Regardless, yes, the facilities are old and do need a revamp. Most of our endowment is spent on research though, which the school highly prides itself for it.
Apparently the school is stupidly miserly in that regard as well unless you're doing nanotech work. :lol
Although Carmody is not the same caliber as Fitzgerald is in skill for their respective sports, he's had a lot to work with Northwestern basketball. At least now, recruiting is much better than it has been in decades, if not forever. Now Northwestern is not taking foreign players (i.e. Croatian) and is raking in more of Chicago recruits, which makes more sense. How did even Northwestern had problems recruiting in their own backyard is a head scratcher.

Otherwise, the Princeton Offense, while somewhat genius, only goes so far, and Carmody can't teach his guys to defend at all or get boards. Ugh. That's what bugs me most of the team.
I think it took me 3 years until I saw a set play in the halfcourt out of a timeout. A true revelation. It was as if 100 years of basketball history flashed before my eyes.
2009? I graduated a tad bit later in the summer as I needed a project to finish, but that's awesome.

I thought I was the only Northwestern guy on GAF. :lol
2010 actually.

On a side note, I wish they'd burn down Norris. Maybe they'll work a stadium there in 2020 or whenever that new student center is supposed to be built.

Nice coaching Mr. Stoops.

Against this guy, we don't need to worry about them rallying. They play like their coach, temperamental and emotional.

Chizik: "Look, your one goal [Cam Newton] is to be quarterback of the Auburn Tigers. Just focus on that one thing."

Mmm...student athlete should be athlete student.

Ugh. I should be glad to be up by so much, but it should be 2 TDs worse.

Also, we need to hire Arizona's commercial producers.

Funny since I was thinking about how lame Arizona's commercial was, although following the turd that OK St. put out it looked pretty good.

All I can think when I watch our spots is "can we at least get some HD?"

Terrible.

We have a beautiful campus, shouldn't be that hard to shoot a nice TV commercial.

Yay at the oddly timed Northwestern love.

(and yay at the minor backlash.)

Really though, it's never been more fun to be a Northwestern fan.

Reminds me, didn't USC do something like that a few years a go? They were lined up to take a knee, the other team calls a timeout, so they bomb a TD in for good measure. Was hilarious.

Rivalry game, fucla had it coming at that point. Rick Neuheisel was trying to save clock despite the fact they weren't gonna get it back. Pete was trying to run it out, got annoyed and said "fuck it if Rick wants to act like this game is still undecided I'll show him what's what".

Ah, it was but a joke. I actually think it's really cool when a great school fields a decent football team, it's harder than it looks.

Holy shit, terrible cheap shot on Blackmon. Guarantee Mike Stoops called for that.

Yeah, that's the one I remember. The timeout was a dick move, Pete was trying to end the game running out the clock like a gentleman. The TD was a nice STFU. I laughed so hard.

Edit: bwahaha. ANOTHER.

Wow. OkieSt defense has Foles in their sights tonight.
Our defense has been underrated. Our two losses were games in which our offense didn't hold up their end of the bargain and kept them on the field for far too many plays.

As good as our offense has been this season, if we're not scoring points our defense has a hard time holding up for the whole game. It might actually be best if Holgorsen moves on and we get someone as OC who will moderate the pace of play and give our defense some room to breathe.

WOAH WTF at the officials. Not like OSU needs it but still, do your fucking jobs right. Wow. Totally blown call.

Edit: I wish Jesse Palmer would eat a bag of dicks.

I am totally sick of this B.o.b. song.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN YOU HAVE JUST WITNESSED SPORTS HISTORY BEING MADE

...aaaand we welcome you back to the second half of the Magicjack.com Bowl"

Oh San Antonio. It's like the Six Flags Latin section.. but an entire city

I'm going there for New Years.. fuck I hate that place :(

11 wins for the first time ever, feels good man.

Glad to see us win our bowl game with authority, too. Here's to bigger things next season.

I'd usually root for the Pac-10, but seeing Stoops go down in flames is extremely satisfying.
I was highly disappointed at the lack of meltdowns. Really hoped he'd flip out after the Okie St receiver DeSean'd everybody.

Texas Bowl was a lot of fun. It was super shitty weather driving in from the north of town, but obviously reliant stadium was quite dry. There were unsurprisingly a significant number of Baylor fans who all put up five fingers to make a "bear paw" to cheer with. (Texas school and their handsigns...lol). It was cool having the bands there...one of the best things about college football games and bowl games when you're there live.

The game was pretty entertaining if one-sided (Illinois did take a nap for most of the second half). Baylor was getting absolutely worked up front and the Illini defense had no trouble at all keeping up with Griffin (III) when he scrambled or rolled out of the pocket. Baylor just made too many mistakes to win the game. (I read the Houston Chronicle this morning and a bunch of the Baylor players said they lost the long balls in the lights of the dome...pfft).

Editorial note: I go to Illinois as a grad student, but this was my first (and probably last) game that I've seen them in.

Hope you guys have a fun & safe New Years, CFB-GAF! My New Years weekend starts now

Hopefully my Noles will send off 2010 with a bang :D Oh and I should be at the Bama-MSU game here in Orlando. I'm not sure if I should pimp an FSU shirt or not (don't want to be mistaken for a dirty Bama fan, afterall), but I'll try to get some good pictures to post here.

You'll be ok as long as its not a crimson polo pair w/ khakis and aren't carrying a pom pom around.
