Yes, Yes, Yes!

It needs to be someone enthusiastic that doesn't mind mocking himself.

Urban (and Bob-o) are way too serious.

Bobby Bowden would be a good replacement, if the legend wasn't already 80yrs old.

Honestly, ESPN should just fire Holtz and Corso, moreso Holtz though.

Corso's great, although it's a bit sad seeing him on TV post-stroke. Holtz is just awful, though.

Not only are you full of shit, Lou, but you're also a dick.

Cowherd is teasing the Florida job, saying it's going to be a big name that folks don't expect.

John Fox! :lol

Florida would have to really want Kelly to get him.
the contract to which Kelly agreed earlier this season throws up a couple stumbling blocks.

First, it carries a $4 million buyout, which is a lot of scratch for anybody, no matter how well heeled.

And, a clause in the contract stipulates that Kelly must give Oregon 15 days written notice before leaving, and further stipulates he cannot leave during the regular season or before a postseason bowl game in which Oregon is a participant.

Pelini to Miami? Nah.

Athletic director Tom Osborne told the Lincoln Journal Star that he has not given Pelini permission to speak to Miami about the job, and Pelini says he didn't seek permission to interview for another job. Pelini wouldn't otherwise comment publicly on the report.

I don't think anything will come of this. Pelini has a good thing going in Lincoln anyways.

I'm hearing Saban to Florida a lot around here, guys...

Isn't Nebraska to Miami at best a lateral move? Miami is almost hovering on Notre Dame levels of irrelavence now that everyone and their mom poaches South Florida for talent and they don't have exclusivity on that region. I mean, I guess you could argue that the Big 10 could be on an upswing if Ohio St, Wisconsin and Michigan St. keep at their pace, and Michigan ever gets their shit together, so it might be easier to win in the ACC but I don't why Pelini would want to go.

Apparently OSU's OC Dana Holgorsen is at the top of Pitt's wishlist.

Not a bad job, but I wonder about his ability to recruit guys to fit his system in the northeast. Not to mention that Pitt has never had a high-flying offense, it would be a complete change in philosophy. Wouldn't blame him for leaving though--

Really hope he stays though, would love to see what Weeden can do with a full season + experience underneath him.

You decide: Miami or Nebraska

I don't think Florida wants anything to do with Leach but Miami absolutely should. He would have been perfect for Colorado too, and hell UCLA should get him and fire Slick Rick. I can't believe how little attention he seems to be getting from big time programs that need a boost.

I believe he lives in the keys already, it makes too much sense, Miami!

Yeah, a Leach offense with South Florida athletes would be ludicrously good. The whole thing is predicated upon speed and quickness, they'd out-athlete virtually everyone on their schedule.

We're talking about a dude who recruited great athletes to Lubbock, Texas. The recruits would love to play in that kind of system.

I bet Leach was bummed when Skip Holtz got the USF job, though. He was probably DYING to coach in a stadium with a goddamn pirate ship attached. :D

Them corn fed Nebraska girls can be awfully good looking too! (My ex was from Nebraska).

Pelini's personality is a better fit for the Nebraska fan base. Although Miami has better recruiting access.

Probably because he's still in the middle of a lawsuit over abusing a player.

Nebraka's AD revenue is going to be about double Miami's once they are in the big 10. Don't really see how Miami could offer anywhere close to the same amount of money or facilities. Seems to be all talk and not really any substance.

Leach enjoys antagonizing athletic directors, sucks at fund raising, and hates dealing with alumni. Not even Minnesota wanted him. No one ever tried poaching him from TTU. As a CFB fan I find him interesting, but he doesn't seem like someone who is going to get a big time gig anytime soon.

Meyer is like the polar opposite of Corso. That's a bad idea.

Have you ever seen Spurrier talk on TV the past few years? Now that he's all humble and whatnot he's awkward as hell now that he's not making "you can't spell Citrus without UT" jokes

I think what finally broke him was when they made him stop voting for Duke.

Apparently Petersen is being interviewed by UF. He is Meyer's preferred guy to replace him, but obviously Foley is the one in charge of the search.

I wonder if he would come if we offered. I hear he likes it in Boise for personal reasons.

It seems like people are leery of him because of IM Hawkins, but I think he'd be a great hire. If he's willing to leave.

Not really. Tech never had great speed any of the years Leach was here, and none of the guys that came out of the offense that people know (ex Crabtree, Welker, Amendola, etc.) were known for speed. Quickness issue bigger part of it, but it's mostly just about execution; there is little to no room for improvisation. The actual number of plays in his offense was remarkably low, like single digits, but there were a lot of formations each play was run out of to disguise it; after that it was just reading the D and doing exactly what you were told to do.

And when did he ever recruit great athletes to Lubbock? Even Crabtree only fell to Tech because he had clearinghouse and eligibility issues, and off the top of my head I can't think of anybody else that you'd call a great athlete. In fact he was basically personified by doing more less. Even we Tech fans mocked his recruiting while he was here. He could put together a hell of an OL, though.

I wonder how leach would do a smaller school. Like Fresno St or Hawaii?

He would tear the shit out of a non AQ conference, they don't have the talent on defense to stop his attack. You need to get pressure with the front 4 and only the front 4 on most plays, and set up blitzes once you establish dominance on the line.

And you have to blitz right. The plays are designed to exploit holes left by blitzing LBs and corners.

I think he's gonna have to Mike Price it and take a job at a C-USA school or a Sun Belt school first.

Or Wazzu?

Too bad they're hanging onto whats-his-name for no apparent reason.

I think Wazzu is eclectic enough that it might work, but I don't think they have the money.

Despite his offensive production, he was never a great recruiter or fundraiser, he's incredibly stubborn, and he's got one of the most odd personalities you've ever seen and that really doesn't make him a good fit for a lot of places (I could never see him anywhere in the SEC, for instance). There's a reason he got run out of town in Lubbock when he's the winningest coach in school history and a reason why he never got any job offer to go elsewhere even though he was sending his agent around every off-season practically begging for interviews. He really needs to find just the right fit.

I think Miami might actually be pretty good, honestl, and Colorado would probably have been even better, but I think Florida would be terrible.

:lol

Watching this Cam Newton on ESPN. I guess he watched "The Decision" as well.

He actually said that he "took his Talents to Auburn".................barf

Lee Corso and the Gameday guys were really tearing up just now as Corso won some award. Looks like he really may be on the way out.

I heard he's had health problems, and you always look like an ass when you criticize someone with them, but I never really enjoyed his insight

This awards show is awkward to watch.

He had a big stroke two seasons ago, almost took his life. It was shocking that he was able to make it back in time for the season to start.

Exactly. Pelini going to Miami is just wishful thinking in Miami's part. They have zero fanbase and nothing to offer outside of recruiting and everyone in the mother competes for that same recruiting base. Nebraska's Football money dwarf's Miami's.

So you guys watch the Urban Meyer conversation on ESPN?

Edit: And ESPN Ticker says Mullen is out of the running for Miami, but Miami is gonna talk to Edsall (UConn), Tuberville (TTech) and Pelini.

Randy Edsall come on down!

Just looking who won the awards and came across something interesting Armanti Edwards winning 3 straight Walter Payton awards, pretty crazy.

as long as not's not Strong I don't care who Florida hires...feel pretty good they won't offer him though

actually between the miami and florida vacancy things look good for Louisville recruiting

Despite some reports to the contrary am told by sources close to Tommy Tuberville that he still is going hard after the Miami vacancy.
Way to go, Tech, firing Leach was a great idea.

At least you'll still have Adam James, though!
