The right coach (Gary Patterson?) could find himself in a very good position if both UF and UM are interested in hiring him. Those programs both want an incredible coach and you can bet they will fight each other tooth and nail if they both happen to want the same guy.
Man, it'd be hilarious if he got hired away now. The Big East would feel like a bunch of chumps.

Remember when Barry Switzer took over the Cowboys and won a Super Bowl? That was great, but continued success eluded him. If Meyer wants to prove himself, he needs to be consistent for more than one recruiting class window.

I'm speaking more on his legacy than going forward.
He doesn't need to prove himself to Jeff-DSA. Your measure of his legacy is arbitrary. The rings on his hand speak for themselves.

He could never come back to coach, and it really wouldn't matter.

eh, if CUM had retired after winning another MNC, then it might be difficult for UF to land a high profile coach. But not so much after a 7-5 season. The new guy will have some leniency.

Miami has won a national championship more recently then Florida State!

And by the end of this month, Miami will have also gone bowling more recently than Texas.

Urban Meyer was a head coach for 10 years. He won 2 National Championship games. He won 4 BCS games. Thats pretty fucking remarkable.

David Lamb, Jacksonville radio guy:
"I think he's a spoiled brat. Hell of a coach, but spolied. He can't handle the losing."

Just look at that motherfucker. Look at him. He's like "See, Dabo, that's how you crush an arch-rival."

On the downside, we won't have to see FSU fans using that awesome abbreviation anymore.

Fixed.
You know it in your gut that it's true.

It's just the whole 3 programs in 10 years thing that kind of bugs me. I don't think he's a crappy coach or anything, but he never stayed with a program long enough to deal with multiple recruiting classes and maintaining success over time. That's all I'm saying. There's a lot we don't know about his ability to do that sort of thing.

Yes, let's just ignore the 5 national championships they've won in the last 25 or so years. :lol :lol

College football is all about what have you done for me lately.

I have to say it would be Lane Kiffin levels of douchey for Mullen or Strong to take the Florida head coaching job. Ask yourselves that Florida fans, do you want a coach who is Lane Kiffin douchey?

I remember hearing that Florida was ready to go HARD after Chip Kelly after Urban's first fake retirement and really covet him. You have to think they'll go after him now. Nike better get their checkbook out to keep him. Him leaving the Pac12 would certainly help the Trojans rebuilding process so I'm all for it.

So this automatically means that the U is no longer a major college football program? Please. I understand the mentality of "what have you done for me lately", but sometimes people gotta learn when to take the blinders off.

Studying and desperately applying for jobs. Life sucks. :(
Good luck with that, my wife is currently looking for a job too (seeing as how her boss didn't get re-elected).

If you're half the lawyer that you are GAFfer, you're gonna find something awesome. :D

Where abouts? I have an old high school friend who just passed the bar earlier this year in FL. I think she got a job down in Fort Lauderdale.

My bro works in gainesville and just called to tell me that people are fucking pissed at his office. He said one of his employess didn't even want to look him in the face when talking.

"What? Naw. Shucks, we lost all our games because of kicking! I think we're going to stick to having no offensive identity and see how that works out."

So, Florida International University (6-6 Sunbelt lols) and the University of Central Florida are the only conference champions in the State of Florida in the FBS.

Thoughts?

It is partly true, though. With zero fanbase, and no high success for the better part of this decade, it is hard to call them elite anymore...

Are there any real slam dunk hires out there? Urban himself was one, are there any other really hot prospects this year?
If they can't lure away a true marquee name like Stoops, Mullen is probably their best bet.

I would say Peterson, but we saw how Dan Hawkins' career went once he left the friendly confines of the blue turf.

Urban Meyer gave me some of the best years of my young life. I am grateful for everything he did for UF and of course for his success during his tenure. Meyer proved that you can have success at Florida without Spurrier at the helm.

I always hear Kevin Sumlin out of Houston as someone that is courted by BCS-AQ schools. I don't know if he is Florida caliber, though.

Yeah I don't get the anger of some of the Florida fans at this. The dude got us 2 titles and a huge national presence. He was outstanding, and had a fun, exciting method of approaching a gameplan.

To be fair, they are basically swimming in talent in Miami.

The other schools are starting to take that from them, even! UCF and USF doing work in the Miami area over the past couple of years.

Yeah, but a coach with just a little amount of talent should be able to form a top 25 team with south Florida talent.
