Daredevil on Netflix *SPOILER THREAD* |OT|

I really appreciate all the deaths though. You look at the MCU movies and they don't really have the balls to keep many people dead. Coulson died a heroic and emotional death in The Avengers, then they revived him and gave him his own TV show.

In this show they killed off The Owl and Ben Urich in the first season. That's great.

What idiot at Marvel signed off on Ben Ulrich being killed off? Would have been so easy to move him over to the Daily Bugle. Also, the suit looked like shit. Otherwise, show was great.

Just finished, what a great show. Who's Betsy, a dog? I'll probably be doing a rewatch in the near future, but slower this time. Loved the characters, especially Matt. It was nice seeing him so affected by what he's had to do. Fisk was great too, you rarely see into the life of the villain like you do here. Action was great, although there were less visually striking after that hallway fight. Hopefully we see some DD/Matt show up in either of the other Netflix shows/movies. Unlike AoS, I don't think there would be any problems throwing Charlie Cox into the bigtime.

I just finished the season.
What a fantastic show.

The performances from everyone were amazing and only got better as the show went on.
I have to say though that the villains really made a lot of the show. Gao, the Owl, Wesley, Vanessa, and Fisk were entertaining in pretty much every scene. Although I felt the costume at the end was a bit cheesy and some of the shots looked kinda forced, the final episode showing the downfall of Fisk and his beating at the hands of Matt was well worth the wait. I especially liked how as the show progressed Fisk became more and more unhinged, emphasizing the childish monster inside of him. I really enjoyed Charlie Cox's performance as Matt, he strongly captured the internal struggle of being a vigilante, lawyer, and religious man in one. Foggy also surprised at how much I connected with character as time went on.

Random Thoughts
- the violence definitely sticks with you after watching some scenes
- Urich's death was sad, but I'm glad he went out protecting Karen. Still, it was a shocking death
- Gao was amazing. I felt more fear from her than the Kingpin in some scenes and she only spoke, half the time in another language.
- The Owl cracked me up in pretty much every scene.
- I really wonder how they'll progress from hear. Obviously people like Elektra, Bullseye, the Hand, and the Punisher may show up but the show took a lot of liberties from the comics and made some interesting creative choices.

Man, them killing off Urich upsets me. So much potential as a character, to appear in and bridge between many things. Then taken out in 10 episodes or less.

I know nothing about Daredevil so I interpreted Stick's conversation about an upcoming war as a reference to the Civil War that will eventually happen.

I am also disappointed that the fighting sequences weren't as good as the hallway scene in episode 2.

The fights were definitely disappointing. Dudes in black clothes fighting in near pitch dark rooms almost exclusively. Just a bunch of random flailing that they hope was masked by the darkness.

Honestly I expected more out of DeKnight after Spartacus.

Overall I liked the show quite a bit but I do have a few issues with some fights being difficult to make out and some of the dialogue in certain spots, all the characters seemed to have the same conversations over and over again with the same responses. Fisk got the same threat about going soft from like three people.

Also why did Wesley pull the shit he did? Before that he was portrayed as very competent and on the ball. And did the episode based around Stick feel a bit flat to anyone else, like there was no actual momentum to it?

STILT MAN???

Holy FUCK how did I miss this one?

Also, Stick was probably talking to Stone at the end of episode 7. Stone is one of a group of badass ninjas who go head to head with the Hand in a couple of DD stories.

i agree with this. kingpin is a psychopath and definitely someone you dont want to cross but i always felt that if he crossed gao he would be done. she was always calm and laughed at shit kind of like a "bitch please"

So where do they go with Fisk from here? His crime empire has pretty much been dismantled. Does he have enough influence anymore to strike back and rebuild from behind bars?

How does Fisk operate in the comics? Straight-up crime boss or does he masquerade as a friend to the community like he did in the show?

He has just as much influence in prison as he does on the street. He will get out and he will ruin Matt's life.

I'm wondering if the show said what Nobu and the yakuza contribute to their crime group. if I understand it right,

Gao provide the drugs
Russian provide the distribution with the taxi company
Leland manage the money
Fisk, I assume is the middle man, or the guy with the plan in the first place until he take over distribution from the Russian.

what did Nobu bring in? even Leland ask about it didn't he. or is it just money? Nobu is paying other for services like securing a place in Hell's Kitchen, making sure police stay clear from the docks etc?

Human trafficking

Fisk would be property management. He was buying and renovating buildings.

Nobu is Hand. I assume they would offer mercenary services in exchange for help with the human trafficking stuff. Protection, assassination, stuff like that.

Nobu wasn't part of the Yakuza. It was implied he was part of The Hand, a groups of supernatural ninja assassins in the Marvel U. Pretty sure they were just using Fisk's resources and influence for their own ends.

Gao was mystical too, seemingly connected to one of the bad guys of Iron Fist.

The final shot of the series, with DD jumping off the roof with the buildings in the background. Anyone know where that's from? It looks familiar and it's bugging me that I can't place it.

So, loose ends/sequel hooks:

Fisk's trial
Leland's son
The Hand
Stick/Blanka (who was the guy he talked to?)
Gao/Kun-Lun

What else?

I choose to believe that the sniper on the roof who shot Blake was Bullseye. Though it would mean he failed to kill him, but..but...but...

I loved the take they took with Kingpin however I hope he comes out alittle more menacing and alittle less forgiving after he comes out of jail with vengeance of his mind.

is Stick end up a bad guy or villain like Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begin? I hope not, I really like his character in the netflix series. also what about Stone, that comic panel seems to show him as someone in favor of Matt Murdock while I get the impression that he'll be on the opposing side of Matt in the netflix series.

You forgot Karen's backstory and her hiding the fact she killed someone.

Absolutely loved everything about this show. The suit looks good but I'm so adjusted to seeing the black ninja suit, it felt really weird seeing that actual iconic red suit when it happened.

I also wished we get to see Daredevil swinging around with the billy club like in the comics at the very end of the last episode. Hopefully something like that will happen in his next Netflix appearance.

One thing that really bothered me though is how they killed off Urich. I was hoping that character will survive, and eventually end up in the Daily Bugles to play a bigger role in the MCU later on with Spiderman.

Overall, this show really exceeded my expectations. I have high hopes the rest that Netflix is going put out, Iron Fist especially.

When the billy club first smashed through the windshield I got so excited, but yeah him swinging with it at the end would have been cooler.

Urich's death shocked me. I was expecting him to go on and do the great things he did in the comics like work at the Bugle, maybe meet Peter Parker, or discover DD's identity by himself. He was hinting at some truth as well during that last alley meeting they had where he caught on to what Matt was saying and Ben replied with "no one would notice a blind man" or something like that and "Like a boxer" to something Matt quoted.

ending was anticlimactic to me. was expecting a big, long fight.

there are some things that it did better than flash/arrow.

main difference being this isn't procedural/episodic and more like watching a 13-hour movie.

i don't know if i prefer the slower paced story, though. kinda liked that about arrow especially season 1 with the parallel timelines.

fight scene in ep 2 was the worst. foggy was hit and miss. karen was freaking stupid visiting fisk's mom after everything. yeah going to the mother of the villain isn't going to raise any red flags. come on, you are already in danger.

a lot of talking and drama. again, more series-like than the other shows.

also didn't like how kingpin was more emotional than he was menacing. or i guess he has yet to become the kingpin. vanessa was crazy in the head, and mrs. gao was awesome.

season 2 will probably revolve around "the war". didn't really like stick's character for some reason.

why didn't fisk kill murdock right away when nobu died? i dunno, just seems odd considering fisk had the whole force trying to kill murdock in the warehouse yet when frisk confronted murdock he was too sloppy and just punched and kicked murdock and let his goons shoot him?

also, why are we spoiling potential future episodes here by talking about comics stuff? i wanna go in blind on those yet i see talk about the hand and some ninja...

They kinda dug themselves into a grave when they decided to kill Urich. Then again I'm pretty sure they had no idea that Spiderman is going to join the MCU when they were filming. I don't see how they can retcon his death at this point...

Foggy's ex-girlfriend searching for new job, she might end up working for N&M? Not really a loose end but I'd like to see what happens.

So, I really liked it. I especially enjoyed how they gave equal attention to the villians as they did Matt & co, and it really helped make the villians that much more menacing/interesting. It's a basic thing, but something every other superhero show up until now has lacked. For instance, in Arrow and The Flash the main villians basically only show up for tiny scenes or when they deal with main characters directly, you almost never see them do stuff on their own or interact with others. Daredevil on the other hand had an entire episode that was basically only focused on Wilson Fisk's backstory.

Just finished it.

I liked it overall. Cox was fantastic and the best part for me. Rest of the cast was pretty good as well, Foggy's acting was meh, and while I loved the idea of D'Onofrio as Fisk, I feel like he was given improper direction in some scenes. I understand this portrayal was supposed to be an interesting combination between emotional and menacing, but the performance felt inconsistent. Most of that could probably be contributed to the writing. I cringed a lot watching these episodes. The show had a lot of imperfections (like plenty of MCU stuff does) but the fight scenes, Cox's performance, and the grittier tone kept me super into it.

Interested to see where they go with all these Defenders shows, and I hope they fix the blemishes. I really wanted to enjoy Daredevil more than I did, but I wasn't able to see past its problems.

Good shit, though.

Sucks at Ben and Wesley died, they were great characters.

So, now I'm finished with it. Really pleased with it. Netflix, Disney and Marvel are really on a roll. They are going to take media over

They set up a solid first season. Really interested in seeing where they go from here.

Does Daredevil have a No Kill Rule in the comics? Because I fucking hate those. You're laying the hurt on people, sometimes seriously injuring them and putting them into comas.

Just kill them. I really hoped that this season would be the build up to him doing whatever it takes and killing Fisk.

Do we not get Fisk in his trademark white suit? He's always wearing black or gray
