I have been covering a lot of games in the Sonic series and it has been fun. But while I have been bouncing a bit between Classic, Dreamcast, and Modern originally, I focused on doing things in order from Classic, Dreamcast and Modern going forward.
With my recent Tails' Adventures thread, we come to a close with the Classic Era......but lets end it with a bang, or rather, a jam .
That's right everyone, the last stop on the Classic Sonic Train is this lovely compliation that houses Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (with lock on features fully restored). This collection also has a 3D Hub world to run around in using a prototype engine to Sonic Adventure and a ton of videos/images to see.
But.....we are not just going to cover the game.
Here we are covering EVERYTHING Classic Sonic !

The Sonic Jam!
Lets start with the main course first, the game itself.
You have one of two options when you start the game; either jump into something called 'Sonic World' or play one of the four main classic games. The important thing to note about Sonic Jam is that the classic sonic games.....are not emulated.
They are ports using Saturn hardware. So, what does that mean? It means the games are native Saturn games so they look a bit better, they run flawlessly, and have some extra features like Easy modes for each game and Sonic having the SpinDash in Sonic 1.
However, there is some slowdown in a few of the games (Sonic 2 for example) due to the porting (and like it running from CD instead of a cart) but still, it is an impressive collection and rebuilding of four great games.
Some of the best versions of the iconic games that we all love, so that makes this a great deal already.
But there is MORE!

Sonic Worlds!
Oh my, Sonic is in 3D?! Why yes, but this isn't new. Sonic the Fighters, 3D Blast and Sonic R all showed that the Hedgehog can hop into the third dimension with little issue. But this is the first time we saw Sonic move like, well, we would expect him to in 3D in a platforming setting.
He can grab Tails flying in the air, he can hop on springs to launch high in the sky, can collect gold rings and just run around with this great track playing in the background.
And it LOOKS like Sonic. The Sonic World location looks like a 3D version of Green Hill and its amazing to see a taste of what the Saturn could do with a proper 3D Sonic game. Interesting fact is that Sonic World is the Saturn prototype to Sonic Adventure, a game I will cover very, very soon .

Commercials and Video Fun!
Sonic Jam houses lots of little goodies for you to see like commercials, images of games, some music and more. There is too much to list here, so going to link to a playlist housing most of the videos Sonic Jam houses .
