Last time she did this, someone died. She's running last years playbook, the next tweet will be "So many many brave women have reached out to me".

She promptly forgot all about them the second Alex died and she was on the hook for that and went dark on Twitter.

EDIT: Here we go last years gaming #metoo that was hyped and then promptly forgotten about.

It's honestly disgusting how quickly the internet hate mob will throw you under the bus without any evidence whatsoever.

Allegations like this just shouldn't be aired on twitter. If it is serious enough, it's a matter for the police.

Also, I'm finding it difficult to see where the harassment occurred here? What did Avellone do exactly to become the latest sacrificial lamb to the baying twitter mob?
Here's the formula:

1. Throw out accusations against a known figure
2. Whip up the mob with your heartbreaking tale (250 characters at a time) of the abuse
3. Person responds, denying it
4. The mob gets angrier, bosses and brands receive emails and boycotts and so forth.
5. Evidence comes out showing that the accusations are false / highly exaggerated...
6. ....but at this point the mob has already been whipped into a frenzy, a living "Sunk Cost Fallacy" organism too afraid to disperse.

Over and over again.

It's a cult.

Like with the ZQ and Alec Holowka case she claimed to have actually have been assaulted by someone she wouldn't name but she then got into a relationship with Holowka and he was a shit boyfriend so she decided to wait a few years and try to publicly blame him, and ONLY him, for the failure of the relationship.

Like they are sitting there going over their relationship history asking "is there anything here I could use to destroy an ex".

That's a potential danger with the "Me Too" movement. You're encouraging women to share their me too experiences but for some they will need to stretch things a little bit to come up with something. Then you've got those who will gladly throw an ex that they still have a grudge against under the bus. All motivated by a desire to get a bit of attention and drama online for a couple of days.

Sent someone a dirty text seven years ago? No no NO NO! How dare you! Cancel him.
Basically drove a guy to suicide with a sketchy, one-sided, story? Well... you know... Gamergate... mumble mumble... believe women.
The Holowka suicide case was beyond fucked up.

First, the guy would be alive today if ZQ didn't decide to post that really weird story. Her own account, her allegations of their relationship, stuff that happened a decade ago. Of all the crap there, there were maybe two sentences that stood out as clear abuse claim and those were disproportionally creepy in comparison with the rest of the text.

And she was indeed prefaced this writing about rape I think. Referring to another person who she maybe forgave, her words. She was also exaggerating a lot about Holowka's influence in the industry and arguably about how helpless she was in all of this.

Later on others pointed out how a lot of this couldn't fit with ZQ's timeline and what she was posting or where she was appearing at the time or shortly after.

Most people reading that fucked up series of posts were confused. Many concluded real fast that Holowka was a rapist and his team mates on Night in the Woods cut their ties via Twitter within a few hours.

I really don't know how this shit is allowed to continue in your country with a precedent of leading a man to suicide. Or how these mob assholes can claim with a straight face that the alleged victim suffers more and one should always believe them.

Yes, it's hard to gather evidence and go through the system. It's supposed to be so to prevent regressing to McCarthyism.

It's not hard to post a fucked up series of posts, possibly made up possibly not, on fucking twitter of all places and launch an attack campaign on a target. That's a really shitty thing to do, and defend with a strict "believe all women" motto.

4chan used to get these requests from people to mob someone and the standard response was "not your private army" - it was expected that you'd at least bring some proof of a righteous cause. Not so with Twitter. When your morals are below that of 4chan you really need to take a good hard look at what you're doing.

More worrying to me is that sort of behaviour is normalised and rewarded. This is a matter between 2 (maybe 3?) individuals. Not your bloodthirsty twitter clique.

If this forces Avellone to leave the industry it would be a great loss. The industry is already bleeding talent as it is. I dread what this industry will ultimately become if it gets fully saturated with these politically correct folks.

I'm not sure why, but all this seems almost coordinated too. Its so weird to see these metoo accusations popping up nearly simoltaneously.

Nice, an industry blacklist based off anonymous accusations. Really gotta hope karma comes full circle on these witch hunting hypocrites someday.

You can absolutely guarantee that at some point in the future O'Dwyer is going to get burned down. He's just too into this to not have some skeletons hiding in his closet. I guess he hopes that as long as he's an avid ally none of that will come to light, but it will eventually and we can all laugh at him when he's up on the scaffold himself.

One of the replies actually unwittingly provides insight into what's gone on here.

For years she thought these things were ok and now she doesn't. The problem ultimately is that men were acting on the information available at the time, perhaps awkwardly because when you're shy (and game developers are likely to skew autistic) you don't always get it right, perhaps some were still figuring out who they were and what their dating strategy was and were on a wrong fork that they'd eventually walk back, any number of possibilities. Most women would just write it off as a bad date and chalk it up to experience, but these women are now being radicalised, made to hate men and think that any screw up by a man is malevolent.
To some extent I do wonder if women in the gaming industry do get sick of being hit on by socially awkward dudes.
Then again who's to say that women in the industry wouldn't be just as socially awkward as dudes in the industry?

From a lot of things we've seen you could come to the conclusion that a lot of these folks really struggle to understand dating and the best ways to safely and competently build new relationships.

Some of these folks seem like the types who just love to cause shitloads of drama and then act like they are so sorry afterwards without ever taking responsibility for their own actions. Blaming really shitty and toxic behavior on mental illness, depression, drink, drugs, being poor, being vulnerable etc etc.

Then you've got the "orbiters" who hang on every word and will believe anything and everything so long as they stay in the good graces of certain individuals.

I do think some of the women are being taken advantage of in a sense that they are constantly being pressured to re-contextualize their experiences so that they also have a story to tell. Like a kind of peer pressure. Everyone has a story but me... well... there was that one time when a guy hit on me and I said "no" but then he dated my friend and she hated him so he was actually abusive when you think about it... let me just log in to Twitter.

This is especially relevant in cases where two parties seem to have had a consensual relationship years ago and for an extended period of time but now every argument and every disagreement is broken down in a search for some kind of "me too" relevant nugget.

The concept of the "power dynamic" seems to be a real common one.
So instead of being a young professional woman who happened to have a relationship with a higher status man there are words like "grooming" being bandied around as if we're talking about something far more serious.

I am still going to play his games, if they're good. I still like to read Cthulhu stories, even thought H.P. Lovecraft was a racist.

If any of those accusations turn out to be true, then he'll get what he deserves in court and won't be making any games for a while. There are institutions set in place by society to handle shit like this, mob justice is not one of them, especially on the internet.
Lovecraft had a change of heart, though.

Like, the balance is already shifted out of whack.

I'd consider people are brave now if they dare to talk back to the lynch mob assholes and instigators like ZQ, question their motives, integrity and honesty, timing, skipping due process etc.

They have everything to lose doing that, but you just know there's a big crowd out there too scared to speak up or against this nonsensical wave of lunatics. They'll be putting their job on the line, and themselves in the crosshairs of deranged people.

Despite having a focus of these stories on the "Gaming industry" being piped it's no better or worse than other industries. I've worked for various gaming companies over the years and some normie companies in between (Due to the hire and fire nature of the big gaming companies). Honestly, it's about the same from what I've personally witnessed, it's just life.

Those gaming celebrities are just a guy that sits at a desk near you, it's not full of socially awkward people as its presented. But you do want to stay away from the big QA departments they usually are full of those unwashed types. But they are nobodies, and they dont have any opertunity to mix with people doing the regular office work. I'd say it's social media making stars out of some of these people and fawning after them.

Us btards had morals back when man
For the lulz
For great justice

The application of said morals is questionable; but it always resulted in the above

Too many people makes it harder for moral..."collaborations."

I absolutely don't doubt that awkward guys hitting on them may well get annoying eventually, and I also agree that some of the women will be awkward - though in my experience there are few women programmers (and those are the ones who'll be awkward) and far more graphic artists who tend to be of a particular type. I speak more of web dev agencies than game dev btw - enterprise software dev has so far proven to be a complete sausage-fest [only had 1 woman apply and she couldn't speak English or code for shit so I didn't hire her] and I'm perfectly happy with that (while enjoying the lovely ladies of our accounts office who are very decorative).

Also 100% agree on the pressure - as I said I think there's a form of grooming going on from the mad feminists to indoctrinate others into their cult, it's really quite unpleasant to watch.

As for power dynamic - Marxism is 100% about power - every relationship is about power. So if you become a Marxist (or a feminist since that is currently the same thing) you will absolutely view all your past relationships through the lens of power relations.

I now know why I always disliked noclip
This man said the N Word multiple times on this website with a hard R. If anything he needs blacklisting as well but. 🤷‍♂️

How is Zoey Quinn still fucking going. Remember when she tried to break into the comics industry and failed? lol

Twitter, the megaphone to the autistic voices
Twitter is also every normal person's best free source of entertainment.

No wonder cable tv is going down the tubes. Why pay for high cable tv packages when you get real idiots on Twitter bickering back and forth with the ultimate goal being getting as many followers as possible to read about their shitty broke lives.

lol

There should be a policy against public accusations via social media. Its such a negative erosion of societal norms. There is no real justice, it's mob justice and public lynching. It's counter to what a civilized society strives for.
While I agree with the feeling I can't think of how legislation would look to do this, I can't articulate either how Twitter ect would or could word a policy to stop baseless accusations. I am all for free speech and a platform hushing people speaking up whether it's legit or not is an alternate reality I
think would be worse. The change needs to be cultural, if #metoo wants to stay relevant they need to be just as strong on vetting cases/shaming liars as they are outing predators, and they would have my respect. The movement and branding has lost its power from too many bullshit stories and offshoots like believeallwomen. You can always sue for slander I guess but damages are impossible to recoup in most cases I would think.

So, worst case, he's kind of an asshole assuming this is true. But not a rapist or sexual abuser.

This is a story why?

Lovecraft had a change of heart, though.
This is an interesting point that I hadn't given much thought.

A lot of these twitter claims refer to stuff that happened many years ago, sometimes even a decade. People change in such timeframes, some get help, deal with their issues, some reach out and apologize.

This was apparently Holowka's case, but Avallone's tweets also say that he thought that this was resolved on good terms between him and the other party.

Then one morning, years later, this woman wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, so she stirs all this shit up on a social platform as unresolved, peppered with exaggerated drama and assumptions. Also yelling "I'm livid!".

And ends up destroying what life the other person has built within a few hours.

Is this not fucked up?

I am starting to see a pattern here.

These are accusations of men being douchebags. I mean, there's no rape, no assault, no nothing. He basically tells her his love life sucks and that he wants her. Which is something any guy would do if he likes to pity-talk himself into thinking chicks dig that.

And she gets replies like 'I can't imagine what you went through' and 'how horrible this must have been for you' and ... I'm like ... are you guys for real? Do you actually know what's it like to actually assaulted and raped? To be hit and treated like an object, to be laughed at when you cry in anguish and beg for mercy? Are you so utterly naive and self-absorbed that a guy awkwardly told that he'd like to fuck you and you think you were raped or sexually assaulted?

I mean, I, I could understand it if he flat out blackmailed her to suck his cock otherwise he would get her fired - that would be blackmail, harassment, the whole shebang ... but ... she even says he was fired afterwards, and that he 'abused others like her'. How was she abused?

Then she goes on a rant about not getting a promotion because she's a woman, despite the fact that she was universally loved, and admits the ones who got promoted deserved it. Did she deserve it more? Maybe. Does the company have a tendency to favor men? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. But that's completely irrelevant to sexual assault and rape!

If she really was as talented as she said she was she could have done better then a half dead company like Unity.

So the Kotaku article has come out and.... suddenly things happened. Except now, not just things happened but she's contradicting her earlier story multiple times. Apart from sounding much more fabricated than her earlier tweets,

Yeah, I don't believe one bit. She's evil, plain and simple.

Uhm, yeah. So, about the women MCA was sexting to, kept the text for 6 years and *never forgot about it*.

High Priestess of relationship morals there.
An out of context sext with her story about having a boyfriend attached, now looks like she was involved in typical cheating behavior on some manner of understood basis with Chris.

And even if she started this later on, it still makes no sense that she would be soooo shocked by a drunk text from Chris to have that experience influence her in any way 6 years later. She's clearly cool with open relationships. How did a text hurt her?

Another bitch trying to ruin a guy his life. When I see the language she use in her posts I've seen enough. Like those idiots on resetera. In a sentence of 10 words they use 5 times the word fuck or other insults.

What's wrong with those people?

Taken from an RPGCodex poster that shot back.
So it’s pretty apparent that these shitty writers who couldn’t get by on merit alone are shanking the guy, right? Now that he’s been made poison a whole bunch of consulting opportunities are going to come up that would’ve otherwise been offered to him.

What’s even more shitty is that he probably gave these people advice, guidance and connections when they were starting out.
