I think the point of the tweet was to say they're not going to charge you for ongoing updates or adopt MTX, which remains the case. Cyberpunk may have released as essentially an Early Access title, but you only need to pay once for it. (Unless you're counting expansions, which were paid even with Witcher 3).Cyberpunk 2077 was also full of hidden catch, I didn't get what I paid for (a finished product, AT LEAST) and the trailers where full of bullshit. It was absolutely NOT honest gaming like with Wild Hunt. They didn't leave greed to others, they reached new heights
So yeah, never forget. I'm bitter because I paid 50e for this after being deceived by one of my most trusted studio.
Lies. More lies. I lost every bit of respect I had for this studio, crazy they managed to do that.
Never forget:
I don't give a fuck about the GAAS aspect in the tweet. That's not what I'm pointing.I think the point of the tweet was to say they're not going to charge you for ongoing updates or adopt MTX, which remains the case. Same as above.CP2077 is GaaS? I didn’t see anything like that in my copy.
Most people responsible or the RED Engine aren't working at CDPR anymore. They got what they deserved for, money money money. You really thought they cared about you? No, it's money money and money. It's a patch not a new game or a remake. How could a patch be in development hell? Even CDPR isn't that incompetent.
Thats what they should do. Just gives us 60 fps and implement HD Texture Pack from Hogan and voila. It's enough.Just patch the frame rate up (on PlayStation) and a few bug fixes and just call it a day ffs
The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade is not in 'development hell,' CD Projekt insists
The big upgrade, announced in 2020, was delayed yesterday "until further notice."www.pcgamer.com
"I've been looking at the headlines that popped up here and there over the internet, and I've seen one that really drew my attention, which is, 'Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely,' which sounds like the game is in some sort of development hell," Nowakowski said. "I want to state this is not the fact. There's been a lot of insinuations that we're going to launch, like, June next year or something like that. That's completely not the case.
"Everything we're saying is—we have taken the development of the game in-house. The game is going to be finished in-house. We're evaluating our time, that requires a bit of investigation—that's all we're saying. Nobody's saying the game is delayed [with] some monumental time gap ahead of us. That's as much as I can say about Witcher next-gen, but I really want to emphasize that fact."
Lmao.
Then enjoy the game and don't quote me because I don't share your opinion.
You think a game made with a 1.3tf console in mind, tied to a spinning HDD won't get any upgrades moving to a 4tf console with a 3x better CPU and a far faster SSD?Well it’s the series s so probably not much at all
But don't quote an unrelated tweet.
If a company like Sony, for talk sake, bought CDPR, would that affect the timeline of Witcher 3? It's strange how they know it needs to be delayed but can't say why it needs to be delayed, or how long.
It's like saying you need more milk without checking the fridge.
you mean a game that was made for 1.3tf game console that got a upgrade for a console with 6tf and now is gonna get a next gen patch for a console that is 4tf isn’t gonna be impressive at all yes that’s what I’m saying. Havnt you been seeing the games released on series s lately developers have given up on already and barely put in the work on itBut don't quote an unrelated tweet.

People are jumping too quickly to assume it's in "development hell", maybe because of the recency bias of Cyberpunk 2077.It's a patch not a new game or a remake. How could a patch be in development hell? Even CDPR isn't that incompetent.

No way it hits 1440p and 60fpsThe One X patch gave either 60fps play or a resolution bump to 4K but at 30fps
Series S won’t bother with a 4K resolution bump and won’t need to spend GPU power to get to 60fps. There’s enough juice to get a 1440p 60fps mode with improved visuals and much faster load times. Possibly 1080p fps with even better visuals.
I know this isn’t the answer you want, but it’s what’s likely to happen.
They've been working on an "update" for the better part of 2 years.. Probably longer, it went from launching second half of 2021, to mid 2022, to 2023. So from announcement to release, best case, it'll have been 3 years. For an update. What would you call that? I love CDPR more than most I'd wager, but let's call a spade a spade here.People are jumping too quickly to assume it's in "development hell", maybe because of the recency bias of Cyberpunk 2077.
As it's already been leaked and stated by posters already, it's due to CDPR switching to their in house folk to finish off the development.
It really just comes down to unfortunate circumstances.
With the Witcher 3 the development is already largely done for them from the PC version and their original files, the only thing left is basically testing and tuning something specifically for the PS5/XSX...which is a bit of a taller order than it sounds, but it’s a different beast to creating a whole new expansion for a new game that had a bunch of launch problems plus a pandemic. They've been working on an "update" for the better part of 2 years.. Me, I played it on PC on 1050ti, then on switch (for novelty, it looks pretty rough haha), then on rtx 3060 at 4k60... Yes I like the Witcher series a lot. This is a very long RPG, how many people are actually going to play all the way through it again just for some graphical enhancements? Not a lot I think.
The patch was meant to launch in 2021, ~1 year before Russia went in to Ukraine. So how does an already late patch get delayed because of a war? They have said why. They're changing devs from a Russian-based studio to their own in-house studio.
Pay closer attention, people!
It's not necessarily even being delayed further, but they can't project the timeline until they assess the project and ramp production back up.The patch was meant to launch in 2021, ~1 year before Russia went in to Ukraine. So how does an already late patch get delayed because of a war?
That's a very good point. Thank you for clearing up the confusion for me.It's not necessarily even being delayed further, but they can't project the timeline until they assess the project and ramp production back up.

Bump
I did some digging and looks like there's little news. I guess this thing is coming out in 2021? That is too bad. I just bought the GOTY edition on GOG for $15. I played the original on release but stopped playing it because of the clunky controls and battle system. I want to give it another shot, especially with the Cyberpunk 2077 hype going around (picked that up but I'm going to wait for CDPR to iron out the bugs).
Yes. It. Will.Well they had a witcher 3 stream today they said and showed nothing about the patch. This is never gonna come out
2 years and not even a screenshotYes. It. Will.
Get out of here with this crap. The concern trolling for this beyond pathetic.
It's going to come.
IS it really necessary to show you some thing for a FREE upgrade? They've said it's coming at the end of the year. Its not like people don't know the game. It would be totally different if this was a paid upgrade then yeah, I'd like to see something.2 years and not even a screenshot
Apparently CDPR should be spending $1000s of marketting dollars to share info on this FREE update. It's free. Why people are concerned?
It’s costs $1000s of dollars to share a screenshot Lmao get realApparently CDPR should be spending $1000s of marketting dollars to share info on this FREE update.
As I said int he above post, CDPR's best option is to lay low and work on it. I am hopeful that it will be a pleasant surprise. If not, well it's free.

Lmao god of war will be out before this patchIt's free. Why people are concerned?
Name one Sony game that had this problem.Exactly. They're taking the time, money and effort to release this FREE of charge update to a 7 old year game to bring up to "current-gen standard".
Meanwhile there are countless first party flagship titles from companies like Sony or Microsoft that run and look like absolute shit compared to what's the today's norm.
Get a grip, people.
