I just finished the season.
What a fantastic show.
The performances from everyone were amazing and only got better as the show went on.
I have to say though that the villains really made a lot of the show. Gao, the Owl, Wesley, Vanessa, and Fisk were entertaining in pretty much every scene. Although I felt the costume at the end was a bit cheesy and some of the shots looked kinda forced, the final episode showing the downfall of Fisk and his beating at the hands of Matt was well worth the wait. I especially liked how as the show progressed Fisk became more and more unhinged, emphasizing the childish monster inside of him. I really enjoyed Charlie Cox's performance as Matt, he strongly captured the internal struggle of being a vigilante, lawyer, and religious man in one. Foggy also surprised at how much I connected with character as time went on.
Random Thoughts
- the violence definitely sticks with you after watching some scenes
- Urich's death was sad, but I'm glad he went out protecting Karen. Still, it was a shocking death
- Gao was amazing. I felt more fear from her than the Kingpin in some scenes and she only spoke, half the time in another language.
- The Owl cracked me up in pretty much every scene.
- I really wonder how they'll progress from hear. Obviously people like Elektra, Bullseye, the Hand, and the Punisher may show up but the show took a lot of liberties from the comics and made some interesting creative choices.
