Something just feels off to me when playing it. So far I really haven't enjoyed it. It feels stiff no matter how much I put the sensitivity up.
I'm only really playing out of sick curiosity at this point - how in God's name has ten years of progress beyond Call of Duty 4 lead to this thoroughly mediocre garbage?
There was a real opportunity to use WWII as a reset, to throw a lot of the franchise tropes out and provide a really gritty and impactful Call of Duty game, instead we've got yet another reskin. It's laughable that the time to kill feels lower, and the guns easier to use, in this game than they did in Call of Duty 4. It really sums up how superficial the World War aspect of this game is.
For the most part therefore it suffers from the same problems as all the other CoD games. The assault rifles are too versatile so it's hard to understand why you'd use the SMGs, LMGs, or snipers. The circular maps and spawning system conspire to ensure you never have any idea where your enemy is coming from, making practically unpreventable deaths from people behind you extremely common. Head glitching is still a thing. This game seems to feature far, far more people corner jumping and dolphin diving than even the CoD games that were based around movement and 'momentum'. There's just so little to like. I do kind of like the bipod concept with the LMGs, which I think is new, but that's really about it. The sound design seems really lacking, particularly in terms of how loud things are that are right next to you. The number of times an enemy is seemingly silent despite being a few feet away sprinting is ridiculous.
The War game mode is particularly disappointing. It's a good idea on paper and one I've been hoping to see fo ra long time. Yet the map design is simply appalling. It basically turns into a slugfest between the attackers who have to run and gun and the defenders who have to camp in windows. The bridge area is quite unbelievably bad, I can't believe anyone signed off on that. Who the hell thinks that it's a good idea to have an objective which requires you to be ompletely without cover, in a game where the time to kill is practically zero and spawning isn't even remotely delayed? The objectives feel befitting of a game like Overwatch, with tanks and shields, not Call of Duty. It's not like the other objectives are really interesting or play well, but fuck me the bridge is dumb.
Yeah for me too. The aim assist really bothers because when I'm trying to aim at somebody, the assist takes over and doesn't let me control it the way I want. I've never had a problem with this in a COD before.Something just feels off to me when playing it. So far I really haven't enjoyed it. It feels stiff no matter how much I put the sensitivity up.
Just tried the beta. Man this game definitely feels like the old CODs before wallride and all that other stuff was implemented. I only played TDM and the maps were OK. There's a lot of entrances into rooms/areas but it's not so bad with how the game is slowed down. I don't understand how people can say the spawns are broken because if you actually understood how that gametype works then you will have a general feel of where they're coming from. People complaining about getting shot in the back need to stop fucking running into the middle of the map where all of the crossfire is coming from. If you like cod when it only had sprint then I think you'd like this game.
Bingo. It feels exactly like COD before it was ruined by the jetpack nonsense. There things I feel need to be tweaked, but overall, it's what I wanted from this return to form.
I don't think this plays anything like sayyyy...Black Ops 2?...which is my all time favorite...
Where is it freezing? I've had zero freezes on PS4 Pro...one hard crash in hours of playtime
I've never had it freeze on me.
Part of the problem is to most people beta=demo...To all you people shitting on the graphics: Most of the time Devs put in lower res textures and shit for betas to reduce the download size do more people play it.
Christ we go through this same shit every time there's a beta. You'd think people would remember this.
I haven't played BO2 since it was the current COD, so it's been too long for me comment on that, but it feels exactly like I remember a typical boots on the ground COD feeling. They just need to increase the sprint distance. Significantly.

They don't really understand that a beta test is literally to test game systems and such...
Plays just like every other COD with boots on the ground. Netcode is just as iffy as ever. Host still seems to have a big advantage. With how much money COD makes, still can't believe this game doesn't have dedicated servers.
Still the biggest offender, since Ghost, why does every map have hundreds of branching paths. If you don't get killed half of the time from behind, you are damn good and/or damn lucky. The pathways don't make any sense. Seems like just random placements to get the require 3-5 ways. Just look at WW2 trench map.
I really feel like they should have included more maps in this beta. At least one more for the War mode.
I agree, I'd like one more war map because I'm having fun with that mode
Can you join parties? It's not working for me and a friend.
yes. Make sure your party is set to open.
? I did it earlier with 3 other people.Hmm okay. Inviting to game just doesn't work.

War is definitely the only somewhat fun mode for me. And even then, every time I played war, I just kept thinking that I would rather be playing overwatch. The whole push/pull just feels intensely more balanced and fun there. And in terms of gunplay, I'll stick to the Crucible in Destiny. That's been my main multiplayer shooter for the past 3 years for good reason. It feels much more fair to spot someone, still have a quick-ish TTK, but also have time to react, engage, disengage, outmaneuver, etc. Maybe my tastes have changed, but this fast TTK is just really itching me the wrong way. I can't even scope in my gun before I die.
Speaking of which, has the TTK always been this insanely fast? I honestly haven't played a lot since World at War, and COD4 before that. It's been many years, but I don't remember it being THIS fast. I prestiges a few times on both of those too.
One compliment - love the outfits, and female soldier option. Feels very cool! I want to like this game so bad but it's making it hard.
wtf happened to this series hahaIf anything, this game is slower than the previous COD games of the last few years.
I've gone and played tonight exclusively with the airborne class and an SMG tonight...
SMGs MUST be nerfed for retail release... MUST
wtf happened to this series haha
They removed jetpacks and boost jumping, and you didn't expect it to get slower?...idk man...
