Console prices in Canada going up; PS4 449,99$ at The Source.

As a Canadian, I'm glad to be a pc gamer. Just as few example. Dark souls 2 is 59.99 (70$ with taxes) on ps3/360 and I got it for 35.99 on pc. Bioshock infinite at release was also the full price on consoles and I got it for 45.99 with bioshock 1,2 AND civ 5.

I mean, even if it cost 200-300$ more as a Canadian to buy a PC versus a next gen console, you would save it withing a year (on top of monthly online fee). Internet cost also a lot compare and cell phones services are just out of this world.

Goddamnit! Been hunting for a ps4 in Toronto for weeks and now this happens. Would rather pay 450 converted from amazon than 510 with tax
Well damn lol.

I've yet to see a PS4 anywhere, so I guess it makes sense from a business perspective, but that's still shitty. Good thing I got a PS4 in Nov.

What sucks is that I was waiting for the price to drop on the XBone before buying one, but given this news that may not happen anytime soon.

If you're going to make a comparison at least mention the positives and negatives of both. There are advantages going digital but also disadvantages too and positives going physical. The money you saved going digital means you can't sell, trade and stuck with that digital copy forever. I know someone who traded in the Last of Us for Pokemon x/y because a promotion eb games were having. That was within 4 months too.

There are too many variables to say one way or the other is better. Do you like multiplayer gaming in the first place? Do you value the rental-like service with subscribing to PS+? Do you value having a physical collection? Do you sell, trade or share games with other console gamers?

Wanted an xb1, but this pretty much means I will be PS4 and WiiU this gen.

Or maybe just PS4, the WiiU has not been turned on in months and could very well be dead

I'm comparing to what the retailers are charging. It was almost 40 cents under 10 years ago and game prices were $69.99 at that time. We shouldn't be seeing the same kind of price hike at around 90 cents. Retailers are trying to gouge as much as they can
why would you even compare that? it was 40 cents because the usa was coming out of the info tech revolution. it wasn't that cad was doing bad, it was that the usd and its economy was so above everyone else.

situation now is different. we are lagging behind a country that's lagging behind others.

I remember when 1 USD was worth 1.75 Canadian(about 10 years ago). I hope we get back to that, then I can get stuff cheep on trips to chinatown in TO.

Just means I need to really find a PS4 in retails soon before all of them decide to jack up the price otherwise I'm not getting one until there is a price drop around the holiday season.

Haha, it wasn't 1.75.. it was closer to 1.40
It got to $1.60.

According to the Sun, console scarcity has continued in Canada, with PS4s still hard to find in the wild. However, the newspaper does note that while Xbox One has been soundly outsold by PS4 in Canada so far, the numbers are tightening. We’ll have to wait and see if this price change further evens the playing field.

Huh did we get any Canadian Hardware numbers previously?

All this does is make me hold off my PS4 purchase longer, I was half thinking of buying one this summer if I could find one.
