just announced

also

- New multiplayer mode called blitz, objective based. Need to attack and defend two key points.

Edit: would be great if mods can edit the title. i guess it should say " will have cloud" or something like that. sorry

Live servers tend to struggle to just run match making when a new CoD launches, so this could be interesting (in a few years when enough people actually have the console).

Still, good news.

Bad grammar aside thank god, I was sick of playing with a bunch of people from New Zealand and having amazing ping, then one american joining, the host changes to them and everyone is lagging like crazy.

Has the wording confirmed it's exclusive to Xbox One? Doesn't seem to be and just a "non-mention," right?

I could be wrong though.

You know, I'm utterly shocked that no one has yet to make a Xbone boxart using this:

Then what are they? (Serious question)

Anyway, this is HUGE news, community has been asking for YEARS.

As in, I dont have server browsers to pick exactly which servers I want to join (USA only, less than 50 ping, nuketown only). It's matchmaking on 'dedicated servers + lag comp' without a region filter. What the hell is the point of having dedicated servers if I'm liable to join a server in brazil? (and yes it happens) Servers cant even have ping limitations on them so even if I do find a server that I have 30ping in....the next dude might have 150ping and can be in Canada.

PC community is STILL asking

to be honest. i am now thinking to switch from PS4 to Xbox one because of this.

COD is like one of the only few multi player games i play online. and the host thing is shit. i am seriously thinking of xbox one because of this.

glad i didn't cancel my xbox one pre-order with all the xbox one crap that happened @ E3.

Depends where you live.

Not all countries like Australia have their own cloud servers. So I'm not sure how this will work.

They could obviously hire some infrastructure to fill the gaps...but so could Sony.

ok that's horrible, but that's how it will work on xbox presumably. I don't see an server browser happening trued be told

You should definitely switch.

I wonder if dedicated servers are also coming to PC and PS4, but due to Microsoft money they wont share that info until later?

dedicated servers were bad for pc because of this...

yeah i know what you mean. i currently live in KSA. but we usually connect to the euro server. anyway if its anything like BF3 then i am a happy gamer.
I'd wait for detail on mp support on this other console if I were You

for sure. i am not rushing anything i might regret later. but i know for fact i am only buying one console this year. the second will wait a little longer till next year or so. :)

By announcing like this guess it confirm that not all games will have access to free dedicated servers. That is the bigger story. A lot people think every game on xbone would have them based on Ms wording before.

Megaton...

Did they say how long they dedicated servers will stay up for (when will they switch them off), and if other COD games will get them too?

There is still no date and estimates have put them at mid to end of 2014.

Incidentally, that article doesn't mention it, but another lists the servers as being in Sydney and Melbourne. Whilst that is better than Singapore, it still highlights that community servers will still better serve locations like NZ or WA.
There is a delicate balancing act to play out here if 4 people in Perth can only play together via Sydney.

But the PC dedicated servers SUCK ASS & the lag compensation makes it even worse. They arent even real dedicated servers.

I personally don't see the point of dedicated servers without a server browser anyway. Hopefully this is the question that gets answered next.

Looks like MS offering Dedicated servers to all their publishers is already paying off.

Now like fifa bundle COD on US pre Orders and you will have a great launch.

Pretty much my biggest problem with this .. well not this, but the idea of only using the 'cloud' for dedicated servers. Titanfall has me worried as there is not been one peepe since E3 when asked about dedicated servers for PC.

Microsoft Azure only has a CDN in my region with zero plans to do a Data centre in the immediate future, so pretty much any cloud feature will be hit with added latency for me.

but will it cloud?
Salsa banned, WUT?

...

in other news, this is huge. I know, 99% of CoD players don't know the difference between P2P/dedi, but I really hope this will improve the overall multiplayer experience in terms of lag, matchmaking and other issues that plagued CoD (at least here in Europe).

Hopefully dedicated servers is now a standard through all the platforms, it definitely is the best side of Xbone (if you can rent perma servers)

I dont quite understand, does this mean that Call of Duty on Xbox One will only use dedicated servers? No more P2P or host migration? Or is this some option to host dedicated servers for private matches?

Dedicated servers are a good thing though. But cloud this, cloud that, cloud eggs and bacon and suspenders. It's very irritatingly vague, and I suspect that's the cover up the fact that many of their cloud capabilities aren't nearly as useful as they've cooked them up to be.

Not this, of course.

There is no P2P at all on X1. Dedicated servers for every game, every match.

This also means that we are one step closer to dedicated servers on PS4 too. They are probably using the same server software that they use on PC.

? I'm confused on what you're saying. PC had "dedicated servers" but not dedicated servers?

This is different. This means ghosts on xbone will be using the azure server network as their dedicated servers. This is much much better.

I'm now getting ghosts. Dedicated servers confirmation was all I needed
