The JP cover is awful and a huge spoiler, I'm glad they're using another cover instead.

Yeah better than the spoiler, and it's possible that the artwork they were given, didn't give them a lot to work with and/or were spoilery anyways.

I'd be fine with the English cover, if not for the big green glowy thing. It kind of clashes with the rest of the cover.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
Summer is already full of stuff to play and now the Fall is getting stuff too.

All special editions should be called "Legacy Edition" from now on.
You mean like this?

I wonder if a trilogy pack for PS Vita or PS4 would be possible in the future for this series...

I'm so excited for this, and happy it's getting a physical release too. I loved both previous games, and while the first one was stronger, BoS had some great creepy moments,
in particular the flashback chapter where you play as the teacher, and "Tooth"

Completely agree. It must be something very important story-wise to be there. I'd prefer the cover without it.

Yup. That and the Corpse Party font actually.

Yup.

Will still get it though. Hopefully the cover art is not 100% final and it can be improved before release.

Couldn't be bothered releasing the previous game but this gets a physical release. I guess it won't stop me from buying it, but disappointing regardless.

XSEED keeping the legacy alive.

I still haven't finished Corpse Party 1 yet. I couldn't tell if I was enjoying it or not when I stopped playing (sometimes I loved it; sometimes it was a chore). Still, I'll probably try this down the line.

XSEED continues to be the saviors of the Vita. Corpse Party is still one of my favourite recent horror games. Glad to see we're getting Blood Drive, not that I really expected otherwise.

Corpse Party 2 after this, c'mon.

There's kind of a difference between PSP and Vita physical copies, given their history...

Day 1. I didn't realize this was a conclusion to the story, that's cool. I might even buy the retail version because Sony doesn't want to lower it's memory card pricing for it's legacy platform.

The new abilities and options sound great the PSP game was too simple and failed to create a tense atmosphere (as opposed to just a frustrating one) as all you could do was walk.

I mean the previous game in the series was skipped entirely and didn't even get a digital release, yet they are confident enough with this to give it a physical one.

What game is that? I own both Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows digitally.

Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows have been released in English digitally.

Now, if you're talking about Birthday 2U, that game is not canon, and probably will not be released.

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient has not been released yet, and is part of a separate story arc.

Actually it has some info about certain things in 2U that you can't get in the other games.

Downplay it all you want, they still skipped it despite the previous ones doing so well they felt confident enough to go physical for this one.

I dunno where you got that from but Book of Shadows didn't do as well. I'm sure they're more confident in BD since it's more in the style of the first game.

What difference does it make? At least we're getting Blood Drive. Don't get all angry just because a non-canon, fanservice-riddled game which has little to do with the main story was skipped.

And like InfiniteNine said, Book of Shadows didn't do as well as the first game.

Previous "one." Book of Shadows was nowhere near as popular, unfortunately -- the visual novel style really didn't seem to appeal to people as much as the RPGMaker style of the first game. A shame, really, because the game itself is an excellent follow-up.

That, though, along with the drastic tonal shift, made 2U pretty much impossible to justify releasing. We wish we could've, but the numbers just didn't work out.

For those saying it's "non-canon," though, I do feel the need to correct you: although most of the events in 2U are irrelevant to the overarching plotline of Corpse Party, they *are* technically canon.

Also, for those of you commenting on the box art and/or logo:

The "green glowy thing" in question is a set of two Everafter Stones (as we're calling them in English), which are extremely important to the story of the game. They exist on the front cover because they're part of the English logo, and they're part of the English logo because each previous Corpse Party title has had one element from the game appended to the right side of the logo: the first had the blood splatter, the second had the Book of Shadows itself, and the third has the Everafter Stones.

As for the text of the logo, the "BLOOD DRIVE" is taken straight from the Japanese logo, but the "Corpse Party" part needed to be translated. We were going to just take the English "Corpse Party" text straight out of the first game's logo, but the coloring and stylistic differences between that text and the "BLOOD DRIVE" text looked... really jarring. So we adapted the logo from the first game into something that still looks more or less the same, but is more stylistically consistent with the "BLOOD DRIVE" text.

...Oh, and the box art itself was a no-brainer. The regular Japanese box-art is a huge spoiler for the previous games, and makes the game look like some kind of school dating sim, while the Japanese LE box-art depicts a scene that's not even in the game at all (at least, not as depicted). We elected to eschew both images in favor of something a little more representative of the mood and narrative of Blood Drive -- and that eye pic is both creepy to look at and also has a lot of subtle detail in it (for example, did you notice that there's a word spelled out in the cornea? It's in Japanese, but it reads "Sachi." This is a central plot point in the game).

As I stated they seem to be confident enough with this one to not only release it but give it a physical release. Doesn't seem to be the case from what you guys are saying, so I'm not sure why they are taking the risk even with it more in line with the first game.

Get off your high horse. The game is canon and the other games have fan service in them too. I wanted the game localized because I'm a fan of the series, who is "getting all angry"? Seems like it's you with how defensive you've gotten, all I said was that I was disappointed.

Fair enough. I realize you guys are running a business and need to make your decisions accordingly. Hopefully they work out for you.

Also thank you for addressing this.
