Well guess I better just use the default weapon then since I haven't started using new weapons until world 2.
I just realized how much I dislike the Djinn battle. The first phase can be a cluster mess, the second phase is extremely annoying and boring auto scroll section, the third is hard but fun, the fourth simply relies on blocking the player's view, which is cheap and unfun.
This might be a stupid question, but does anybody know if the bosses keep taking damage when they are changing phases and if that would make the following phase shorter?
Specifically talking about Djinn, does the auto scroll part damage the boss if I keep shooting the pillars?
Thanks.
We are also working on some minor bug fixes and a few balance-related issues across all platforms (OP Charge weapon, we are looking at you!).
They also referenced the charge weapon in a post today on the studio's blog.

Wonder how much they'll weaken charge. While it comes off as super strong now they can't weaken it too much or they'll render it pointless. Maybe that can change it to allow you to hold a charge while dashing/parrying?
Who is 2017's best new character and why is it Mr. King Dice?
Nice! Any tips for not getting hit when fighting King Dice?Got all the achievements

I finished this earlier today, 13 hours, just over 700 deaths total. The devil was a little underwhelming after King Dice, but still a pretty good fight. Looking forward to going back and getting pacifist/all A ranks, although I don't think I have it in me to do everything on expert
If King Dice only has 1 die for a head then where is the other die?🤔

Here's the problem with the Charge shot - at this point, it is universally the best weapon in every situation. That is not the way it's supposed to be. Each weapon should have its own situational use.
The goal is to have the charge shot be situationally the best weapon but not universally the best weapon. The goal is to make you want to switch out your weapon depending on which boss or level you are on.
Due to the design of most bosses, the only general weakness of the Charge shot is when there are a ton of fast moving enemies on the screen at once that you have to clear out, which rarely happens.
Additionally, it allows you "package" or "save" damage during invincible portions/transitions, which no other weapons can, and its base level of damage is too high anyway. Being able to crush a boss within 45 seconds with the charge shot alone, while the next fastest weapon taking 1:20 means it's broken, flat out.
Cuphead 2!
thank you for always responding to me and being the only person in the thread who thinks the game has terrible balance

Wait what? You are set on getting all P ranks on the run and gun levels but dont think you can do Expert? Breh some of these run and gun levels are cray.
Like if you dont care about rank just pick the twin heart charm and then you have five lives to beat a boss. Easy.
Yeah, I completely agree with all of this. There's some very interesting weapon design in the game, but it gets completely overshadowed by the raw DPS advantage of charge shot. Spreader and Ricochet have their advantages for clearing, and Lobber is good for some weird phases, but that is only in a handful of the ~50-ish (non-plane) phases throughout the game. Each gun should be "best" in like ~5-10 phases, or Top 3 in about 25 phases. Charge Shot is the singular best in something like 40-45 phases, and Chaser/Normal are best in, like, a single phase each.
Nerf charge shot, buff Chaser and Normal, and make it more transparent on how much damage different moves are doing, somehow. I beat the game, but I have absolutely no idea how much the various special moves do, other than the airplane bomb being really really powerful. Does Spread super do anything? Is Charge super useful? Chaser's weird thing worth the giant risk?
So I guess the game decided I didn't want to play today, because it started stuttering like crazy and I couldn't fix it by restarting the game or Steam.
I don't really know what was up. I'll try again tomorrow.
I've found restarting my computer fixed it, for whatever reason. Stuttering and extremely long load times was my problem. Just restarting the game wasn't enough.
Anyone have any gifs I can look at since I can't afford the game?
Damn, nice! Still on island 1. LOLGot all the achievements
Fantastic game
You don't? How do you reconcile treating people like one gun is wildly overpowered without that being a substantial balance issue?
If there's debate over whether one of six weapons in the game is actually completely gamebreaking... it probably isn't a well-balanced game.
I beat the entire game without charge shot because the one time I used it, it was immediately noticeable how broken it was. Don't trivialize the game by leaning on an unbalanced crutch.
one outlier weapon = terrible balance?
all the other weapons are very nicely balanced with eachother
Agreed. I think the important part is I never felt under-powered regardless of loadouts unless I was using an obvious mismatch for the boss. Kill times never felt too long imo, unless you go like chaser and double heart which still has its benefits.one outlier weapon = terrible balance?

I impulse bought it and beat it in one sitting (4 hours). I need more!
I play the game how I want to, thanks though.
While I am genuinely impressed with this feat, I am genuinely disappointed that I am now going to associate Piccolo with Pickles from here on out. Ugh.
Is the PC version better in any way compared to Xbone?
Aw, I like Pickle-o. Just toss it in with Carrot Kakarot and Radish Raditz!
