Corpse Party: Blood Drive (Vita) coming to North America this Fall

So is the only way to get the physical edition is to buy the LE? I don't really like the bonus content and I would much prefer a standard physical copy without all the other stuff.

Seems so. I think it'll be similar to Senran Kagura Let's Get Physical, $50/60 "LE" that's essentially a day 1 edition.

My only ask to XSEED is to be especially diligent about not using any material from the
2nd OP sequence
in marketing this game.

Experiencing Asami Imai's Keshin first-hand when it materialized in Chapter 7 - not even knowing there was a 2nd opening or what direction the game was headed at that point - was when the truly epic nature of this final installment sank its claws into me. The art direction of that opening, the deluge of story content from the first half of Blood Drive and the timing with the music was exceptional. I still get goosebumps to this day from it.

Just want people to have the opportunity to share that experience this fall if they're able to go in cold.

I knew someone would do something like that. :) muuch better

I... like it better with the Everafter Stones, personally. A lot better. I think the clashing red and green really pops and makes it stand out, and looks really cool as well.

Without the green, I think the whole cover kind of... blends into the background. Your eyes sort of naturally pass it by, as it's just too monochromatic. And the logo really feels like it's missing something.

But kudos on showing exactly what you want to see -- my own opinions aside, it's clear that our cover art and logo are somewhat controversial, so again, I'll bring this up at our next meeting and see what we can do.

Again, though, no guarantees. We really did not anticipate this much backlash, so a lot of this has been finalized, especially in regards to the logo. It may be too late to change it. But I'll be absolutely certain that your opinions are shared with the office, and if there's anything left we can do, we'll do it.

Pleased to meet y'all, I'm Mr. LTTP.

For those who have finished CP and BoS, about how long would it take me to clear both? There are several months to go, I know, but the summer is already surprisingly full!

Probably shouldn't take more than a week or two for each even with a busy schedule unless you're being ultra-completist about student IDs and alternate endings (aka bad ends). I would still highly encourage you to seek out the latter, however... they add plenty of value to the Corpse Party experience and provide character depth.

Also, #1 priority for any aspiring Corpse Party gamer... wear headphones and play at night in a dark room.

I'd say 10 hours per game, maybe. If you don't want to get every ending.

Honestly I didn't notice that at first and I was kinda like "They went with an in-game CG?" but if you can find a way to throw in the stones without being too garish it'd be fine.

Am I the only one disappointed by the absence of a makeshift Sachiko Ever After charm being included in the Blood Drive Everafter edition?

latest

I want a perfectly renditioned-to-scale paper doll that I can tear apart with my friends after a ritual ceremony. I could cut my own but I'm lazy and would get the dimensions wrong.

That's an easy one! If the game was published by Marvelous Japan, we use the Marvelous logo. If it was published by a third party, we use the XSEED logo.

We figured, if we're publishing a game from our parent company anyway, it would be kind of rude NOT to use the Marvelous logo on the box, seeing as how we technically ARE Marvelous. ;)

-Tom

Does that mean you're not mandated to put the Marvelous logo on everything you make by your parent company? That's... pretty cool of them. Respect.

And to chime in on the box art conversation - I'm not really a fan either as-is to be honest. The Ayumi crucifix one is awesome (but I could see why it would be controversial). I think I like the Japanese cover art best of all to be honest, though.

Make sure you either do get every ending OR load save-data from the first Corpse Party when playing Book of Shadows, though, or else you won't be able to play the final chapter (which is the most relevant to Blood Drive, and is in fact called "Blood Drive"!).

We do have a printable one on our website for the first Corpse Party via a hidden link. But yeah, I joked about this with Ken. Cheapest LE item ever! ;)

By the way Tom, did you guys think about sending a "review code" (and a PSTV I guess) to pewdiepie? Unless I'm mistaken he's a fan of the series and the game would get a pretty big exposure.

Too soon to think about that -- the game is translated and edited, but we won't be receiving our first English build until this week, so we're still a good ways off from even having review codes to give.

Pewdiepie's inevitable Blood Drive playthrough will do more for this game's exposure than just about anything else... although I'm looking forward to watching streams from normal gamers who don't go out of their way to be literal cartoon characters.

Yeah, of course. I was talking about the possibility of doing that when it'll be ready to ship.

Oh, sure, I'm saying that as a Corpse Party longtime fan, not a Pewdiepie fan. Personally, I can't stand more than 30 seconds of his videos.
His playthroughs of the first two games got several million views but they were obviously too late to do anything significant to their sales (I assume, being on psp and all that) so it'd be nice to have something timely for Blood Drive.

A Blood Drive PewDiePie playthrough before or at launch would be amazing for XSEED. Just try to do like WB that provided him an early build of Dying Light and give him the first look at the game.

I can actually confirm that a lot of people I know that happen to watch him know about the game because he played it. I don't like his stuff much, but even if it was just a demo, it would do the game wonders. XSeed, you should seriously consider it!

The ideal would be an early translated demo build of Chapters 1 through 3 as content from those won't get pulled from YouTube... whereas Chapters 4 and up will for spoiler reasons.

Shame too... as I'd love to see Pewdiepie's reaction to the infamous song from Chapter 4.

Since when does YouTube pull things due to spoilers? First I've heard of that.

Anyway, we'll definitely look into that -- it's a good idea! Though if we sent it to him, it would be the full game, not a limited demo.

Heh. Well, they don't seem to be enforcing it tooooo strongly, since they've already agreed to let us show chapter 4 at E3 (since that's the first chapter where the whole school is open and explorable). ;)

-Tom
Good to hear. Chapter 4 has a LOT of content to really showcase Blood Drive at its finest.
Some fun bad ends and not much in the way of spoilers in that one until the climax of that chapter, too.

Yep. Our thoughts exactly. And while we'll let people play all the way through the chapter if they reeeeeally want to (and there's not a line behind them), we'll be sure to warn them of possible spoilers should they choose to do so -- and will reset the chapter between demos otherwise. ;)

Here is the Ayumi crucifix artwork I referenced earlier...

This cover is amazing. I don't see any issues with using this one as a reversible cover option.

And thanks for listening to the fans Tom. You guys have done an amazing job with this series.

Maybe asked already, but will EU be getting the Ever after edition around the same time or am I gonna have to import?

Nothing about EU yet, even if we get the game physically I wouldn't bet on a LE.

Heh, I know it's disappointing for you guys, but I'd be cool with that. I'll import if there's no physical version, but I don't collect any extra LE goods. A physical-only version in EU would be neat.

I don't collect LEs either so I'm actually not a fan of "LE only" physical releases that are more expensive like this (and especially Ar Nosurge ._.). I'd prefert a normal release for EU as well. I thought Marvelous EU would do physical releases of XSEED games in the future but so far it seems like the opposite with SK2 (limited and expensive release) and Lords of Magna (digital only). I hope NISA will bring it to stores here.

I will have to wait for other retailers to put up the game on their sites since Amazon doesn't seem to ship games to Singapore.

$50 is fine considering all the stuff that comes with it, I was kinda expecting $60. Pre-ordered.
I was expecting $100 actually. Series is so good to be so cheap.

I preordered so fast. I'm moving so had to set the address to my aunt's house. So I guess she'll have to ship it to me. I could change address when I know what the new one is and I'd also want to add gc credit instead of cc but it doesn't matter. Not changing a thing. I will do nothing to risk it messing up the order and missing this. It is MINE.
