Colin Trevorrow Exits Episode 9

I think any other director that was in the BB rotation would have done an equal good job. Gilligan was pulling the strings on every episode, no matter who was directing it.

I mean, sure, the others would have done well. There were some fantastic directors on that show.

I'm not sure how that diminishes the job Rian did, and I don't agree that it would have been equal. And no, Gilligan was not puppeteering it all. Being the showrunner doesn't mean everyone is just a meaningless puppet enacting your every will. It's an extremely collaborative medium.

There's also a reason Rian was specifically chosen to direct Ozymandias, the episode.

That only says that Breaking Bad had a really good rotation of directors. You think people won't be excited if Michelle MacLaren is directing a big blockbuster in a franchise they love?

Here's a different question: Do you think any other director period, would have done an equally good job? Because that would be horseshit. Gilligan wasn't "pulling the strings", his job as showrunner is to find and collaborate with talent he recognizes, people who he can trust to help put his vision together with him without fucking up.

Honestly, if the Russos weren't so busy, I could see Kennedy picking them. They seem so efficient at what they do and easy to work with. There just aren't that many people that can balance blockbusters that well.

No of course not any director period would have done an equally good job. But directors in TV shows can be compared to second unit teams on movies, they do the stuff they have to do as good as possible but abide to the vision of the main director. Although I have to say that Brick and Looper are tonally a bit similar to BB that's why I'm so surprised that he was picked for Star Wars.

I'm a little worried they're gunna announce JJ. Look I obviously love TFA, but these next two films are doing far different things than EP7.

Rian is the right man

Y'all wanna hate but Zack would turn out the best looking Star Wars movie bar none.

It would also probably be unwieldy and a little mean spirited tho lmao.

What's Brett Ratner up to these days? Is he too busy with that Hercules sequel? Or is he only a hotshot producer nowadays?

Zack Snyder for the director's chair would be an amazing choice and would probably make fans of both the Star Wars and DC franchises blow their minds with how incredible you could imagine his space and lightsaber action sequences would be.

I want to throw up

The fuck is going on in this thread? Snyder made the worst movie of the last decade in Batman vs superman. How could some people legitimately want him near Star Wars?

Star Wars doesn't need edgelord desaturated pointless slow-mo bullshit. And it's pretty obvious Snyder would never be able to grasp the whole "Light Side/Dark Side" dichotomy. In Snyder's version of the prequels Anakin killing children would just be basic Jedi training.

Didn't Snyder pitch a Star Wars film years ago but Lucasfilm turned him down?

And that was before he released Batman v. Superman!

If you think Snyder would be able to do that then you haven't read the OP of this very thread lol.

Snyder would unironically try and introduce the Gray Jedi into the films.

I see nothing about Star Wars as a franchise that Snyder isn't used to

Big budget tentpole film
Lots of action
Stupid fanbase

You either get Snyder or you get me, those are your only options and I can confirm with 100% certainty that my Episode IX would revolve around midichlorians

Star Wars is dead

Long live Star Wars

Man if that's the full code they really need to cut some lines out. It gets overbearing.

You can shorten it down to "I'm a good guy but I get to throw lightning and have sex."
