leng jai said:Wow the bitching over the framerate is more severe than I would have expected based on the demo. I think I need to replay it. The framerate was 10 times worse in the Enslaved demo.

Rez said:My problem with FFXIII's visuals were that nothing really blended on a micro-level (characters on a field, plants on the ground, etc) or from a more wide-lensed perspective (chapter one versus chapter 5, to name two random examples).
Everything felt really sterile, like a series of blocks put together. The way the characters interacted with the environment was very 'PS2-era'. Everything felt totally, uh... weightless (maybe not the word I want to use here, I can't think of a better one at the momenty), as a result. It looked mostly pretty nice, but there was no signature look or visual motif that really defined it.
The notable exception to the above is, you guessed it, Chapter 11.

Amir0x said:People need to really evaluate the differences side by side. Honestly, Uncharted 2 is doing so many effects simultaneously that FFXIII simply doesn't even attempt - it truly is a league of its own. Shit, it does effects that 99.9% of all games PC included don't even do.
God where is this Castlevania DigitalFoundry comparison...
schennmu said:No way, Enslaved PS3 version tears like a bitch but 360 version was pretty smooth (not perfect). Much better than Castlevania! I'm no framerate whore, but 24fps in a GOW style game? GTFO Konami...
Y2Kev said:Ffxiii's texturing is not terrible, WTF. Look at thhe lake textures or the gran pulse valleys.
The ground textures are unacceptable though.

I only said my piece when somone said how much better looking UC2 is compared to XIII which was cearly after.
EvaPlusMinus said:Huh, for some reason I thought this was coming out on PC.
As I noted on the last page this is not the case. 360 demo runs slower overall. Ps3 demo uses triple buffeting while 360 does not. As a result, it drops harder and appears chillier as a result.ULTROS! said:Coz there's no Castlevania DF yet? :3
Anyway, from the impressions I've read, they more-or-less look similar, FPS seems to be the same except certain parts in the 360 version am I right?

0:27, was that you screaming?! (I previously thought it was Kittonwy, but now I'm positive that was you!)
jett said:The framerate in the PS3 demo of Enslaved at least is fucking awful, and the screen tearing only exacerbates the issue. At least Castlevania has no screen tearing at all.
Enslaved also looks several shades worse than CV but that's just me.
Just saying it's funny seeing you overenthusiastic about Uncharted 2 still (explaining parts of a chapter in detail so thoroughly)Amir0x said:no, I don't have time to go to E3 most years. Regardless, I don't know what your point was from that video, since Uncharted 2 is factually technically superior and your video didn't seem to add much to that debate

Amir0x said:Did Digital Foundry give a time on when we'd get the Castlevania comparison?
this isn't surprising, it was years ahead of the game when it launched, and one year on it is still years ahead of that pack.DarknessTear said:I replayed Uncharted 2 recently and I'm still blown the fuck away. Seriously.
Yeah I knew it was a joke, I thought my response to Kagari showed that, it seems it different sorry if I seemed like I was being a dick about it.Fimbulvetr said:360 version turned out better than I thought, still a shame though.
Effects I initially thought would be absent(early comparisons showed a lack of self-shadowing in 360 screens) are definitely there.
There were framerate drops, even outside of Pulse.
Textures are blurrier.
It's a dog eat dog world TP. The sooner you learn that, the easier things will go.
It was a joke post; you know that, right?

Snapshot King said:So, I'm getting conflicting messages here. Reviews say 360 versions have some weird hitching slowdown fighting enemies. Company twitter says they fixed that shit prior to release. Then a poster here says that shits still in the game.
Which is it? I'm buyin it tomorrow =\
Zeal said:i'm playing 360 and the minimal amount of framerate hiccups every now and then is not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the game. slowdown has been greatly exaggerated.
360 or ps3 version, doesn't matter. they're virtually identical.

Snapshot King said:How often would you say you run into these hiccups?
Zeal said:later in the game, when you run into about 6-7 enemies at a time, you'll occasionally experience maybe half a second or so of slowdown. it does not impact the combat or enjoyment at all. it's seriously almost insignificant.
ask yourself, is something so small seriously worth depriving yourself of the amazing atmosphere, music, art design, gameplay and sheer fun of the game? the answer for me was no.
edit: just to clarify, i've noticed some of the slowdown happens due to all the batshit insane combos you'll be able to pull off when switching between light and shadow magic.
Snapshot King said:It's not a question of getting the game. It's the question between using LT for dodging or L2.
Zeal said:i went with the 360 version because i liked the way the controller felt while playing it. that's about it.
Snapshot King said:I figured that way as well, but I'm playin the two demos back to back, trying to figure out which ones better. Because the gamespot review had some really bizarre hiccups that are the kind that infuriate me, not even slowdown, just straight up stops. But at the same time L2 and R2 are the worst buttons ever =(. I'm quite new at this kind of decision.
CcrooK said:Honestly, you're not going to get a good comparison between the demos. Better off wait to see what DF says then roll from there.
Snapshot King said:Yeah but I'll have bought the game by then :lol
CcrooK said:Just hold out. Unless you've already Amazoned or whatever.![]()
Snapshot King said:Just...hold...what? I don't understand. Game comes out tomorrow. Gettin it tomorrow. Never understood reviews (or what have you) going up after something comes out.
CcrooK said:Do you have it pre-ordered or just going into some retail and picking it up? If you have no pre-order, then wait it out on what version you want with the DF comparison. If you really don't care which version is better, then just roll with one you'd like best in terms of controller type you want, etc.
Snapshot King said:I'm implying I have no self control, actually. If its there, I'll get it. My compulsive nature won't allow me to just go "oh yeah I'll just wait another day for the game I've been waiting over a year for."
