'positive' point? I get that's its great but should not have any reflection on Infinite Warfare's review.

EDIT: Aw man top of the page...

Yea that's ridiculous as it's not even part of the regular edition.

Pretty popular at least.

Titanfall 2 only at 500ish viewers. Press F to etc.

Wait so IW get's better scores at some Outlets because the ultra pre-order includes MW?

Wait, who did that? Super stupid if so since it's not bundled in?

Our review will go up later today or tomorrow since we're still testing it in real world servers.

That said, reading some of the reviews and super weird that a MP-centric game like call of Duty is being reviewed for its SP more so than MP.

And yeah, Polygon had different reviewers for this and TF2, but really? Did any reviewer mention Weapon Variants at all? If not, that's kinda showing what they don't know, and why they shouldn't be reviewing MP games.

I've only watched a smidgen of multiplayer footage but it looked like the same 'ol thing. Nothing about it looked fresh or exciting.

Unless they return to the Cold War era or Further back, I've no interest in this series.

I got Infinite Warfare just so I cold play MW: Remastered... but looking at this maybe I should fire up IW for the campaign

It'll probably settle in the 79-82 range. Not surprising with a long running, yearly series that doesn't see much change.

Some review wrote "MW is as fun as it was years ago"

Not sure why scores of around 80 are considered bad on here, I don't think truly bad games would ever score an 8/10. That said, I'd rather play Titanfall or Battlefield.

It appears the multiplayer is the known quantity here and more or less the same so I would imagine that's why it doesn't get as much Attention. I personally play it only for the campaign so I can relate.

I read the Polygon review and it seems totally fine, with about half of it dedicated to singleplayer and half to multiplayer. As far as the comparison to TF2 is concerned that's just what you get with different reviewers, especially when it's Gies who reviewed TF2. Seems like the dude who scored IW just likes the campaign a lot.

Good reviews, campaign seems solid and Zombies are excellent, don't care about MP, I will be playing Black Ops 3 and Modern Warfare Remaster so no time for IW.

I see reviewers are now jumping on it's cool to hate on cod now vibe, if this had came out last year it would've been the blanket 8-9 range like every cod. It's hard to judge reviews on this one.
A bad CoD is a bad CoD, especially when it comes out right after BF1 and TF2.

Yes, started watching the first 15 minutes of the campaign. The very first set piece actually had me really excited and it looks fantastic......had I close the video to not spoil. I'm actually excited to play the campaign.

It's not a bad COD. Singleplayer is a return to form for IW.

Haven't touched MP yet as I have no interest but, for anyone looking for a SP campaign, it's really, really good. Not as inventive as TF2 but noone does spectacle better than IW. They also exceed in pacing, with wonderful quiet interludes between missions where the game basically becomes Mass Effect 2 as you wander the ship, talk to people, read mission logs and then choose your next objective.

Yeah, saw it. I gather that site didn't know MWR isn't bundled in automatically since the review codes being sent out includes it. Yeesh.

Yep. Kinda know that's a factor. MP deserves a lot more attention than SP since most people buy it for MP (like it or not, that's how it is), and is why the franchise is successful.

We have our review in pending since yesterday. More testing and we'll push it out. I can say that we touch Weapon Variants and Supply Drops; not sure how reviewers can choose not to since it's a pretty big deal.

And not being an ass, but who the heck is Impulse Gamer? O_o 100/100 from an unknown site?

Good to know. I never touch COD MP so happy it's a good campaign. Already reserved at my nearby Redbox. I can spend $3-$6 for a rental to finish the campaign. Any word on campaign length?

Worser than BLOPS 3 confirmed.

Well atleast in multiplayer and zombies. Weakest part in BLOPS 3 was the campaign that's it, everything else in it is great

Would it? You do realise COD review averages have been about this level for a few years:

Current gen Call of Duty Metacritic scores:
Advanced Warfare - 83
Infinite Warfare - 81
Black Ops 3 - 81
Ghosts - 78

EA wins this round?

They won't win in sales though. BF1 (according to UK figures) has been a bit of a sales disappointment, and I expect COD will probably be close to double BF1 + TF2's sales numbers (going by UK figures again, as we don't often get reliable numbers for other areas).

Yeah, that's ridiculous. MWR shouldn't be factoring into this at all.

BF1 sales were fine. Yes they were below BF3 but the second week hold was much better. It won't top COD but I also don't know what people think would happen if it did. Activison clearly are looking at microtransactions as a way to offset lower sales.

Campaign good.
Zombies pretty fun.
Multiplayer.. meh

That sounds perfectly aligned with pre-release expectations. Could have summarised these reviews 2 weeks ago in the BETA and hype-check threads.

I didn't really want to spend £80 on COD this year but I think that's fairly reasonable for IW Campaign + IW Zombies + MW Campaign + MW Multiplayer. There's a lot of hours there.

"Before, COD got solid reviews automatically and now they don't. The bias is too much!"

Reviews even mentioning MWR seems weird to me, considering how expensive that version of IW is.

I'm torn on this. I hated the multiplayer beta and I've never been a Zombies player. I'd only play this for the campaign, but reviews for it seem mixed. I'm probably going to wait for GB's review. It will be interesting to see if Jeff reviews it there. He gave TF2 5/5 and I'm helplessly hooked on that right now -- if IW scores any less I don't know if I'll grab it.

Jeff has pretty much admitted that he didn't like the multiplayer, and he's never cared about zombies. Even if he loves the campaign, it'll cap out at three stars. Don't make your purchasing decision based on a review score, just make up your own mind.

Remaster this bad boy and it's safe to say remasters bundled drive sales.!

I'm done with Call of Duty. I thought the future of FPS games was either single player only or multiplayer only, but Battlefield 1 has a good campaign and everyone is singing praise for Titanfall.

As much as I can't stand anything that comes out of Peter Moore's mouth and EA company culture in general, I hope they do ok with their holiday releases, and that COD starts going the way of ass creed games.

Really shows the difference between current gen and last gen. news outlets were really obsessed with the AAA glitz last gen and it showed

Bland multiplayer but really good campaign seems to be the consensus. Pretty much what I expected since they put a lot of effort on the campaign.

Mostly positive and a few mixed, bit a bad start with a game having such a rough time in perception.

I really hope it's great but today is all about CoD4.

Got any spare tin foil hats to share, insane assumptions there.

I'm kind of interested again. I don't like CoD multiplayer so I kinda stopped playing these games. I DID enjoy Advanced Warfare's campaign a lot and it seems like this is one of the better campaigns in the series. I'm intrigued.

Really hated the MP beta and was vehemently against buying this, but I found the Legacy Edition for 43€ on cdkeys, so I think it's worth it for MWR alone plus the IW campaign
