The GTA marketing criticism has everything to do with people
thinking it would be that. They literally say story driven open world rpg in the trailers. Not once did we see "immuuursive activities" like eating and drinking or mini-games in any of the gameplay or CGI trailers. People saw cars and guns, expected GTA, then threw a hissy fit when they got something else that was never promised or sold as such. People need to start taking some level of personal responsibility for their purchase decisions. I never blamed Guerilla Games for my PS4 purchase of H:ZD because the opening sidequest was RPG 101 fetch quest drivel, the voice acting was wooden and Aloy's voice actor has the range of a barking dog. I chalked it up to shoulda done my homework and $60 misspent because I can't get a fucking refund on Sony's shitty store and moved on.
Management, no doubt. Roast them for crunch and releasing console versions that came in hot. I do enjoy the tears though after decades of worse than CP2077 PC console ports, hello Arkham Knight, Nier: Automata and RDR 2. Let's not pretend like Naughty Dog wasn't running a sweatshop crunch studio either, still haven't released their MP mode

, yet are showered in GOTY awards.
