Confirmed: Haze Never Coming Out on Xbox 360

Haunted One said:
4 pages of people saying it's looking to be another mediocre FPS, 4 pages of people saying it won't. That's all there is to it.

Oh, and 1 page of system warrior retards trying to seriously use this as leverage to attack another platform.
5 pages in total if you're cool enough to have 100 posts per page.

it tells me you're a diehard playstation fanboy PS3-only. So please don't talk about anything beside the movies on your console. Thank you.

Haze used to be hyped before we knew about Resistance 2, now haze has been blown out the water.
This is what's so confusing. Why would anyone think that an xbot would care about Haze when a much bigger console-warrior target is looming 6-7 months away? I understand why sony fans feel the need to clutch at every exclusive potato they can get, but Haze is a crummy looking yam next to the giant Russet w/ sour cream and chives that is Resistance 2.

What... so i can't talk about games on my format of choice?

better than talking shit about games all formats... Gears is an amazing game...

And while my preference is for the PS3 i'm certainly not diehard about it.... YOU WOULD NEVER FIND ME IN AN XBOX 360 GAME THREAD TALKING SHIT ABOUT IT - shame we can't say the same about you... eh? and i wouldn't go around telling anyone what they can say about games unless they were A trolling or B talking shit.

Sadly, my dear, you fall under category B...

so please feel free to fall under a bus.

well to be fair based on Dev pedigree Haze has a better chance of being good than Killzone 2. (from a gameplay perpective)
+1

I wasn't interested in this game, at the beginning. Then, I found out it was from the developers of Timesplitters. Then, I saw Free Radical's promotional videos, which are almost good enough to sell me on the game, by themselves... almost. Now, instead of writing-off Haze, and skipping over the reviews, I'll wait for people's post-release impressions, to see if it deserves my hard-earned, devalued, American dollars.

This guy has more Haze impressions from the Play.com event:

http://resistance100.wordpress.com/2008/03/16/playcom-live-haze-impressions-continuted/

I also changed the difficulty settings to hard to get a true idea of what the AI is capable of, and also can now confirm that you can customise the controls to however you like and the sensitivity, so the control problems i found yesterday are a thing of the past.

At the start of the demo you start in area, getting attacked from various directions were you have to take out several of your enemy’s, now the Ai is impressive here they were flanking, and when you shoot at them or go towards them they will dive out of the way and into cover

Now if you make the mistake i made and get off the car, just before the enemy from a shed come full pelt in a car and try to ram you down while shooting at you. This is where the Ai really did shine, as i was trying to run away and shoot the car at the same time, it trys to cicrle you while others on the car are shooting at the same time.

I will say one thing for the visuals on this one, while the cars etc where well textured the landscape was a bit bland but saying that you are in a sort of desert environment so its not to surprising.

The 2nd time i played it today i focused on seeing how the necture add’s to the gameplay. The first thing i noticed was that the drug makes you move a bit faster and the enemy’s stand out more, this is very useful and i suspect will be vital for completing the first half of the game where you are a mantel trooper.

There is a downside to using necter however. Firstly if you take to much at once, (which is known as an overdose) the screen will begin to blur making it harder to see your enemy’s, but not only that but it does it a little harder to notice who your own men our and i one point i ended up shooting my own allies by accident, so you need to make sure you don’t overdose.

The other thing i noticed is that the play dead feature comes into place. Your enemys will click that you using necter and will play dead, now this is annoying as a side effect of necter is that you can’t see any dead bodies and while using necter you can walk through what you think is a safe area then all of a sudden people will appear and start shooting you.

Also, it ran well with no dips in the framerate.

I don't understand the Free Radical hate but it doesn't surprise me. Even though Timesplitters: Future Perfect was amazing and was just like getting a good Goldeneye or Perfect Dark sequel people bitched about it. If this game was coming to 360 I'd get it right away. But either way since I'll be getting a PS3 someday for MGS4 I won't miss it.

:lol

OK, this Nectar stuff, in an effort to sanitize the horrors of war, makes dead bodies disappear from your sight? So the rebels, they just lie down when they see you coming, play dead, wait for you to pass by, then bushwhack you?

Man, it must be hard for the Mantel sarge. If the privates want to blow off training, they can just fall asleep. Now they're invisible!

MGS4, GT5 and FF won't have 4 player co-op. That's why I am interested in this at least. Oh and Goldeneye.

It may not be God's gift to man though. I expect low scores. <8.

GT5 & MGS4 both have 16 player-op.

Seriously... if you want a title to make Xbox 360 fans jealous, you need to tell them it's coming out for 360 until like... the day before release. You can't give them months and months to declare the game sucks. I mean really. I have no idea if Haze will be good or not, I just know it's good to have the option to buy it if I want it. Timesplitters I know didn't suck, my favorite FPS series of last gen... so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Has GAF always been this way ? The last days have been a constant war : Swords are drawn and guns armed at the least sign of criticism from both sides. Must be the accumulated anger...

These are the dog days etc...

I'm planning on upping the stakes and putting some birthday money (worth more than normal $$) on Haze.

Play.com Live: Haze Hands On – The Horror Revealed

http://www.ripten.com/2008/03/16/playcom-live-haze-hands-on-–-the-horror-revealed/

I can't believe anyone would rag on a Free Radical game!? Are we to expect that journalists are going to be as biased? Are any of you guys JOURNALISTS that haven't played the game!!??? If so go get a job you're actually good at.

However, we did notice that the Haze box in our demo pod had a sticker with a 10/10 review score and the quotation; “The Best Playstation 3 game yet” . Ah wait, it hasn’t been reviewed yet. Freed Radical are cheeky scamps.
:lol

Just the all the different posts of bitter tears, "did not want anyways", "it's generic", and so forth. Then the "you're a fanboy", "no you're fanboy stfu" posts are pretty funny too. This thread is AAA. Especially after the MGS4 thread.

If this continues into next week, I fully expect funny bannages.

edit: jealous that you get to play Haze. :(

I heard journalists on Sunday saying "Meh Haze is crap" even though they hadn't played it - prob just looked over a shoulder and cried about exclusivity. Even if they didn't originally want it, there's some kind of obsessed passion that says "it can't be good if I can't play it on my console of choice". So odd. Was there this backlash on Bioshock?

Well you struggled through the controls enough to experience the disappointingly overhyped nectar feature that amounts to a handful of cliched gameplay choices that really won't be useful outside of predetermined set pieces that'll make it blindingly obvious when to use what. Also you experienced slight nausea over the bland texture work and generic character design.

And sewing machines.

Well TS1 was good, TS2 was great, Second Sight was shit and so was TS Future Perfect. So there's room for manuever. As I've said earlier I was interested in the game, but as a solid B title.

Are we to expect that journalists are going to be some bias shit?
A person cannot "be bias"! People are biased.

Oh. Okay.

Could've got further, but I dont like standing up for ages...and the cutscenes were not skippable (with lame facial animation) and then when i passed it someone else they wanted to play it from the begining. Most thought it was a demo - NO...it was the FULL GAME. They wouldn't let me skip to a latter level - I wanted to play as a rebel :(

Also got to play it at play.com live. It was pretty terrible to be honest.

Now i have to be honest here and say i dont like any of Free Radicals previous games, just letting ya know.

Ok first up graphics wise. Totally average. Has some nice bluring effects when you die or take nectar but pretty much everything else is mediocre. Character models look like a first gen 360 game. Levels are boring. The gun models are nice, thats about all i can praise the graphics on. Its surprising how much it looks like a low end multiplatform title.

Gameplay. Didnt care for the default control layout but i hear the controls are customisable so thats not a problem. The gunplay is fine, nothing to write home about. The AI was pretty terrible. Just seem to be cannon fodder. They are good shots but dont put up any kind of challenge. I saw someone playing in a vehicle, he had stopped in front of two enemies and they were just standing there and then started to run into it but not firing or trying to attack in anyway. So yeah :/

Non skipable cut scenes...erm why?

Thats about it. I did only play for about 10 minutes so these are just my first impressions, but i cant honestly say i would buy it at this point.

That sounds almost exactly like my first 10 minutes with Halo 3. So I guess it will be ok. Not a game I would play through more than one time though.

I have to say that if it wasn't exclusive to a console it would not got anyway near as much publicity or coverage on GAF, it looks medicore to me but not having played it i'll save my judgement till then.

Intersting that you are putting it in the same league as bioshock, So you think the game is good then??

I placed against Bioshock - because it was a flip flopper as well - and then went 360 exclusive before it was released.

Yes I think Haze is good.

Bioshock most definitely gets hated on. Everything from being called, "the most overrated game in >insert time frame<" to being just downright "terrible". The difference being is that it's in the minority.

..and again, Haze wasn't/isn't getting hate just because of exclusivity status.

As for them being in the same quality league. Yeah, we'll see...

Personal preference. I like John Woo's movies. I bought SE with the movie on BD but ended up loving the game just as much.

Wasnt it stated that the builds there were months old. I know it may not change your mind, but it may be more polished now.

That seems like a horrible marketing strategy if that's the case... hey we delayed the game to make it better, here, play some old builds.

i think any game that goes through numerous delays has a period of backlash. once it comes out and people play it for themselves i think it'll be judged pretty fairly.

frankly, this news makes me happy as a multiplatform owner who loved the Timesplitter series. why? because Sony feel good enough about the game to pay for the exclusive. that's a good sign that it's turned out well.

glad to hear positive impressions. they sound better than they did last year.

Oh right! That reminds me. We've had all sorts of statements in this trainwreck of a thread, but I couldn't help but think that something was missing. Where are all the "PC VERSION - THE WAY ITS MEANT TO BE PLAYED" comments? I saw them quite a lot in the PC/360 game threads.

I'm not surprised at all.

The game needs all the attention it can get.

Putting it as an exclusive, timed or not, generates some interest in the title, as can be seen pretty clearly in this thread.

At this point, that sentiment goes without saying.

PC FTW.
