Capcom: RE Revelations not fit for Vita

I agree with you about sony. God knows wtf they are doing on their asses. They don't even do a good job of promoting their upcoming vita games smh

And I am not denying that this is a business choice. I have no problem with it. I just don't like BS PR. Rather they keep silent.

I do not think vita is a complete disaster. For that to happen there should be issues with the hardware for starters. And at least for now the software has been great for it. But I agree, sony needs to really step it up because vita faces an uphill battle

I'm already depressed enough today after reading Vigil's layoffs and what may lead to a closure. Vita has been depressing for the past few months despite and its becoming more and more obvious that it wont be able to make that U-turn or come out drumming up support in software.

Sony doesn't do enough to market anything great in general. If that wasn't evident enough in 2012. They solely relied on word of mouth and threw money down a chasm for the all-stars commercials and Callofduty/Assassin's creed vita commercials. They were terrible, and this has been handled terribly.
Twisted Metal was marketed terribly, it didn't attract the kind of people who played it on their PS1s and only broke even. Starhawk managed to do even worse, and despite being a phenomenal game, recieved no marketing whatsover. Journey just got out through word of mouth, but there wasn't much risk compared to LBI or Eat,Sleep, Play. LBP:karting was sent out to die from the beginning, and then all-stars had a botched launch (recieved marketing, but the game could have definitely used some quality control since it was lacking in content and polish besides MP matches).

That being said, its not that I hate the vita. Everyone has probably heard that it is a beautiful piece of technology, and I love playing the few games I have on it. Especially all-stars and ToM:Blitz.

But then when I see stuff like this, its eh. Sony never had any huge gunners for the psp in terms of first party support, they had patapon and loco roco so I guess you could pin it on SCEJ, but they developed a good original title known as gravity rush for the vita.

The main heavy hitters for the PSP were third party, and where is that?

Capcom switched directions and wont even offer the vita a measly port of monster hunter for the system, and everyone and their dogs in japan knows that at if they had done so it wouldn't be in the situation that it is now.

I don't care about Monster Hunter, I never did. Never understood the appeal in it on the psp, but I did appreciate that it brought a crowd of people to the system to play games with and discuss about games. And to hear about its success in japan. It pushed out more and more unique games from other developers.

The next few months leading up to E3 will determine if this will be a make or break for the vita. If anything I expect sony to announce very little games for it and just let it live there going onwards for the next few years until it slowly dissapears. Third party has already bailed and never got on board.

Revelations would have done nothing for the vita, I'm not surprised it wasn't announced for it, but then again I never really had faith in capcom to begin with. I don't care that they took monster hunter to the 3DS, but keeping it exclusive knew it would have spelt doom for the vita. They can enjoy their Nintendo monopoly in handhelds again. I'm done here.

Yes, I'm pointing fingers at capcom for this, can't really do much. Sony is just as incompetent but I'm getting tired of blaming them. What they offered on the vita is atleast good and showed promise. They should have just given whatever capcom wanted from them to save the vita from grace in japan. Might have been alot more vita support from other studios then.

I really don't think at this point that anything the vita might get will be that Killer App for it. Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway, killzone look promising but not enough to save the vita from its fall.

I'm rather disappointed. Both in the fact that they're not bringing it to the Vita (despite it being a great fit) and in the fact that they're not being honest about it.

It's really a shame to see a handheld as well designed as the Vita get the shaft for software support from even it's own company.

Soul Sacrifice >:3

And PSO2 >:3

>:3

lol

Those were greenlit some time ago.

If a developer tried to pitch that to a publisher now they'd to the part where they said "Vita" and the publisher would just look at them and go....

I think it's a dead platform, to be honest. We'll see the games announced for it trickle out (well, the ones actually in development anyway), nothing really major will get announced, and then it'll just kinda fizzle out without some big announcement.

Agreed. I think some of the known-but-unannounced games (i.e. Sony Bend's next project) still have a decent chance of seeing the light of day as well, but I can't imagine that even Sony will be too eager to greenlight new projects for the platform this year.

I still need someone to explain to me how this one works on Vita. Doesn't it need to be online at all times to be played?

Yesh :3 F2P and micro transactions. Man they should package the game with every Vita along with a 32GB or something. That's be cute if they made a custom LE vita too.

Buy a 3DS? Honestly I hope I get my GameStop job. 15% off new games sounds nice. Plus best first job ever right?

OMG I'm jelly! I always apply there! Hope you get in! Also I already imported a JP MH3G 3DS at launch. I'm a huge MH fan which is what I got it for. I did sell my US 3DS but that was because I had no need for it. I played everything on my JP 3DS. I shall upgrade my JP 3DS to a XL MH4 one if they make one. Also I will of course buy Pokemon XY here in the US so I'm getting an XL. Ill be broke. Cheers!

GAF should make a new topic on how to save the vita. If its even possible now.

I'm fine playing All-stars matches 24/7 or playing on my 3DS. To see everything go to one handheld is just depressing though. A monopoly is the worst thing I could imagine and I dont see the vita doing a turn around or anyone else stepping up.

Oh it's possible to save it. But it requires drastic action that Sony doesn't seem to be willing to do. I'm PRAYING that E3 will prove me wrong.

Honestly I was joking when I told him he should just give me a job. He gave me an application and told me to bring it back when he was on shift. Its funny I make some really great impressions. A lot of time when I go to game stop they remember me. I also get free things from there. I got my Puma Messenger bag for free. I still use it today. Me and my friends joke about how my charisma is max level. :3

Lower your expectations sis. The only time we saw anything was Gamescom and TGS. :3

That's great! With that much charisma you will get the job in no time :3

E3 will have next playstation and xbox, as well as new mario, smash bros, and mario kart games.
i don't think that anything having to do with the Vita will even make a ripple in the waters, let alone any waves.

They handled E3 terribly for the vita last year, and I only expect dissapointment. Well actually I expect nothing, so I probably won't be dissapointed in terms of the vita. And I thought the sony conference was terrible as a whole last year but thats just me.

On the other hand I thought 2011 E3 was amazing in terms of the sony conference but nobody agreed with my on that. Hype level was maximum enough for me to finally buy a ps3 that year with all the exclusives they launched that year alone and looking forward to starhawk and twisted metal in the following year.

The only thing the manager was worried about is my lack of sales experience.

But I always go in dressed to impress. Keep my head held high and smile. And be confident. Of course its about games which is one of my best subjects. The other being movies.

What exclusives if you don't mind me asking? I know they have some I want. But I'm interested in what others like. So far I need Heavy Rain, Haze, Vahykria Chronicles, Heavenly Sword (I heard its bad), I did want to try Eye of Judgement. But I haven't been into a card game in forever.
Edit: Not an exclusive to PS3 but I would love to have that Lost Planet 3DS or PS3 version. It looked really nice.

Despite all the Vita doom in this thread, I still think Vita has a chance. The year's just begun. Plus its hasn't even been out a full year (in US).

Wow they managed to give out a worse response than Kojima not developing for Wii U cause he wanted to "make full use of the pad in a game" and Miyamoto's F-Zero respone "Well, F-Zero rarely evolves so need for another game but oh boy aren't you guys exited for NSMBU"

Well for that year I only had a wii before and was looking into a PS3. But after looking at the list, I thought 2011 was phenomenal for the PS3 and I bought one for full price.

It had forecasted steady releases the entire year with Littlebigplanet 2, Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 one, Socom 4, Yakuza 4, Disgaea 4, Motorstorm: Apocalypse and at the time it was unsure when Twisted Metal, Starhawk, Sorcery, and Journey would release in late 2011 or early 2013 but I was hyped up like crazy back then.

Pretty much all of those exclusives besides Socom 4 delivered, but they lost a lot of momentum with the PSN hacks. The last guardian never came out either, but the Ico & Shadow of the collosus HD collection made as a nice void to make some people think it would finally come out soon. Too bad it never did.

Looking back I still love 2011 for all those releases. Sure not all of them were super huge hitters but I enjoyed most of thost games. only games I didn't try out was socom, yakuza, disagea and motorstorm which have been on my list to get for awhile now.

Again, if you want to be this way, explain why you think it has got a chance. Where's the software? Where's the enthusiasm from Sony? Or the desire to steer the ship away from dark waters?

Wasn't their a comment that he was surprised that people wanted it?
Also another about it being in Nintendo Land?

Speaking of that, where is Kojima's support for the Vita? ZOE HD is now MIA. All those talks about fox engine and transfarring and it only exist for MGS HD Collection.

I already said I think its kind of early. Granted SCEA seems to lack direction, just call me an optimist. Who knows maybe Sony will announce something later on in the year. 3DS went through some struggles when it first started out, but it eventually got itself going. With all the money Sony has put into the Vita, I just don't see them giving up on it only after a year. It is only January, I'd give until at least e3 before joining the Vita is completely dead crowd.

Not even mad. As a happy Vitabros with a few games on the horizon and a handful of great current vita games im just happy with the psp and psone collection i can play on it. I blame Capcom for the lame excuse but as ive said all along the blame is squarely on Sony. They have treated the Vita like a shunned child from the beginning and when the console manufacturer treats their own console that way how can you possibly expect consumers and third parties to feel excitement and confidence in your product. I still cant forget E3, it was so incredibly telling of Sonys attitude and intentions with Vita. Unless they really are intending to tie Vita with PS4 and they have considered this a really bad soft launch then im not confident. I still love my Vita, and despite Sonys lack of enthusiasm its a wonderful piece of hardware with some great games and wonderful BC catalog. I dont want to see it die off without seeing its full potential but this is all on Sony.

This is just sick. We're repeating last year!

"Wait for E3"

...

"Wait for Gamescom"

...

"Wait for TGS"

"Wait for the Holidays"

3DS struggled, yes, but it got system sellers in it's first year, and Nintendo proved early on that they were willing to work their butts off to make it a success. Sony lacks the drive, and they seemingly lack the interest.

Well to be fair Kojima says a lot of things.

A lot of things.

Wasn't their a comment that he was surprised that people wanted it?
Also another about it being in Nintendo Land?

That was the same comment.

He was surprised to hear people demanded another game, said the series rarely evolved, and then basically said "Have fun with the nintendoland f-zero game though!"

Good lord.

Look guys, if you don't want to develop for the Vita because it's not a huge market, whatever, but at least don't bullshit about it.

Why give this dodgy responses? Be straight and say you don't believe there's a market for it.

Eh, not really good excuses. If you can bring it to PS3, 360, etc. you can bring it to PS Vita.

Nothing seems to be fit for Vita.

What happened to Vita being easier than the PS3 to develop for? And the PS3 is getting a port? Lame. It doesn't add up..

WOW. Why can't they give an honest answer?

LOL. It somehow fits every other platform on the planet, though.

If I didn't see the words "Vita" everywhere, I could swear I walked into a Wii U thread.
Let's see if the newest page has changed the tone of the discussion...

..... nope, still a Vita thread that's playing Wii U Thread's Greatest Hits.

It's interesting that you blame Capcom in the end when this lays entirely at Sony's feet. They make this choice at every hardware launch: expecting 3rd-party software to coast them through the first 1-2 years.

If you look at their software history, they tend to save ALL the heavy-hitters for the last 3-4 years, seemingly to gear people up for the next generation and repeating the cycle of expecting someone else to do the heavy lifting.

Combine that with a very probable sense of security in 3rd-party entitlement over what HAD been a floundering Nintendo and you have a recipe for disaster when the good times all come crashing down.

Not having enough foresight to see a problem with such a strategy coming? Sorry, that stays on Sony. No one should expect Capcom to do Sony's work of selling the console for them.

Exactly. Sony isn't dropping the price, they're not announcing big titles from their biggest studios, and they have no third party titles worth a damn in the pipeline. They clearly don't care about the Vita, and are damning it to death.
