no need for extra plot, just inject Leon into other games to make them better. RE1 begins with Leon killing the dogs, realizing Wesker's involvement, then it's over. None of the other games happen after this; the game is 3 minutes long. Will be hailed as the best 3 minutes of gaming ever.

Enter Lab. It is a round room, made of shiny metal and lots of circles and easily breakable vertical glass tubes. A large tube in the center is filled with green bubbles; the contents are obscured. LORD GARRET, mysterious Romanian master of the virus, is standing in front of a console, his back to LEON.

LEON: It's over, Garret! [LEON aims his pistol]

LORD GARRET: [turns, his robes swishing all cool] Ha ha. So, Kennedy... you wish to die... [His eyes glow and shoot lasers]

[Slow Motion] Red laser beams fly towards LEON, who jumps into the air, pulls a knife out his boot, pulls a smaller, laser knife out of the first knife, and deflects both laser beams back towards GARRET. GARRET presses a switch on his organic monocle, a laser-proof shield pops out of the ground.

LEON: Nice light show. Now it's time for some fireworks!

GARRET: Oh, not yet, Kennedy... [he disappears in a flash of light]

LEON: Garret! You can run, but you can't hide!

GARRET (over intercom): You are the one who will be running, Kennedy...

The tube in the center of the room stops bubbling. There is a TYRANT inside.

GARRET: A clone of Wesker, modified to be a Tyrant... Kennedy, not even you can stop this.

LEON: Must be hard finding sunglasses to fit that big head.

Close-up of the NEMESKER; its eyes open and it clenches its fist.

LEON pulls out a rocket. He throws it up it the air and does a spinning round house kick, launching the rocket into the tube. NEMESKER is instantly destroyed. LEON emerges from the flames, unharmed, and carrying an electric guitar. All women (and several men) within 100 miles instantly orgasm.

Ahem. Anyway, if this is REm2ke here's what I want to see.

-RE4 over the shoulder camera
-To compensate for the camera and aiming, RUNNING ZOMBIES
-Mercenaries
-Moar puzzles
-Ada scenario A and B alongside Leon and Claire's game

LEON wakes up in the Demon World.

LEON: Ugh... where... am I? [He looks up in shock]

The Moon explodes as DANTE snowboards down a space shuttle. DANTE then shoots the space shuttle to blow it up, and grabs onto a pterodactyl. The pterodactyl squawks as DANTE flies it through a flaming roller coaster loop. DANTE lands, and his demonic roller blades propel him across the street towards LEON.

LEON: Who is this guy? He's got some moves.

DANTE rolls past LEON, and brakes to a halt in front of a mailbox. He turns towards Leon, a dark grin on his face.

DANTE: Heh, this is just what I do every morning to get my mai-

DANTE is cut off by LEON pointing his finger. DANTE is immediately destroyed at the atomic level and fades into nothingness.

LEON: I thought so. He wasn't actually extreme. He was just a douche.

LEON shakes his head in disappointment, and punches a hole back into his own universe. The Demon World is accidentally destroyed as a side-effect.

NO MORE FUCKING REMAKES OR PORTS! Seriously fuck you Capcom, if this is anything but a new RE4 style playing RE game Capcom can fuck off. I'm sick of their shit this gen.

RE4 was on cell phones. Yes, they can port down RE5.

RE5 on Wii would be analogous to RE1 and REmake.

That said, there ARE instances in RE5 where having next-gen technology made that particular portion possible.

As long as it's not in PS1 level graphics, fine.

If there's no way that it could even be attempted on the Wii (and that's not even a possibility, if they're willing to downgrade it enough), then just take it out and replace it with something else. PS2 couldn't handle the real-time cutscenes from RE4 for the GameCube, so they worked around it. If they cared enough, they'd work around it here, too.

Don't know if this has been thrown out there yet but my guess is a US release for the Wii ports of RE-make and RE0. My second guess would be the Umbrella Chronicles 2. I'd like to be wrong though; a RE-make style remake of RE2 would be fucking Godly.

Godly.

I don't know why Wii fans are pissed that there not getting a new RE game. RE series was never WIDELY associated with Nintendo. EVen when it was "exclusive" for a few years sales were abysmal and Nintendo fans choose games like Wind Waker, Animal Crossing, and Double Dash over Remake and Zero.

The serious has always been more closely associated with the Sony Playstation platform and it makes sense to have it on Xbox 360 because of the similar user base. Porting RE 4 to wii and making the Umbrella Chronicles should be good enough for people foolishy bought the Wii as there primary console.

IMO Capcom should just make Resident Evil 4: II. Kind of like Final Fantasy X-2 (story wise) that it continues the plot of Resident Evil 4 but still using Leon and all the old characters. Capcom can just reuse the engine but optimize it for the Wii and reuse but polish some of the old textures from the old game and create new ones for the new environments and there ya go.

smh

IMO Capcom should put the time and effort of any given AAA title into their next RE Wii game.

Could you give some examples (I'm honestly curious to know).

One boss battle with a very, very, very giant BOW and a satellite laser.

They could come up with a solution, certainly, just like they did with Dead Rising.

Not sure your analogy works in the same sense though. They did the same thing with the 360 scenes in Dead Rising for Wii. Actual gameplay bits are a different beast.

"smh"?

Anyway I was just thinking under "Capcom terms". If it was up to me I'd have Capcom make a brand new survival horror IP with Resident Evil 4's gameplay only to further harmonize with the Wii's controls for the system.

Can they port it down and still have the game be on par with the other versions? Hell you could port Crysis to the Nintendo DS if Crytek wanted to.

And I want a hunter killer droid/screaming cowboy team up against the horrors of poorly designed FF characters and medieval zombies and dragons that shoot lasers out of their mouths set to classic rock music but its not gonna happen now is it!

If it's going to be a remake of Code Veronica, they better change it up to play like RE4 because that is the only way I'd find it enjoyable.

Indeed. CV was a mess. The horrible amount of fetch quests could only be helped by good combat. RE2 could stay in its original style because it isnt a slog

I would be happy with either a complete RE2 or Code Veronica remake.
Still rather have RE2 cus of Leon being in that one, not much of a Chris fan.

cvxfreak said:

Definitely. I took a look at some Youtube videos of RE5 looking for what you spoilered. I didn't see a
satellite laser
, but I did see one that said it was a
B.O.W. Boss battle
. Instead of a full-on, free-roaming fight, they could tie the enemy down more and have the focus be on fighting parts of it at a time. QTEs with pre-rendered cut-scenes could also be part of it. Just throwing out stuff. Personally, I'd be fine with RE4:Gaiden, too.

I think I'm just pretty upset lately about the bait-and-switch so many third-parties are pulling with the Wii right now. Ubisoft's comments this entire generation, EA with Dead Space, and now Capcom is teasing about Resident Evil. I'm not into wearing tinfoil hats, but the major reason given last generation as to why third-parties tried so back-brakingly hard to put their games on PS2 and barely put any effort into GameCube was that PS2 is where the userbase was. Now the userbase is quite plainly with the Wii, and third-parties are still trying back-brakingly hard to avoid it saying it's because of the Wii's capabilities. It seems a lot like they're going to make up whatever reason they can to avoid going to Nintendo, regardless of any other factors that may be involved.

I guess it's my own fault for getting my hopes up with Ubisoft's and EA's comments. I should've known better. I think Capcom is just reaping my antipathy towards other companies like those two, at the moment. Better to not tease games and just put them out there. If it is a port of RE5, I'd rather them not say anything about it until they announce it than tease about it months before.

Storyline wise in Re2 wasn't the reason the RPD was in a museum due to a rennovation of the actual police department, so it could be possible to set a new game in the 1.5 style building and not mess with the series storyline.

Going by what Capcom gave us in UC and what i'd like to see I'm going with...

Resident Evil: Zombie Assault.
A first person action game in which you defend the modernised yet incomplete Raccoon City Police Department from the zombie onslaught, plus you play as a Clint Eastwood style character.

Things that would make me happy:

Resident Evil 2: Gamecube Remake Style
Resident Evil 2: Resident Evil 4 Style
Umbrella Chronicles II: RE2, RE:CV, RE4, RE5 Chapters

There are a lot of
BOW Boss Battles
in the game, so you probably didn't see the right one. Capcom did take A LOT of liberty with Dead Rising coming to Wii, but admittedly, RE5 wouldn't be nearly as drastic. They might have to split certain areas up into multiple rooms, and I doubt the enemy count would be as numerous. If the original team worked on RE5 for Wii or PS2, it would turn out to be a fine game that would be even more like RE4 than RE5 already is.

Capcom should listen to you.

A Code Veronica Wiimake would be fucking awesome. That game was one of the best RE's I have played when it came out for the Dreamcast.

Shut up, if they are planning on REMAKING any previous game, I certainly hope they will aim X360 and PS3, we need HD versions of these games! If anything, Capcom is planning a PORT of Code Veronica with awesome RE4-style Wii controls, no less, no more...

:lol

I would hate a remake of any kind with RE4 controls. Remakes with original controls are meh. Any sort of game that has action/adventrue game play ala RE4/5 then I will be happy.

If this news that's supposed to send Wii owners to their feet is in fact some kind of Code Veronica port or remake deal, it would appear as if Capcom purposefully chose the game they knew people liked the least of the entire franchise for no other reason than to annoy and anger people. Like a Devil May Cry 2 port, or a Street Fighter: The Movie remake. I just don't see how you can see people beg and plead for a Resident Evil 2 remake for years -- Capcom must have access to the Internet -- and then take it all into consideration and announce a remake/up-port of the game that's second only to the inept Zero in the "Yeah I'm not gonna play this one" count in the RE series playthrough thread.

If Kotaku ends up being on the money, then I can only count the days until the announcement of the Outbreak File #2 port with no online.

I'd sooner have an original(ish) game rather than a pure remake.
A Wesker spin-off..or a game based around the original supernatural version of RE4...or even a side scrolling point and click adventure using similar gameplay/controls to Zack and Wiki.
Technically, Umbrella Chronicles was a Wesker spinoff.

I'd bet on the RE0/1 Wiimakes. I'd be annoyed, but I'd consider buying them again if it was set up as a doublepack from the get go.
They're straight ports with absolutely nothing added. Buying them again would be completely pointless.

It was even worse when Code Veronica came out, because to me it was painfully clear that CV was the actual sequel to RE2, and RE3 was just a quick and dirty gaiden that they slapped together to keep the RE name alive while CV was in production... and I watched helplessly as everyone went on and on about how great RE3 was and how they didn't care about CV because it was "just a side story". Fleh.
Funny enough, CV originally was RE3 and 3 was the spinoff, but Sony made Capcom keep the numbered series on PlayStation, so they changed up the titles.

Most likely. If I've learned one thing this gen it's that whenever game developers say that Wii fans will be very happy it means the exact opposite will be true :(
