Spike, I recently watched the last couple of Young Justice episodes stick with it the show has an early JLA feeling to it an entire season devoted to a main arc.

I'm not too familiar with the series, so what do you mean by "Young Justice proper?"

If I'm not mistaken, this Aqualad was created just for the show.

By proper, he means when they aren't about establishing the characters and the team dynamic, which really has been the thrust of the first 7 episodes.

In the last several weeks I've been watching the DC animated movies. My two favorites so far is Batman: Under the Red Hood and Wonder Woman, personally I prefer Wonder Woman movie more. Also surprised by how brutal it was compared to the other DC animated movies, there's implied rape and beheadings. Didn't really care for the Green Lantern movie felt it was a bit boring. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies had really bad pacing, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse was "okay" had some good fight scenes though. All Star Superman was pretty bad for me it wasn't emotionally invested in it something was lacking. Superman: Doomsday was eh whatever very forgettable nothing special.

Haven't seen the Justice League movies gotta finish my rewatching of the TV series.

Rankings:

1. Wonder Woman
2. Batman: Under the Red Hood

Don't really care much for the other films while those two above is something I would like to rewatch again. Here's hoping the Justice League movies are great.

While the sales for Wonder Woman weren't impressive at first it did continually sold steadily to eventual have actual good sales even better than the Justice League movies and Green Lantern, Batman: Gotham Knight and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Here's hoping they'll reconsider on making a Wonder Woman sequel animated movie. Also if the Wonder Woman Live action TV series happens it might make them consider making another animated movie just like Green Lantern is getting another movie despite having bad sales for it's first animated movie.

Oh, I will definitely be sticking with it. I know it is going to be good.

The thing is, at least to me, Planet Hulk is the best of the Marvel movies, and I enjoy it, but still would be classes below the DC stuff so imagine the other movies.
Hulk vs Wolverene.

I have not seen any of the Marvel DTV's so I'm a bit out of the loop on them. Does anyone know anything about Thor: Tales of Asgard that's coming out this May? My wife is a sucker for all things Thor and if this is supposed to be good, I'd like to pick it up for her.

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights trailer for those who've yet to see it. I did not like Gotham Knights and I cringed when I heard this would tie-into the movie but this looks pretty damn good!

My ranking of the movies thus far:

1. Wonder Woman
2. Batman: Under the Red Hood

5. Batman/Superman: Public Enemies
6. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
7. Justice League: The New Frontier
8. Batman: Gotham Knights
9. Superman Doomsday
10. all-star superman

If you want me to count the shorts collection then it'll be numbered 5.5

I just saw Crisis on Two Earths, and it was amazing. They really did a marvelous job with Owlman. Dwayne McDuffie did a great job with the writing. It's a little bittersweet knowing that he wrote the next JL animated movie. :(

Anyway, i can't wait for Year One. Hopefully that'll turn out great.

I don't know if Spike is going to do a thread or not but until then, Batman: Year One is out in the wild, and checked it out.

It is the most faithful adaption of a comic yet, which is both a positive and a negative When you factor in how much of the comic is internal monologues, and not spoken dialog.

Also the ending, is a bit flat

Batman Year One: Only problem I had with the animated movie was Bruce's voice and Catwoman's involvement which I felt was added just for fanservice. She really didn't add much to the movie. She was just "grr Why Batman getting all the attention! grr". Maybe she had more of a story in the comic?

Jim Gordon: Year One was amazingly badass. I had less of a problem with Bruce's voice considering he was closer to 25 than Batman's normal age. Kevin Conway would not have worked.

I thought Selina's scenes were spot on. Her short that begins the disc made me want a weekly Catwoman series. Wow.

I think they wanted to tone down her presence from the comic, where she is basically a prostitute with a heart of.. well whatever

Also, I think they justified her lesser presence by including the short

My issue with Batman Year One.

Gordan had a son...I am confused.

He showed up in the last few issues of Detective and has been talked about before that
He is a nutjob psycho

Finally watched Under the Red Hood.

I'm just blown away. This is easily my favorite DC animated movie, surpassing Mask of the Phantasm and Gotham Knight (although I have to rewatch that last one), and the others (although I haven't seen Wonder Woman or the GL movies yet.) Probably my favorite non-Nolan Batman film.

Such a crazy emotional thrillride, absolutely perfect pacing, great voice cast, fantastic action choreography... this had it all.

Two minor complaints:
When green underoos Robin showed up I thought it was Dick, and they were trying to draw a comparison between Dick and Jason (which in my mind explained Nightwing's otherwise extraneous glorified-cameo in this movie.)

And two: I kinda wanted to see Bruce be more guilty about Jason. It came out a bit at the end but it was really subdued compared to what I was expecting. In fact, the movie didn't really focus on Batman at all, even though it was ripe to. Maybe that would have messed up the pacing. I was like four stones away from being really emotionally riled up at the end, with a bit more focus on Bruce it would probably have only been one. (To use a roundabout analogy.)

Anyways, 10/10, perfect, Oscar-worthy, etc. That's about all I got in my hyperbole bag.

So close to having a perfect ending, but as always unsatisfying.

I really thought it would have been best if
Jason turned the gun on himself for the whole "him or me" thing, would have made just as much if not more sense. It kinda didn't resolve which life Batman values more, I guess in his value system since he can't kill, all life is basically equal. But would he let Jason kill himself, and have to deal with his death again?

I thought the last scene was pretty good though. Pretty dark stuff if you think about it.

Has anyone seen Justice League Doom, yet? I'm curious if it's any good.

And once again Tim got the shaft... Jason stealing his last Robin costume wholesale. It's an excellent costume, one of my favorites, but it feels... wrong when Dick or Jason wear it. Like a huge reason why Tim chose those colors doesn't apply to those two.

Bought every DCAU blu ray recently. They look really good. Glad I invested in them because all of these movies are awesome.

Just finished watching Superman vs The Elite. The animation was weird and Superman looked like ass but I really liked the theme of the movie.

Totally current with how everyone feels about Superman now. You know, how he's "lame".
