Capcom's Yoshinori Ono interested in Nintendo vs. Capcom

I love all of these suggestions, except Hyde since I can't see him working at all. The whole pencil shaded aesthetic is an interesting concept though.
All you need to give him is a gun and voila!

Maybe it can be one game but with a "Smash-groove" and a "Cap-groove".

There can be a variety of flat stages alongside Smash's multi-level stages.

Capcom-style fighting has been adapted to platform/action-adventure gameplay before (the SNES X-Men/Marvel Superheroes games).

where is your avatar from?!

Oh god.

Can you imagine Ono's trolling combined with the Brawl blog updates?

Like the game not coming to any Nintendo consoles? Fuck, I'm sure if Capcom had their way, the game would be multiplatform.

"Enjoy this chaotic and fun experience full of colorful characters, Mario Vs. Megaman?! Insanity! Now available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC."

If it helps I blame Game Arts or i would if i disliked Brawl

If Nintendo handles it I want them to give it entirely to Sora and HAL Labs

Do it like they did Capcom vs SNK: Two games:

Nintendo vs Capcom, by the Smash Team, with all the crazy characters, playing like Smash

Capcom vs Nintendo, by Capcom's fighter team, focusing on the less crazy Nintendo characters (including people like Link, Samus, etc, but including a few crazy since hey, Joe and Arthur right?), playing like Marvel Vs

Also, what about a third game... a cart racer?

Agreed. If Ono wants to stay on as an assistant director or as an advisor for the Capcom characters, then I would be okay with it. Aside from that, though, I firmly believe that Sakurai should be the one in charge. Brawl, while imperfect, is an incredible game. Just include a tripping toggle and balance the characters a little more and you have perfection.

Only if they went insane with the Nintendo roster. Have like Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus for marketing purposes, and then go nuts. Balloon Kid, Marth, Kumatora, Tom Nook, EBA, oh and of course our Lord and Saviour Captain Falcon.

Heck, just do F-Zero vs Street Fighter.

After watching that hype as fucking 15K pot match for MvC2 and having the hankering for a new Smash styled game, I'm totally down for a Nintendo vs. Capcom/Super Smash Bros. vs Capcom set of games. Pie in the sky dreams excluded, yes this is a very good idea and someone in the know needs to get this pitched like yesterday.

Also if it's a VS style game, triple tags are a must.

What obscure Nintendo characters would you guys want to see in a Nintendo vs. Capcom made MvC-style?

Mike Jones - StarTropics (derp)
Lip - Panel De Pon
Takamaru - Mystery at Murasame Castle
Isa/Katchi - Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (most recent, so why not?)
Captain Rainbow
Daisy - Super Mario Land/Mario Sports
Issac - Golden Sun
Ray Mk. III
Little Mac - Punch-Out
Captain Syrup (playing a tron Bonne kinda role here) - Wario Land Series

Damn, there is a BIGASS character pool for obscure characters in a potential NinvsCap. =D

Would also like to add Cranky Kong (he used to haul ass in his day) and Geno (is he Square or Nintendo? I never found out).

There really wouldn't be much room for "obscure" Nintendo characters in a roster.

You have your givens
1. Mario
2. Luigi
3. Bowser
4. Link
5. Samus
6. Pokemon Character (Mewtwo or Charizard probably)
7. Star Fox Character
8. Donkey Kong

That's half your characters in a 15 man roster just with no-brainer characters. If you continue on and add

9. Captain Falcon
10. Kirby Character (probably Metaknight would work the best)
11. Yoshi
12. Game and Watch

And that's still not including a Fire Emblem or Mother character, both staples of Smash Bros.

I think Little Mac and Pit would also probably be characters, since both have been brought back from a very long sleep for the Wii/3DS.

To be brief, that really doesn't sit with me as being accurate, or at least omitting the reason why. The problem is if I sit here and detail it, people just go "lol tinfoil hat," but it's not as if Nintendo is particularly forthcoming when they're holding a grudge. (And that doesn't mean Sakurai personally.)

The basic story is, Nintendo didn't ask for Sonic & Snake, Sega and Konami specifically asked to be included. So what happened was, Capcom was totally ready to let them use Megaman, but they never specifically asked Nintendo to include him, and Nintendo is far too important to go around begging for characters.

All things considered Vaati would probably be a pretty safe inclusion

But who's side would he fight on?

Ammy versus Wolf-Link

heh
Vaati would be the final boss, obviously. A Capcom-made character that's a Nintendo villain? Final boss, right there.

It's not entirely Game Arts' fault, honestly. They were on a really, really tight development schedule. If they'd had another 6 months to work on it, a lot of the complaints about Brawl would disappear. It'd have better netcode, more characters, and fewer clones. A lot of the glitches and infinite throws would have been found and removed, and they could have tightened up gameplay on Subspace Emissary. You do recall that Nintendo announced SSBB before even getting in touch with Sakurai about making it. It was a rush job, and it shows.

I don't believe that at all. Melee had like half the development time of Brawl and it was amazing. With the time they had for brawl the game should have been much better. They just focused on the wrong things.

I can't believe in a sea of fantastic locations with fantastic, unique enemies, we got bland reskins of third rate Kirby enemies set into generic environments.

I mean, the early Donkey Kong levels were great and got me really excited, and then poof, every ounce of Nintendo was gone other than my playable character.

Every single enemy and location in the subspace could have been replaced with an iconic Nintendo location, and iconic enemies and have exactly the same level design, and the game would have been 10x more fun to play in singleplayer.

And another thing, the actual multiplayer levels were not that great in regards to their source material. Most weren't even based on actual locations from their game, just "inspired" by them.

We needed more levels like Norfair, 75m, that Metaknight level and Delfino and not levels like Frigate Orpheon, that one Donkey Kong level, that one Star Fox level, and mushroomy kingdom. They weren't really based on anything... just kind of "inspired" by the game.

The levels in Melee/64 are memorable because most are literally cutting an exact piece of a game, making it match the art-style of the game, and there we go. Brawl had too many "inspired" levels.

I really don't think the first part of that is true. The dev time for both games was roughly the same, the difference being that Brawl had more characters, assist characters, and The Subspace Emissary, so it was more work in the same amount of time, with a completely different development team. The second part is certainly true, though, they did spend too much time on Subspace Emissary and not enough time on the main vs game.

So... roster predictions? At least from the Smash Bros side:

-Mario (given)
-Link (given)
-Samus
-Peach (estrogen, and her smash moveset would work pretty well in a 2d fighter I think)
-DK
-Fox
-Captain Falcon (fan favorite, and fits well)
-Marth (fits well)
-Zelda/Sheik (in game transform?!?)
-Bowser
-Ganon
-A Pokemon

1. I feel like too many short characters would be weird, imo more than 2 is too many (Mario and Fox)}. Sorry Kirby, you just don't fit in. Blame Nintendo for making so many midget characters.

2. Pikachu would be a crappy choice. Someone like Lucario
OR FUCKING BLAZIKEN
would fit much better.

Honestly, the list above in a 2D fighter would be GOD LIKE.

And here I was just begging for mega man or phoenix wright in Smash Bros...but this would be a dream. A hybrid of SF and Brawl, although I have no idea how it would work, would be stunning. The two games contrast each other so much with SF being the tried and true and Smash Bros being the imaginative and break out formula that doesn't rely on SF's precedents.

Damn, I would love the character battles, but the mechanics of it all...that's something to think about. Unless they just go with either the SF preset or the Brawl preset and call it a day, which would be fine I guess.

You forgot the one and only CHARIZARD in your list of great Pokemon that would work, and he'd provide a slightly different character shape. Charizard is the best pokemon ever, so he has to be in the game. Mewtwo would be an acceptable alternative.

Dedede would be fine, and Capcom is not shy of outing the primary character for a popular secondary character (Zero in MVC3).

I don't see Zelda getting 3 or 4 characters. Zelda would get 2, maybe 1, Link and probably some character from one of Capcom's Zelda games, like Vaati. Maybe Ganon instead, if Vaati were to be a final boss. Sheik by herself would also be a possible contender.

I also don't see the need for Peach. Yes, she adds a needed female character, but I just don't like the idea of packing half the roster with Mario characters. Mario, Luigi and Bowser would be plenty. Characters with dresses just don't seem to fit Capcom's designs with fighting games.

I'd bet on Pit and Little Mac. Both get/are getting new games and both have kind of come back from the dead.

Game and Watch would also probably be in, just because he's such a bizarre Smash Bros character that basically represents the handheld Nintendo side of Nintendo. He's also a unique character of Smash bros, so he'd kind of represent that also.

The development team of Smash Bros. consists of about 10 game companies. On the programming side alone there were members from Game Arts, Nintendo, Nintendo Software Technology Corp, HAL Labs, Monolith, AQ Interactive, Epoch. It was quite insane. I still think the Wii was the biggest thing working against it.

Sora has 1 employee, and HAL has become Nintendo's Pokemon factory. I'm not sure if they could deliver a next-gen blockbuster. Personally, I feel EAD Tokyo should take over or the Mario Kart team in Kyoto themselves.

But the Vs. series is phenomenal and really we shouldn't be spending so much time with the usual banter of Sakurai. I'm not one that has been blown away by anything Sakurai has done, over any other of the good-great designers out there. I really would like Nintendo vs Capcom to be Nintendo vs Capcom. Play like the classic frency of Vs, with Nintendo and Capcom characters.

I don't know how big the Cvs* rosters are but I'm bored. This list is ignoring Smash Bros and pretending it didn't exist:

Mario
Peach
Bowser

Link (a combination of Links rolled into one, using a special ability from multiple Zelda titles)
Zelda or Shiek or Malon and Epona (not totally serious lol)
Ganondorf

Samus Aran (Zero Suit pls)
The baby

Donkey Kong

Marth

Deoxys (could offer a unique fighting style; defense, attack, speed forms, etc)

King Dedede

Captain Rainbow

Kyle Hyde

Dog Ninja from Rhythm Heaven (or some other equally awesome character, like the chorus maestro)

Little Mac

Tom Nook (if he's probably taller now in the 3DS game)

That's all I can think of. I don't play a lot of SF so I don't know half the characters since SFAII. Is Charlie still around?

I've dreampt about this forever. I am a huge Nintendo fan but pretty much hate Smash Bros. . Would love to seem something more like Street Fighter IV than Tsatsunoko or MvC3. Those games are way to hectic. Don't care for a crazy huge roster either, just one that is balanced.

I'd like to add that i'm a complete SFIV whore.
