Yes but while Adama stood up to Cain, Picard made her step in line behind him.

And once Adama got to know her, he planned on having her assassinated to get rid of her bitchy ass. Sure, he didn't go through with it, but the fact that he planned it makes him pretty damn coldblooded.

He also fathered a President of all remaining humanity. And don't forget his uncle was a gay hitman for his mob family. You can't fucking beat that.
don't forget his eyes magicly changed colors from brown to blue :D

unless he was wearing blue contacts
all the time

seriously one would assume that the Caprica guys would go through the truble of giving some blue contacts to child Adama, just like old Adama had them to not fuck with contuinity

oh and my favorite characters from BSG are still Helo and Athena

Caprica Spoilers:
The kid in Caprica isn't Bill. That kid (Willie) dies and then they have another kid named after his older brother.

Lets not forget, Edward James Olmos was killing replicants/cylons even in alternate badass realities.

And his name was Gaff! Gaff! C'mon now.

Picard maneuver was used against a race of merchants who only care about profit. Adama's suicide drop was used against a race of killer robots to save his people.

Well shit if killing a bunch of killer Robots is the only criteria Janeway's better than Adama....

she isn't

but I'd take Picard in a fist fight with Adama. He always seemed very old and immobile.
I don't know man. Adama would hop in the ring with anyone in the fleet. He was a bad ass in the Season 4 mutiny too.

Oh and those killer machines? Adama ended up taking command of one of their ships. Assimilation is for desk jockies.

your right. I forgot he used to box.

okay, Adama is the likely winner in a fist fight. But Picard was not a bitch.

Assimilation did give Janeway the balls to find Batman, beat him up, and steal the Bat Shield technology.

Riker wins for not running the ship into the ground in his captain's absence.

Ferengi ships were on par with the Federation. The Marauder was just as capable as a galaxy Class nothing to take likely.

I don't know... At the same time, Tigh loses points for being married to the fleet whore.

Picard is best. Adama was a prick and unnecessarily confrontational.
Being unnecessarily confrontational is what keeps the Cylons from swarming all over you.

Sorry trekkies, but that is game, set, and match right there.

Picard Maneuver trumps that easily....
I'm a Trekkie, and even I can't argue that. That was my favorite moment in the entirety of Battlestar Galactica...the Picard Maneuver can't compete.

Even if Adama is better than Picard, he can't possibly beat Benjamin Fuckin' Sisko.

how did i not realize this before?! so badass.

How is this even a contest? It's Picard by far. He lived an entire second life in that flute episode. For all intents and purposes he's like 160 years old.

As of this moment... we are at WAR

Adama said:
Are they the lucky ones? That's what you're thinking, isn't it? We're a long way from home. We've jumped way beyond the Red Line, into uncharted space. Limited supplies, limited fuel. No allies, and now... no hope? Maybe it would have been better for us to have died quickly, back on the Colonies with our families, instead of dying out here slowly, in the emptiness of dark space.

Where shall we go? What shall we do?

Life here began out there. Those are the first words of the sacred scrolls, and they were told to us by the Lords of Kobol, many countless centuries ago. And they made it perfectly clear that we are not alone in this universe.

Elosha, there's a 13th colony of humankind, is there not?
Elosha said:
Yes. The scrolls tell us a 13th tribe left Kobol in the early days. They travelled far and made their home upon a planet called Earth, which circled a distant and unknown star.
Adama said:
It's not unknown! I know where it is! Earth. The most guarded secret we have. The location was only known by the senior commanders of the fleet, and we dare not share it with the public. Not while there was a Cylon threat upon us. For now we have a refuge to go to. A refuge the Cylons know nothing about. It won't be an easy journey. It will be long, and arduous. But I promise you one thing: on the memory of those lying here before you, we shall find it, and Earth shall become our new home.

So say we all!

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

Zack failed basic flight. He wasn't a bad pilot, he just had no feel for flying... when it came to his final check ride he...busted three of the test maneuvers. I should have flunked him, but I didn't. The bottom line is your...son...didn't have the chops to fly a Viper...and it killed him.
Adama said:
Reinstate the trainees to flight status.
Starbuck said:
I will...but I just want you to understand...that I-
Adama said:
Do your job. And walk out of this cabin...while you still can.

Adama said:
When you fight a man, he's not your friend. Same goes when you lead men.

Adama said:
You don't have any children, so you might not understand this, but you see yourself reflected in their eyes. And there are some things that I've thought of doing with this fleet, but I've stopped myself, because I knew I'd have to face you the following day.

Adama said:
No one should feel obligated to join this mission. This is a decision I have made for myself. If it turns out that there are not enough personnel to crew Galactica, I will lead a Raptor assault with anyone who is willing to join me.

Let there be no illusions; this is likely to be a one-way trip! Don't volunteer out of sentiment.. or emotion. There is a line running down this deck. Volunteers, move to the starboard side; Everyone else, to the port. Make your choice!

SO SAY WE ALL

People guzzling liquor in a completely ridiculous manner is a common trope, but BSG seemed particularly guilty of it with all the drunks and depressed tantrums on the show.

Finally!

I gotta go watch that scene right now.

OK, it looks like it's pretty even between these two, in terms of their leadership skills on their respective ships.

Now, let's see how they handle similar side jobs.

Adama taught a class of troubled young students how to pass a calculus exam.

Picard taught a class of troubled young students how to use their mutant powers.

Picard wins.

At the time the Ferengi were meant to be the major villain race of TNG. This was dropped afterwards due to poor fan reception.

Well the eyepatch seems to signal the point at which (depending on who you talk to) BSG starts to trend downward.

The beard is the universal Trek signal for awesome.

Shit, this is the only right answer.

Draft said:
Picard would just bust his grill with one of those Star Trek palm strike things. No contest.

And then follow it up with the double ax-handle punch to the gut and back of the head combo.
