Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review Thread

Enough with the remasters, make a new game in that era.
It's not like they utilize today's technical advantages. COD4MP has seen over half a million people log onto their servers. They'd be stupid not to remaster a classic when we all know next years COD will follow on the same shit footsteps. I say remaster World at War, a game that crosses 3 military campaign (Japan, German and Russian front lines) and bundle that with CoD 2017.

Best regards,

OM

I'm kind of interested again. I don't like CoD multiplayer so I kinda stopped playing these games. I DID enjoy Advanced Warfare's campaign a lot and it seems like this is one of the better campaigns in the series. I'm intrigued.

I'll get it once it's cheap for SP.

Can you test performance of Microsoft store version :p?

BO3 had literally one of the worst FPS campaigns I've ever played. It was undeniably dreadful in so many ways.

Yep, I couldn't force myself to play through it and stopped after 3 or 4 missions. It's complete garbage and I loved BO 1 and 2 campaigns.
Hell BO3 was much worse than BF4's shitty campaign and it wasn't even close.

I was really pumped for this game when we learned the sci-fi concept behind it, but I played a couple games of the beta and I've never been so turned off toward a Call of Duty game. Damn fucking tenth of a second shooting gallery kill times. The game felt so 1 dimensional I thought I was playing the book Flatland.

Once again, they always have a hardcore mode, why does standard need to have such quick ttk? It makes every weapon feel the same since it's just a race of who can use the aim assist to get the reticle on the other enemy's face
and now crotch (haha cause that weapon variant)
first?

I'm not one to hope for bad reviews, but this franchise really needs a fire lit under it's ass.

If you add IW's campaign to BO3's everything else you get a complete COD. And IW's campaign could be called BO3 and it would still make as much sense as calling BO3's campaign BO3.

Still can't get over how nonsensical BO3's campaign was.

I'm surprised by the early positive buzz considering almost everything I heard about the multiplayer beta made it sound like bad Black Ops 3 multiplayer. I want Modern Warfare Remastered and I'm interested in the campaign but I cancelled my preorder cause everything I saw about the multiplayer just looked so bad! I'll wait to see how things shake out.

Not bad at all, quite surprised by the scores honestly.

I mean even Ghosts got positive reviews.

I just didn't find WaW all that great, except zombies. Never got the praise for Treyarch tbh.

Many thanks,

Latimer

The positive reception to the campaign makes me feel not so bad about buying this purely for Modern Warfare.

Well the next one is by Sledgehammer, and if it's Advanced Warfare 2, that's a no buy from me.

Word. I feel like Treyarch is the only competent cod developer now. I would totally buy MW Remastered as a stand alone product though.

Also this is the first CoD I won't buy or play. The campaign does look alright but that's not enough for me.

oh god no, I thought was even worse =/

At least I finished Blops 3's campaign, the zombie one was borderline impossible to play solo

Story wise I actually thought the Zombie version was better. But yeah, there are some REALLY rough section in the zombie campaign compared to the regular campaign.

I have zero interest in Infinity Warfare. Does anyone else reckon they'll eventually release COD4R as a separate game in the future?

I see reviewers are now jumping on it's cool to hate on cod now vibe, if this had came out last year it would've been the blanket 8-9 range like every cod. It's hard to judge reviews on this one.

Seems like the other way around. It's getting a pass because of its campaign

Black Ops 3 was shat on for its, i think, innovative campaign that got too repetitive gameplay-wise by the end. it's too bad.
i think its campaign and multiplayer are really great.

Black ops 3 campaign was the worst call of duty campaign. At least ghosts was coherent. Black ops 3 was a pretentious mess

I do. They'd be insane not to. Regardless of reviews, I think this game won't sell as well as Acti would like and they're gonna sell MWR to all the people that didn't get IW or MWR, which is probably gonna be a good number of people.

That's my take on it.

My knee jerk (just beat it) infinite warfare review: story is predictable. Villain was fucking uninspired melodramatic bullshit you couldn't even begin to care about. Side missions are the what the batmobile was to Arkham Knight. An excuse to beat you over the "look at our new mechanic" in the form of space battles. There are a few moments which stand out as "oh OK this could be good writing" but they fail to manifest into anything beyond hallway chatter. Character development is nill.
Despite the inclusion of Wall running there's like 2 places in the entire campaign to even utilize it.
The story DOES however convey a feeling of loss as people die. Not immediately but in the end where you get to listen to audio logs of the deceased letters home. Like I didn't care about the characters in the game. But the stories could have been anyone's in a real war past or present.
The gunplay feels odd. The distinction between ballistic and energy weapons leaves you kinda going "why the crap does it take 6 headshots to take this guy out? Answer. You're SHOOTING MIND BULLETS LOL. (ok energy bullets.)
CoD automatically gets well reviewed no matter how bad it is, let's not pretend this is different.

Midnight hit last night and I had that arcade shooter itch...I bought Titanfall 2 on PSN. Having a blast since I woke up this morning!

this game looks awful.

i actually liked BlOps 3 campaign so this one seems like it has something even better, count me in
I thought people were hyped on the blops 3 campaign when it first came out? Reading impressions of it on Gaf is why I broke down and bought it. Of course, I ended up not liking it and quitting halfway through... I was actually thinking about reinstalling it though since its getting a ps4 pro patch.

My sister got Blops 3. I might just borrow her copy to play it. I watched her play the first few levels and it looks awesome, gameplay wise.

I did get a bit spoiled on the plot though.
There's some AI virus thing that corrupts minds and it's the same thing as the numbers in BLOPS 1?
That's dumb! I want to play it.

I was originally turned off by the concept of Advanced Warfare, but their campaign, performance profile and multiplayer was a lot more consistent and cohesive than Treyarch and IW have been this gen.

I guess i'll be waiting for Modern Warfare R to be sold stand alone on my wait for AW 2

Reviews look good to me as I was only ever going to play the IW campaign along with MW multiplayer. The fact I skipped Blops3 also keeps it feeling at least a little "fresh".

CoD is better for me as an every other year purchase.

gameplay wise it was tight, i do enjoy the futuristic part of it though so it was easy to digest all the "powers" or abilities

the story is trippy as fuck not denying that, but yeah the first couple of missions start a bit slow you know the usual kind of missions that teach you the ropes but then it goes balls deep in tripping balls territory and by that time you are either enjoying it or not lol

Decided to get both TF2 and CoDIW as part of the Target deal. Might as well. From what I've seen it's a step up from my last major played CoD which was MW3.

Some interesting comments by Eurogamer

It's a story about the necessity of measuring up to those who have gone before, a story so congested by reverence for the immortal dead that it never manages to say anything else.

Practically every dialogue line that isn't a buddy-bonding quip or navy l33tspeak is about the desirability - indeed, the inevitability - of a selfless demise in battle, to the extent that the broader reasons for those sacrifices vanish out the airlock.

This will be the first year I refuse to purchase a Call of Duty game. I'm finally putting my foot down. The good news is that I'm getting a copy sent to me via Gamefly so I can at least run through the campaign and call it a day.

For me, the crazier a story is, the better, so I'll probably like it lol.
