If Indy 4 and Tintin are any indication, I don't think I really want to see a Spielberg Star Wars. Not that he would want to do anyway at this stage in his career, especially with Lucas off the franchise.
Space opera is serious business. What is it about Star Wars threads that brings out the worst in people?

The Wachowski's best movie is Cloud Atlas
Fast and Furious has yet to have a good movie. Ripping off Point Break doesn't count.

Kylo Ren in TFA was a more interesting character than Vader in ANH

To be fair to Spielberg, Indy 4 was George Lucas's fault more than Spielberg's. The main reason it took forever to even make Indy 4 is because Lucas was desperately clinging to his "aliens in an Indy movie" idea and eventually Spielberg and Ford caved.
Kylo Ren is basically the only good thing about TFA. Way more interesting than another boring villain like Darth Vader.
I'd say the opposite actually and that Spielberg's impulses are what dragged this movie down, not Lucas's. The Aliens/Cold War/ Body Snatchers 50's paranoia stuff with Indy in America is the best part of the movie. It's when Indy goes to South America and it feels like a limp dick version of Raiders and Crusade that it really suffers.
Tintin has better action and adventure than any Star Wars film since Empire tho. I agree Spielberg won't want to do Star Wars though.
Furious 7 is actually art. I could break that down scene for scene.
If he weren't doing Aquaman, James Wan would be my pick. He is one of the most versatile directors in Hollywood.
Jesus...
Kylo is probably my favorite blockbuster villain since Heath's Joker...

You need to quit huffing that stuff they use to super boost.

Kylo Ren is interesting because he's a school shooter neo-nazi punk. It's like the perfect evolution of the Star Wars villain for modern times.
YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED
Didn't you hear, Rian Johnson is a legendary filmmaker.
Bronson is like that kid in every film school who likes bad movies because he thinks it makes him more unique.
i luv you bronson bb
Bronsonlee is
Unobtanium?
If they didn't do that it would've been straight up impossible to follow the different people in the various stories
Fucked either way
Okay, how do you guys want 9 to end? I think I've got the characters in a pretty good place:
Rey: Pregnant
Poe: Slips into heroin addiction
Finn: Topples current republic and becomes dictator of the galaxy using the Resistance
Kylo-Ren: Served to Porgs alive after Rey cuts all four limbs
Phasma: Leads republic army against Finn
Luke: Geriatrics home as he falls into alzheimer's
Rose: Wookie romance with Chewie
Snoke: Publicly hanged with no fair trial
BB-8: Becomes mobile trash can at military parades
R2-D2: Finally deactivated
C-3PO: Deactivates R2
Hux: Dies in car crash on the way to support the senate against Finn
That should about cover it.

I wonder if anyone is going to be in a rush to give the Wachowskis a big budget in the next few years.

While he might be upset with the lack of respect for the lore, I think Lucas would be happy with Lynch directing it at this point, because it would mean it was in the hands of an artist doing things his way. He has seemed a bit sad about giving his personal creation to Disney, as though it was necessary to keep this thing alive while being free of it, but it's not the way things should be.David Lynch. Full creative control. I'm ready.
Actually though it would be nice to see Spielberg deliver a SW film.

Oh it's been considered. The reactions were hilarious. One person who I saw mentioned on Twitter that I didn't even consider at first but thought would be a great choice is Gore Verbinski for Episode IX. He has a lot of the right requirements and probably some of the better circumstances to be asked by Lucasfilm:
1. He's directed a solid trilogy with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for the Disney family.
2. He's had experience dealing with younger performers and bringing out decent to really good performances.
3. His last film was a box office bomb so he'd be willing to come back to the big leagues to establish his comeback.
4. Rango is the only modern 3D animated film I would consider to be as good as Tintin when it comes to action and spectacle.
Empire released an article today which includes Rian Johnson talking about directing TLJ.

Sounds like the dude had the time of his life.
Empire said:Also in the issue, Johnson describes the complete freedom he had to take The Last Jedi in whatever direction he chose, without having to follow a roadmap laid out by either J.J. Abrams or Lucasfilm.
"The perception of these films is that they're all planned out on a secret sheet of paper in advance, but that's just not the case," he says. "I wasn't given an outline of where it goes or even a list of things to hit. It really was just, ‘Okay, what's next?'"
"I was terrified coming into this that I was gonna be like Barton Fink and have a script that was due six months ago and I'm still on page three writing about fishmongers. But it's the most fun I've ever had writing something. The whole experience was incredible: just tapping into my ten-year-old self. Even though it's Star Wars, the whole thing has felt bizarrely similar to my experience making Looper or Brick or The Brothers Bloom."
