Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review Thread

81 is a good score.

The campaign looks to be fun. I didn't really enjoy the MP during the open beta, but I'll give it some time to see if I get into it.

Plus, MWR should tide me over for some time.

User score 3.4 is kinda troubling. I haven't seen such a low score in a long time.
It's CoD. Every CoD gets slammed by users on Metacritic every time a new one launches and 99% of those writing them haven't even played it. This happens every year and to most popular games.

The fact that Blops 3 one of the most loved CoDs in recent memory is tied second lowest on MC, shows that critics are largely out of touch with the wider CoD community anyway.

All the more apparent when most reviews focus on the SP; critics don't seem to tend to review MP games well in my experience.

Honestly the series needs to die for a while...I don't play it any more and just watching a "new" (same formula covered in different clothing) one come out every year makes me dislike it even more. But they gotta milk that money so I doubt it will go away.

Black Ops 3 was the "biggest entertainment launch" of 2015 and did over half a billion in 3 days. Even if IW doesn't top that it'll still do very big numbers.

CoD isn't going anywhere in spite of what feels like a fairly common desire to see it fail around here.

Despite peoples views on this franchise, I think that the scores are reflective of the amount of money put into the marketing of this game. Out of all the years Call of Duty has been out this is the one year where I have barely seen any marketing for this game. I think this also plays a small factor in regards to sales and reviews.

I'm very surprised Jeff from Giantbomb gave it
3/5
stars.

It's a poor score, considering that's a 60/100 basically.
I feel he somehow didn't PAY RESPECT (lol) to what he said on the latest Bombcast (ep. 455):
- "that's a really good campaign"
- "it goes places it's never gone before"
- "it's the most ambitious they have done in a long time"
-(speaking of the bundle with MWR) "[...]from a value perspective[...]there's so F much and all of it is at least like high budget and produced well, wether you like it or not it's a very different thing".
I expected a 4/5 stars, and considering the good campaign completed with a full fledged multiplayer (maybe not perfect but indeed solid) and a zombie mode, i think it would have been a more appropriate score in the end.
Maybe it's Titanfall 2 being so good that brought this one down a bit, but considered by itself it's a great package worth full 60$ to me
.
Jeff knows i'm right lol ;)
