Daaaaaaaamn!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, thuway.

Settling for 900p is kinda... idk... if I was paying $500 for a machine I'd at least be expecting 1080p now that we're in 2013.
Yeah I wasn't going to get my hopes up about 60FPS for every game this gen, because we all know how developers like to pretty stuff up with particle effects and lighting and what not and for better or for worse sometimes that takes priority over frame rate. But 1080P doesn't seem like it should be some unconquerable mountain. I just don't get it.

So wait, that oxm.uk article actually confirms that COD is 1080p at 60fps on the Xbox One?

http://www.oxm.co.uk/64778/call-of-...raphics-on-xbox-one-reiterates-infinity-ward/

As revealed by Eurogamer in June, the game runs at 60 frames per second in 1080p. "We actually have a 4K TV at work and got the game running on that," Rubin told the site at the time. "It looks phenomenal. The 4K TVs have a max hertz of 30, so we're maxing it out. It looks amazing!"

Speaking to us at Gamescom in August, Rubin reiterated that "it'll definitely look better". "Graphically I still love when we're playing in the office, when we play on Xbox One - you go up to a brick wall and you can see all the geometry of the bricks," he mused. "Even the little tiny cracks - you can see the geometry. It catches my eye, sometimes, even when we're in the middle of a firefight. It's like 'ooh, pretty'.

"For the Xbox One you're obviously looking at fantastic-looking graphics, super-smooth play," he continued. "We're pushing the limits on current gen, always - we're maxed out on everything from memory to processing power. I think we do a great job of doing that while still coming out with 60 frames a second. But with Xbox One I feel like we've got a lot to work with, and I'm really excited about where we push that in the future.

I feel like 1080p/60 FPS AAAA games are always going to be the holy grail. As developers continue to use advance effects that attempt to push the limits compromises will be made. Instead of 1 zillion triangles with every shader and aa applied, things will be scaled if that goal is to be met. But then again, machines have got very powerful and sophisticated now. Maybe another generation or two of architecture and programming mastery?

I am not a graphics technogod. I could and most likely be completely wrong with my feelings and assumptions on this.

Nope. Read the quote and the context carefully. It's slyly worded, as always with the press these days.

1.) As revealed by Eurogamer in June, the game runs at 60 frames per second in 1080p. 2.) "We actually have a 4K TV at work and got the game running on that," Rubin told the site at the time. "It looks phenomenal. The 4K TVs have a max hertz of 30, so we're maxing it out. It looks amazing!"

This article is 1.) simply using the original article as "proof" that it was revealed already to be 1080p and 60fps, and 2.) even goes so far as to take a direct quote from the original article to highlight this.

It's not new news, it's saying it's confirmed because that old ass article says it is.

That was said in June. There have been several downgrades since then, so it's not the most reliable data. In June, Ryse was also native 1080p.

There article is new info and just references June.

Edit: Oh wait nevermind. It doesn't. That quote about the 4k tv was from the June article. Carry on.

Let me scratch out my point a bit more: I don't like the air of negativity people are leveling at each other lately over what should be an exciting time in our hobby, because it does little more than stifle the discussion.

You're awesome, man. I couldn't agree more. I wish everyone could relax and enjoy the pre-launch fun as it only comes around once every few years.

thuway got banned! ONE DAY, can we go one day without any drama...

Who am I kidding, I love this shit. It is next gen time baby.

Making hay out of the rez of a build of a game that's 5 months way from release is silly anyway. XB1 performance will improve by then. The question is how much.

I think the issue will be on both consoles will be depending on if 1080p/720p and 30/60 FPS would matter from usual AAAA buyers, then a race to push as much out of the console as possible to end game "perfect to majority buyer" screen size and FPS.

This is why I'm here.

Signed up for the discussion on Next-Gen, stayed for the drama/megatons! This shit always makes my work day brighter.

Ohh okay, I see now. Strange that they wrote that on the 23rd of this month.

It's probably just to get something positive out there, regardless of the age of the information. Can't really blame them with how the last two days have been :/

Also, I edited my previous (and admittedly nasty) image to one that is far less offensive. I'll think twice before posting images again.

It was a pain seeing the PS3 struggles early in its lifetime. I suspect X1 will be the same way.

The problem this time around is that the Xbone doesn't have some of the advantages the PS3 did have...

- We knew there was a lot of untapped power in the PS3...the Xbone is less powerful AND harder to Dev for...

- Blu-ray..the Xbone doesn't have the benefit of being BY FAR the cheapest and most feature rich next gen HD format player on the market...actually the Xbone is the most expensive cable box on the market...

- Worldwide Studios..Sony has easily the most diverse group of AAA first party studios...

I'm counting down the days till I'll be able to grab an Xbone for less than $400...but there is no way I'm touching one at launch...as much as its going to hurt missing out on Forza 5

I'm confused. So all the talk of the PS4's GPU being significantly more powerful (as in 55% more TFLOPS) isn't true because of this ESRAM? Or that is still true, it's just that 720p isn't the bottleneck we once thought yesterday?

Yeah I mean, knowing this...it's not about what console is better or worse, but 500 quid is a lot to pay for a system that won't even keep up with today's standards, let alone in a couple of years.

Of course, that doesn't affect whether it will have great games or not, but most of the big games are multiplatform. Kind of a big blow, to be honest. That is, unless you really want Halo and Forza and Gears.

No eSRAM is there to make up for the slow DDR3. There's no solution for the GPU
