Call of Duty: WWII - Beta Impressions

I cant get a killstreak for shit in this game. Why is a damn recon plane 5 kills?

Still having a lot of trouble aiming in this game, most likely due to the loose way sledgehammer implements aim assist. Had the same issue in Advance Warfare. Its almost non existent.

BTW where can I give actual feedback to the devs or report problems?

There is a subreddit called r/WWII, where Sledgehammer has a feedback thread started.

I started to enjoy it until I switched to WAR, what a great concept turned into shit because of the downfalls that has plagued this franchise for a while. I got quick scopped like a motherfucker, then the netcode started to act up with lag and shit started happening, I was quickly reminded why I stopped playing this franchise after BLOPS III.

The team deathmatch wasn't too bad, maps were a bit on the small side which didn't allow for any types of tactics or strategy to hold the choke points. Everyone is just jumping around and twich shooting.

Will give it a proper weekend session before writing it off, the gunplay and hit detection seems to be massively improved over the crap that they have shipped last few years, so that's good.

When a lot of people complain that they can't get killstreaks it makes me more hopeful. The killstreK explosion that happened after WaW was one of the worst things to happen to COD.

The more I play the more I'm not feeling it.

Main gripes:

Maps are tiny and boring
Connection feels shit
Movement is too slow

WaW was my favourite CoD so I was cautiously optimistic about this game but it's just not the same anymore. I think it's a mixture of my preferences changing and the maps becoming too small and linear in general. They just offer so little variation.

Surprised how negative this thread is. I really enjoyed my time with it. This has the potential to be my favourite since the first Black Ops.

U must be new here, gaf shits on everything... Now if this cod looked like undertale, and played like pong they'd cream their pants.

You must not pay attention. GAF trends older and a lot of us loved COD pre-MW2. Played WaW, MW1, 3, BR1, 2, etc. Some of us hoped that when they said WWII would go back to the series roots they meant more than aesthetically.

OK Yeah, because valid criticism are typically dismissed as trivial; that's GAF for you.

At this point, I'm just waiting to see how the campaign will turn out.

Lol, I do fine thank you. Not the greatest, but not a potato by any means. Why should I have to buy a SCUF? Did i explicitly say someone didn't know what they were talking about? If I did, that wasn't my intention.

I don't care about sweaty players, or people that are better than me, that happens, what I hate is the people who jump everywhere, and no, I have been playing since COD4 OG and I have never seen so many jump shotters, it was prevelant in BO2 but was not before that.

Preach. It's ridiculous. Every fucking one on one. I mean, I guess people find this fun, but give me TF2 or Bf1, any day.

Tdm was fun, war was not from what I've played. In war was a section were we had to build a bridge. But it was in direct sight of numerous sniping positions across the way. There was no cover at all when building. That was endless death in seconds. Like there was nothing my team could do. We would have had to all switch to snipers to fight back, but by that point we were being overrun.

I haven't played a cod since blops 1 I think. But I still see that classic "shoot someone 5 times, they turn around and shoot you once and kill you" thing going on here.

I think WaW is still a much better game, that game deserved all the praise and more. It was so good.

I'm still enjoying this but tactics don't seem interesting at all due to the map design.
It's missing the magic that WaW had. Hopefully they nail the single player so this can still be a solid game.

Sniper is absolutely broken when defending the bridge, got like 15 kills before they got me. I think war mode should be limited to 1 sniper per team

Yeah I just played that mode and it was snipers galore. The bridge portion of war is terribly designed.

I just find it hard to see people in this game. I think coming out of sprint is too slow so its easy to die that way. Also don't like the circle part of the sights in this game. It limits my view a lot.

I simply cannot get over the slow plodding movement in the game. This has been a problem for me in the last couple CoD's. The game is so fast paced but the movement feels disjointedly slow. Like from the waist down you're pushing through water or something, very sluggish. The Map was like a spiderweb in that you had so many corridors and very few open area's that fostered quick reflex over any semblance of tactics.
I feel like it's just the same CoD they've been making for the last few years with just a couple changes and a re-skin. When did they switch to the current Engine their using?
I understand they're adding game modes but the underlying tech and CoD feeling feels like the last 2-3 games.

Still waiting on my beta key for WWII (did the Xfinity thing, not sure when/if it's ever going to show up in my inbox), but I agree with your sentiments about the last few games. I honestly felt like AW was the closest they came to making the hectic boost jumping and speed of movement into one cohesive style. It was blisteringly fast and it felt like it was supposed to be.

Now I didn't exactly ENJOY AW's multiplayer all that much but it at least felt like they were trying to build all the elements into a somewhat meaningful whole.

BO3 on the other hand may have had great multiplayer systems, but the movement was clunky and awkward... Made me wonder why bother with the boost jumping at all if it's just a tacked on, tiny burst of airtime that you use to wallrun for a couple clumsy seconds. Then IW ripped its movement straight from BO3 and somehow it was even clunkier and bulkier.

Reading impressions of WWII on here doesn't give me high hopes, but hopefully I'll get to try it out for myself. While every other shooter seems to be pushing boundaries, CoD is shackled to its past in the worst possible ways.

Doing nothing for me sadly after playing BF 1

I was excited again when I heard they were going back to ww2, but I think i'm officially done with CoD now

Should add, I've not actually played it and this is purely based on the numerous gameplay videos and streams I've watched

Maybe I should have read this thread before creating a Hong Kong PSN account to download it, because I was excited for this for not being a exoskeleton, double jumping, futuristic COD. I'll still give it a try though to see for myself.

Enjoyed the first hour or so play time other than the first couple of matches while I got used to how it controls.

I've noticed the sprint out time is too slow, as is movement speed while ADSing. The spawns seem not to flip when you'd expect either, I was spawn trapped a few times. This maybe because the maps are pretty small and space for spawns being limited.

I've played a couple of matches and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I like it more than Infinite Warfares multiplayer at least but I'll have to play more. It sort of feels like something is missing but I'm not sure what that is.

Haven't played CoD since AW and I used to be great, getting the highest killstreaks every few games for a few years of CoD. I was one of those annoyances with Kontrol Freeks, an SMG, high performance cans and the highest sensitivity allowed. I've been going 2:1/3:1 for KD which isn't as hot as I'd like, but that's to be expected with rust and new environs
and teammates that can't seemingly keep UAV's on the map. :shakefist:

The only performance issue I have noticed is some slight frame drops on a regular PS4. Hit detection seems fine to me and no lag noticed yet.

I'm not hating it, but I'm not finding anything I expect to keep me interested for the long-run. Winning alone isn't as rewarding as it used to be.

Finally got to give this a few hours play yesterday. Now the last two CoDs I skipped so was interested to see a return to a more grounded vision of the game.

I found it alright, but I can see this going the way of BF1 initial player base then most people disperse to previous games.

Enjoyed playing it last night. Been using the PPSH-41 with the airborne division suppressor. I can't aim for shit with it without the suppressor. The difference is staggering.

I also completely suck at CoD. So far a good game for me is a 0.75 KD. This game is fun and I'll play for the beta but I don't think i have a need to pick it up.

Also it still shocks me that the default isn't to mute everyone. I never want those few seconds of annoying kids talking.

Sprint-out times are a tad slow, but I'm worried that a reduction in SOT will just make SMGs more dominant than they already are.

Has this happened with BF1? I was thinking about buying the edition with all the DLC's, but if a lot of people have jumped back to BF4 I will just re-download that. I really wish we had a better way to see how many people were playing games on PS4.

I've been having fun in TDM. Went to check out War cause I like the idea of objective play pushing on a map, but then I got the the "Build a Bridge" part and... nope.

Not played it yet but seen the vids. My biggest annoyance was the ui and the stupid medals. I was seeing like 10 in a row flash on your screen in some vids , plus they are large.

not played alot of cod multi in the past , but seems overly intrusive here .

Oh boy These maps dont leave any breathing room

SMGs down ligtning fast and everybody is drop shotting. Its shocking how prevalent it is

Rifles feel fine but its unfortunately outclassed by the SMGs, in combination with the map design

Trench map sucks. Really hope they add bigger maps

The divisions and perks are fine, and Im happy the game is slower and restricted

I got into the beta last night, almost missed my chance cause EB never gave me a code when I preordered.

I think its been said but this game basically plays as a modern, 2017 version of World at War (which was my fav in the Call of Duty series)

Everything is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. My fingers are still crossed for the inclusion of tanks in some maps like World at War had. Even though it was simple tank play, it still added to the gameplay but other than that I'm good.

Visually the game looks great, especially for a beta, I can confirm there is plenty of blood as I've been killed plenty of times not really having played Call of Duty in a long time. The sound is amazing, it was like music to my ears hearing that bandolier clip flying off after I picked up a discarded M1 Garand in a battle with a sniper opposite my side of the map.

The explosions, sounds of planes, soldiers screaming for bandoliers, ammo or just hearing the Axis forces yell in German all add to the feel of the game. I'm kinda missing the voices of Keifer Sutherland and Gary Oldman in their voice over rolls tho.

The weapon choices in the beta are pretty decent, I was happy to see the M1 Garand, the STG-44 is there as well and can be unlocked as you progress abit into the beta. I was a little disappointed that the B.A.R wasn't in the beta as it was my "go too" in World at War but I know it'll be in the full game.

Call of Duty: WWII legitimately makes me happy.
