Dark Souls PC 1080p. Confirmed, like, for real.

reading this again, it honestly sounds like he's just saying don't expect this to be like battlefield 3 pc compared with the console version. then again, I really want to get more japanese developers on pc so I'm probably indulging in a little wishful thinking.

At this point I don't even care. I just want the game on PC. If they say it will be better than the console version (which I could easily purchase), that's fine by me.

I wonder if they mean Advanced graphical settings or something. Maybe they'll just do "AA: Yes/No" kind of stuff.

Day One. Still my favorite gaming experience this gen, easy. Probably several gens actually.

Yep. Outside of the Mario Galaxies, which I'm very fond of, no console-based game from this gen that I've played approaches Demon's and Dark Souls.

That's what makes the notion of a poorly-optimized PC port for Dark Souls in particular so unfortunate. Could have truly been magical. I'm still hoping for the best.

Anyway, I think what we've all been expecting (or now hoping for) from the beginning is at least the quality of your average console port these days. Just the game with a bare minimum of graphics functions, like the Mass Effect PC ports but with controller support. It looks like there'es a chance we might end up with something resembling last gen-era PC ports.

the fact that from software is saying the raw power of PC hardware will sort of brute force the game into playing better is something i definitely foresaw.

will still buy.

It was poorly optimized on consoles if we're being honest. It'll be better on PC as long as they don't articially limit it.

It was, but there's a much lower standard for consoles :p

I already know how great the game is, but many will be playing it on PC for the first time, and first impressions are critical. Remains to be seen how many PC configs are able to brute-force it to a reasonable degree, if nothing else.

It won't take much for me to take the plunge. As soon as I hear that it isn't a complete train wreck, I'm in. I desperately want to play again but I'm waiting for this version and the new content.

I really tried to put in time with Demon's Souls, but I just couldn't get into it. If this Dark Souls port ends up being not terrible, I'll probably pick it up when it's on sale and give the franchise a second chance. Looking forward to hearing impressions from the people that pick it up on launch day.

What did you not like about DeSo? I can probably tell you if you'll like it.

I think maybe gaming sites should start hiring actual translators to help conduct the interviews so we don't get these engrish mysteries over adjustable resolution on a 3D 2012 PC game.

Same. I was really close to buying a 360 copy before all this PC petition stuff started, so I've been waiting long enough to play it that my standards are basically "as long as it's marginally better than the console versions".

Only buying if under 50USD and 60fps.

I don't care if the community has to do that legwork. They don't deserve money for a sloppy port.

No buy, no future ports. If people do buy there's a chance Namco either:

A) HEY! They bought it! Let's do a better job next time guys!

or

B) Haha, fools! They bought it, we obviously don't have to put in any effort!

Yep i got From Dust, LA Noire, Bully, and Alice and 30FPS is not acceptable, no matter what anyone ever tells you. Lucky with the latter 2 you can unlock the FPS to 60.

I don't care if this is a 'test' for Dark Souls 2, i don't support shit.

GFWL alone was enough no buying it, but above GFWL it look like it's a shitty unoptimized port too.

buying this game will only mean more shitty GFWL ports for us.

I must be blind but I can´t understand the 60 fps fetish from pc gamers... I can see the difference in a fighting game but darksouls? 30 fps is enough...

You have low standards then...

It probably takes more effort to implement an FPS lock so not supporting higher framerates makes little sense. Unless the game is coded so poorly that actions/events are tied to the framerate or some shit.

Damnit, forgot GFWL.

I think I will hold strong and not support this unless it ditches GFWL on Steam AND under 50USD with 60fps.

I can't imagine it being any worse than the console version and I've held out on buying it this long so I'm still going to get it...unless it's $60 or something crazy.

You might as well say you'll only buy if it can make Magic fairies pour out of your butt.

As long as it ends up being the superior experience on my PC to the console versions, i'm happy yo buy it again.

I have a PC and most things run at 60 fps here... still don´t see much difference from the consoles.

I can kind of understand this... I think with most TVs 30 FPS tend to look a bit smoother then 30 FPS on a monitor.

OK. I don't believe that for a second. But I do believe that YOU believe that

The main thing for me when it comes to 60 FPS is how responsive things feel. I constantly over swing my aim when playing on consoles, but even the same game, with a controller feels 100% better on the PC running at 60 FPS.

Anyhow... this whole thing with this game has been pretty disappointing. I was really excited when the announcement first happened. Now I'm essentially only buying to support the endeavor (and I might change my mind if the port runs like crap on all hardware).

When was this suppose to come out? Any media at all other then those crappy screenshots that were released a while ago?

You can at least bank on that with the added res and stable frame rate. But we have little until the game is out and we can see for ourselves.

I thought it was in relation to the framerate? It's going to run smoother on PC than the console versions, but most likely not a solid 60 until PC's can just bruteforce peformance out of the engine.

Edit: News above. HOORAY. I have a 5800 series :D

feel bad for from software

they're in such a tough spot now with the diehard console gamers and the pc gamers

Push and pull kind of thing

So our fears about this port are being shot down one by one. Good to hear! I'm not counting on GFWL being removed, but it would be icing on the cake.
