Try using arrows to lure two of the rats out one at a time. They're really easy then.

The boar is also really easy if you lure it near the fire.

I dont have any arrows :o

I ended up running past the rats and did the lure the boar into the fire thing. Got this cool looking helmet too.

Killed the "super spear guy" in the next room, but got killed by the super sword guy, I was in the room with the stairs and had like 0 room to move around, and most of my swings got caught on the wall.

Why...you gotta be like that man. You could have let me have that.

It's okay. Better you find out this way than by somebody else having the exact same story. Rip the bandage off quickly, son.

;)

When I was bashing my head against a wall trying to beat some later bosses, I summoned this one guy three times (we had a shield party - just waving our shields around), then he summoned me, then we were both summoned by someone else...who did not take kindly to our shield party and booted us. It was pretty great.

I usually roll with a longsword as my main melee weapon... I like the fact that r1 does a cross slash and r2 does a lunge stab (I miss this attack style when I'm using the Drake Sword).

I'm looking for suggestions on other weapons to start upgrading... I have a longsword+5 that I think is slated to go to longsword+15. But I have a bunch of chunks and such and I have the divine and raw trees open to me. So I'm looking for other weapons (I have a regular one of anything I've found, like spear/partizan/shortsword/bandit's knife). I also have a longbow+5 that might be good for something as well.

Anyone care to recommend what I should do as far as weapons to try out? My strength is maybe 16, my dexterity is 20.

Also, I'm hearing about additional Minotaurs and Capra Demons. Does this mean the damned butchers also make a return somewhere? I want my effin' sack!

Ah, so I probably haven't reached it yet. Thanks!

You have. He's a bit before the small bridge with the fire bombers. Along the way to the very first bonfire, it's easy to miss the path. From the first bonfire, head out, kill the crossbowman and the 3-4 guys down the stairs to the right. Then look left. It's a roof with two spear guys, with crates blocking the stairs down. The merchant is on a balcony downstairs.

Well.. humanity level 3.. and it only marginally raises drops.. so little it seems they are dropping less..

..man farming titanite and humanity in the Depths is grinding hell.

..but I want +10 badass leather.

There's a merchant who sells the Titanite you're grinding. You'd probably be better served continuing with the game until you meet him than grinding for armor upgrades.

They need to find ways to get more players together. Hopefully, they issue a big patch that ties together servers.

Has there been any indication from From Software and / or Namco that there is an issue with this.

Don't get me wrong, I've summoned others and been summoned myself - but considering how much more Dark Souls sold than Demons Souls, yet Demons Souls feels like the more 'populated' games is a bit odd.

Although others have made good arguments that not enough people are in human form - and I can see how that is the case too. So much needs to be 'given' up in order to go human, and the benefits of being human isn't as drastic or immediately obvious as it was in Demons Souls. In Demons Souls, you flat out had like 50% less health. The motivation to revive was pretty strong.

I know you're right, but it's so tempting because you can farm titanite and humanity all within the same area.. it's like a 1 min run to do the whole thing.. but fruitless 9 times out of 10.

Don't be confused sir, that is why this thread exists :)! I completely forgot about the brief moment where the dragon shows up, my bad!

When you're using humanity (top left of the screen), you go to a bonfire and use 'revert'. That way you'll turn human. When you're in human form, use another humanity point to 'kindle'. You'll get +5 estus flasks which and everytime you rest at that bonfire you'll have 10 estus flasks :) Even for NG+!
Oh, that explanation helps a lot.

Thanks :)

I'm kind of bummed about equipment. I started as a Warrior and I'm still rocking the leather armor and heater shield I started with because I haven't found anything better. Really the only items I use besides what I started with are
the Drake Sword, Ring of Evil Eye, Havel's Ring, and Grass Crest Shield when I need some speed.

I'm 13-14 hours in and cleared up to the Depths, plus some optional areas. Anything great I'm missing, or is the Warrior starting gear just that awesome.

Also LOL at that "Regenerating health" ring that the game lets you start out with.

Complete waste

I just can't believe that I was going to completely ignore this game. I bought it for the dumbest reason, too. So I pre-ordered rage on steam and it ran like shit on my pc. I was pissed, yet still wanted to play the game. I drive to a B&M shop and buy the 360 version of rage and figure, if I'm spending $120 on rage then I should at least give dark souls a try. I go home with 360 rage and ps3 dark souls. Next thing you know I've spent 16 hours on DS and three on rage. This fucking game.

In Demon's Souls I was once summoned to be the 3-3 boss for a guy, who I then proceeded to beat rather thoroughly. About an hour later he summoned me as a blue phantom to fight the Flamelurker.

I found myself in the rather socially delicate position of needing to use the game's built-in gestures to communicate the fact that, yes, while I did just give him the plague and then stab him in the back, it wasn't anything personal and I was only doing it to get my hands on some ludicrous headwear.

I eventually settled on shrugging, pointing, equipping the silly hat, cheering, then shrugging again. I like to think he understood me.

any pro-tips for the bell gargoyles?

I'm really warming up to this game.

Seriously the biggest troll this year. What a hateful lie. There is no way they missed something so obvious at the beginning of the game.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how hard is my ass going to get kicked if I go into the Demon Ruins (level 36)?

Get the NPC to help. I forget his name, but he was in Knight armor, looking over a cliff. Talk to him, and click yes, and he'll help you.

if you want to take the easy path, you should be able to summon an AI controlled phantom by the fog gate if you're in human form. he'll distract them and help do some damage.

this works for sure in offline mode, but I think the same goes for online

^above guys got you covered

Rocking that Quelaag's Fury Sword. So awesome.

There's a lot of good heavy gear.

I'm pretty sure you can find some Elite Knight gear in the forest (on the path to the
butterfly
boss. And you find lots of good stuff in Anor Londo and The Demon Ruins.

Just got to
Anor Lando.

Honestly this game is fucking amazing.

BTW, Giant Club +10 now. Two shotting everything in
Anor Lando
(but then again, I'm not using a shield)

I think most people stumble on to the Souls games. You read a lot of "I don't normally play this sort of thing" posts. The first game made this generation for me, completely out of nowhere.

If you have the drake sword just go to town on the first one and it should be dead before the second one lands. If you don't have it then, good luck!

oh wow, I had no idea that actually summoned him. neat. D-Drake Sword?

You skip all the enemies easily and go kill a gimmick boss. That part is a 3/10. If you decide to proceed on after the boss, it's a 11/10.

I was scared shitless of demons's souls from everything I read. People just have to give these games a chance and see if they like it. I recommende it to my best friend who was losing interest in video games and he has played it for 30 hours. In-fucking-sane.

Out of curiosity, is there an item or upgrade that allows for instant travel between bonfires you've visited?

Yeah it's there guarded by
two of those giants and four trees
.

Yep, pretty much. Around 30 hours in.

My brain is mush. How do I turn the soul of the
moonlight butterfly
into a weapon?

What are the requirements?

...and I gave the Blacksmith the divine ember. Should I have? : /

plasticpassion said:
Can someone explain humanity? What's its purpose?
With humanity, you can turn into a human (lol)
Benefits:
+ Can kindle bonfires with a humanity point
+ Can summon help from other players
+ Increased curse resistance / item drop rate
- Open to invasion from black phantoms (other players)

It...it kicked my ass. :P
Gimmick boss, you're not supposed to
go toe-to-toe with it :p. Find his gimmick and he's the easiest boss in the game.

I've got that, it's just really heavy. I may switch now that I have Havel's Ring. I really want to be under 25% though.

I'm progressing well, and the Drake Sword is treating me nicely however... I've got lots of weapons in my inventory and wondering if any of those would be a better choice upgraded. So excluding items that need rare material to upgrade, is there anything that's worth upgrading to go beyond my Drake Sword?

Also, I've done a little digging, but I ended up with that egg sac thingy on my head. So, iirc, there are some two-headed snakes I can farm or the egg monsters. Any tips on fighting/finding the former, and what's the best way to take out the maggot/larva-esque things that come from the egg monsters?

Who the FUCK designed this part in Anor Londo:
Seriously 2 fucking Black Knight Archers, on a tiny ass fucking ledge. If you block, you get pushed back so far that you fly off the ledge, if you dash up to try and attack one of them, the other one shoots you in the back, taking off 1/4th of my health and his bow is a fucking machine gun so by the time I stand up I've got another one in my back. Seriously fuck this part, I've tried it 8 times now shut off the game this is fucking stupid.

i wish i could play right now :(

is it possible to learn all schools of magic on your first playthrough, or is there any downside? i went with miracles but haven't bought a spell yet.
