"Classics HD", new brand for PS3 games?

I thought it was a given that any reissue of an older game is going to look uglier. It is a rule, or something.

I dunno, God of War I and II looked pretty darn good at 60 FPS and 720p.

except for those cutscenes, barf!!

That's why ICO&SotC will hold up a megaton better, all in-game, I bet a lot of developers regret that awful FMV shit in retrospect.

In GAF I trust - if these covers really will be that filled with shit, someone will do a better version for sure for printing & replacing purposes.

Logos could be less , but whatever. This just means this is gonna happen for more titles. :D But..

Kamiya Collection: DMC, Viewtiful Joe (never finished that), and ?kami.
Team ICO Collection
ZoE Collection
MGS Collection
Silent Hill Collection

So much money to be made.
This is a ll I really want/need from this new 'Classics HD' line. :P

Here's that PS2 BC we wanted.

You gotta rebuy the games though :lol (At least you get HD and trophies).

Following the movie industry where people rebuy their movies on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray ....

(I guess Sony's divisions really do talk)

Perhaps, but even if they still included backwards compatibility I feel as though these games still have added value over their PS2 counterparts.
yup, the best part about PS2 HD Collections is playing classic PS2 games with trophies.

It is....
Ah thanks.

Anyway, this will never happen; but I'd love

Dragon Quest V + VIII HD
Suikoden III + V HD
Shin Meami Tensei Nocture + DD Saga HD
Shadow Hearts triology HD
Dark Cloud 1 & 2 HD
Harvest Moon HD
Tales of Legendia & Tales of Abyss HD
Radiata Stories + Star Ocean III HD
Grandia II & III HD
Ys HD collection

You would think SE would be all over this for their ps2 games, but somehow I can't see them bothering.

I guess this also just about kills any chance of ps2 bc ever returning in some form.

Ratchet and Jak collections would be insane:

Ratchet & Clank
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Secret Agent Clank

Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Jak II
Jak 3
Jak X: Combat Racing
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier

I'd buy them, but I'd imagine they'd split those up, lol.

Wouldn't mind:
Syphon Filter Collection
Dark Cloud Collection
Ape Escape Collection
Parappa Collection

I wonder how the games would play with all those stickers on the package?

So your argument amounts to "I care about the game, so I don't care about the packaging?"

Congratulations, I guess? I wish I was able to tune out such loud and distracting messaging and branding. Maybe you could use those same skills to tune out posts regarding a debate you are so clearly apathetic to.

Some of us regretted it at the time. Repeatedly. For the last couple of decades.

I would almost consider ebaying my 20 GBer if this becomes a trend...I honestly don't have too many obscure titles so if Square gets on board I can finally get a console with built in wifi instead of a wireless gaming adapter lol.

I'm just worried they'll continue their trend of charging premium for their re-releases.

Hopefully these re-releases are Greatest Hits right out of the box ($30), but I doubt it. They'll probably charge $20 per game, and then watch them flop. (GOW was $40, Sly is $60).

I can imagine. It's some cringe worthy shit. I remember seeing the old MGS trailer with the prerendered cutscenes and thinking it looked awesome when I was younger, in retrospect it's laughable, and the in-game stuff holds up so much better.

The reason we almost certainly won't see FFX/X-2 in these HD Collection is because the CG is not good enough, and stretching to HD is going to look shit, so they either redo it, which costs money, or they don't put it out, which I think they'll favor.

As good as the FMV looks in GoW2, the in-game stuff looks considerably better in the Collection (even more so in the first game). It is a real shame, as it was in NGS which also does the same thing.

Hopefully this generation will solidify it in developers that in the future, resolution and image quality will be able to improve their games and consistency is far more important than anything else. Because ten years from now, when we're enjoying autostereoscopic 3D in Quad HD, the FMV in FFXIII is going to look like ass, despite it being the best in the industry.

3rd parties, PLZ Add

- SSX Collection (Tricky + 3)
- Parasite Eve Collection (1&2...since I didn't own a PS1)

To your marketing plans. I am interested in pre-ordering these items.

(Nintendo Spoiled me with 2-3 separate copies of the Zelda collection on GameCube.)

The Hell !!

How could they price it like that without even a new game to at least hype up the fans to pick it up, also GOW is a much bigger series and I don't think it would've gotten away with a $60 tag.

it was posted in PAL boxart thread, looks like remakes of PS2 games have their own brand now, could be a sign of more collections perhaps.

Milk-age begins. We can all play HD versions of PS2 games instead of new games, fantastic.

I personally have a pretty strict no double-dipping policy, not a fan of buying games I already own. I would have to make an exception on the Team Ico games though, they're just too special to ignore.

I also have never played the Silent Hill games, so an HD trilogy of those would be perfect.

I am not buying games I already own again just because Sony fucked up backwards compatibility.
In this case you are paying for the version of games that look significantly better, not for the backwards compatibility.
