Dead or Alive 6 - Jiggle Physics Are Back!

Glad this bullshit didn't ruin Soulcalibur VI. Still haven't bought that game yet, so I have at least one fighter to look forward to since I'm passing on DoA6 and MK11.

I think most of people will still buy this game, despite surgery thing.

The way I see it is DOA6 is still on the same level of sexy as DOA4 more or less. I liked that game and the games before it so I'm still buying DOA6.

For me, DOA5 is just fine. Comparing DOA4 to DOA5 the jump in fan service is pretty extreme. If it really did hurt sales of the game then I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to dial it back to closer to the levels in previous games. It just depends how much the general audience cared for or against the extreme fan service and how many fans they might lose by taking a step back. I really hope their decisions were made with the goal to get more sales and not because of moral obligation.

I can blame them for bad PR. They should never have mentioned anything about what's appropriate in the current climate and moral standards. They should have said something like DOA5 was a game with 60% fan service 40% game and with DOA6 they wanted to step it back to be more in line with the older games in the series with 50% fan service 50% game.

I don't know, I still have mixed feelings and I'm trying my best to justify my purchase here. I too don't want the series to end here but I also wouldn't feel bad seeing this game get review bombed.

I hope the game ends up being a full DOA game that doesn't take steps back from DOA5. All I see is negative coverage of it. The more I read the DOA subreddit the more it looks like fans like me are not convinced it's worth a preorder. I see articles about Shimbori's "toning down" statements trending.

The game is close to launch and I still don't know what direction it's going in. I won't cancel my (now 2nd) preorder yet but I'm not happy Shimbori is still trying to sell this game to writers who keep attacking it. I will cancel if it's likely that DLC costumes in the future will not be sexier than waht has already been shown.

It makes me wonder how much emphasis is going to put on the fan service in reviews or if there will be articles calling him a liar for claiming it was changing due to social standards that deem sexy unacceptable.

From what I understand DOA5 was Koei Tecmo's second best selling first party title after Nioh, collaboration titles with other companies like Hyrule Warriors excluded, since the merger of Koei and Tecmo. They reported 1.35 million for all retail versions of DOA5 a few years ago, which is below DOA3 and 4 but those games also were marketed by Microsoft unlike DOA5, however they more than made up for that, and then some, with the FTP version anyway which surpassed 10 million downloads. They also openly stated the female bikini costumes were also the only DLC's that were really selling well.

There is really no signs that this is being done because of hurt sales, just Shimbori's comments on wanting to appeal to more people. Plus like I said nothing bad happened to Tekken 7's sales for its increase in lewdness.

Also in regards to DOA4, lets not forget the endings had naked mermaid Kasumi, pole dancing Christie, Hitomi running around her apartment in her undies, Lei Feng being accidentally motorboated (then clearly killing the dude :messenger_tears_of_joy:), etc. and DOAX2 was planned for the following year, and not as a Asia only exclusive. DOA4 still had some good stuff, especially for a rushed launch window game (DOA3 you strait up needed a OXM disc for the alt costumes since it was so rushed for launch), and for DOA2 Ultimate they really went all out.

You make some good points there, if the story mode in DOA6 is super tame that would be really lame. Hopefully they will learn from this without going bankrupt if the sexier versions really do sell better.

I tend to disagree with notions DoA6 is returning the series' fansevice to a state prior to DoA5, as this perspective is too often skewed by the years DoA5 spent selling skimpy DLC outfits. Of course, DoA4 has significantly less costumes, but it was also a game, where the clothes were tailored to the individual character. DoA5, and by extension DoA6, turned everyone into a dress-up doll, with certain outfits only looking as good as the base character model's proportions. For instance, Kasumi's traditional outfit in DoA4 is fit well to her body and sports ample cleavage, whereas in DoA6 the same outfit seems to be doing a better job of covering-up her chest. Right now, DoA6 is continuing down its predecessors path, where sexy means taking clothes away, instead focusing on how characters look in each outfit; and this can be a bit of a problem, when the base character models have been toned down.

Unrelated, I'm beginning to question if the reason there's no jiggle slider in the game is actually related to lacking capabilities in the DW9 engine. The girls' chest don't really bounce & jiggle, so much as simply bob up-and-down to slightly different degrees. I wonder if the DW9 tech isn't able to offer the type of incremental adjustment that would warrant retaining the longstanding feature. Either way, I think the jiggle looks kinda crappy.

About to do some live gameplay here

Looks like they've disabled jiggle for this tournament.

Well, like I said above, this stage event was for esports, so I can't pretend to be disappointed. At this point, what you see is what you get.

Otherwise, the big announcements were: a $100k world-tour tournament; a full demo coming for PS4 Plus & XB Gold members from February 23rd to 24th; a crossover with KoF, featuring Mai and an unannounced character; and a season pass with 62 costumes (includes 5 outfits for each of the KoF characters). No price was mentioned on the stream for the season pass.

Based on this Famitsu article, it seems like Mai and the other KoF character will also be part of the season pass.

26 of the costumes in this first season pass are the Happy Wedding set:

Also part of the pass are the below costumes for NiCO and Nyotengu; based on this Famitsu article, it seems like the below are added benefits and not included as part of the total costumes.

:::edit:::
And for those that didn't watch, after the main stream, there was another segment sponsored by the computer company Mouse, featuring two gravure models and Shimbori pimping the game's deluxe costumes. Maybe not surprisingly, the most prominent aspect of the costumes are not their bland designs, but rather what appears to be their more excessive jiggle. So yeah, "F" this game.

Also, the Twitch and YouTube version of the segment suddenly ended, but going by the stream over at OpenRec.tv, it seems they merely cut the broadcast, when the focus shifted to selling Mouse products (meaning nothing appears to have been blocked/censored).

Well good luck on selling your more conservative DLC costumes and male costumes after repeatedly telling interviewers those didn't sell when you did them in DOA5.

Excited to see Mai back, but a 3rd DLC character from DOA5 being resold as DLC yet again, freaking meme of a company. My bets for second SNK character is either Athena or Kyo.

I hope the demo gives me a clearer idea of if this game is for me. They couldn't be so stupid as to present a toned down version of the game without the sexy costumes or full breast bounce in the demo. My purchasing decision will be based on it.

Mai better be Mai with big breasts and lots of jiggle or there will be lots of blow back, lol~

I wonder what the season pass price will be?

If they really wanted to get into the Evo scene with a "cool" fighter premise I think the smartest choice would to have just made a new fighter from the ground up, instead of getting themselves into this crazy situation where literally no-one is pleased. Its astounding. I personally can't stand e-sports, but this is pretty funny.

As for the aforementioned KoF colab I'm glad Mai is back but she shouldn't be behind a paywall. Hell nobody should. Ah well. I wonder who the other character will be.

Looks like some mildly NSFW shenanigans from the stream with women bouncing their breasts around while talking about the game as seen here~

Got to love that this results in an apology but violence is all good!

I personally find that stream to be absolutely glorious! Man what's wrong with the world today... At the very least thanks for sharing the link lol.

But this has nothing to the game and those are both females doing that not even a male grabbing them... and it isn't even revealing costumes just cleavage shown just like any ordinary day in America.

It's crazy to see that result in such an over-the-top apology. It actually looked like they were having fun. Footage like this was making me happy!

I love the way Japan doesn't demonize or attack people for an interest in mild sexy fun. Shimbori has an uphill battle with esports, lol.

I think my interest really came back for the game, though. This seems like the real DOA. This is where the game is comfortable.

Fighting game developers shouldn't give into the people who don't buy or play games. In fact I'll be sure to get 6 like I did 1-5. Busty women is a DoA tradition and removing that is like removing blood and gore from Mortal Kombat.

LOL what the heck. The ultimate flip flop from a no jiggle tournament to lewd poses paused in-game and an IRL jiggle physics lesson.

This game has so much craziness surrounding it.

What was/is the freakin' add that's what I want to know or see, the West is suffocating itself.
Nvm I think I found it? Whoop di fucking doo, even a female announcer is having fun...based Japan.

You can watch the whole thing here with chat starting at around 2h 25m

This was the cause? Really? Fuck EVO....

I am so glad Japan exist and these girls can have a fun time on the stream^^

You can't tell Yuka to not to be proud of her butt.
Plus they have been involved with the Japanese FGC for years now. They aren't some random gravure idols that give no shits about fighting games.

Right....
So Japanese people being themselves and not caring what others around the globe might think.
EVO in all it's stupidity feels the need to go end the show early? and then goes on to apologize?
All that while it's called Evo Japan, how's that for being disrespectful towards Japanese culture or rather not respecting it.

This is exactly the issue why DoA6 is like that in it's current form and/or with the default outfit, talk about being stupid.

I just noticed during the apology clip......

You might have to turn your speaker up a bit but if you listen in really hard and focus near the bottom of the screen,
You can just about hear the moment his penis falls off.

Ι also feel offended by soyboys that keep chugging some more soy milk one of their fathers bought him, can I get an apology?

My son and I had out viewing experience ruined by this filth. We tuned in for some wholesome decapitation and impalings, but instead, we were exposed to the traumatizing spectacle of gravity and breasts.

Our day has been ruined, and now I have to explain why women should be ashamed of their bodies to him all over again.

The sad part is that one of the girls IS a part of the Fighting Game Community and could probably kick the ass of all those snowflakes in any fighting game.

According to OAG, her name is Yuka Kuramochi, she is a gravure idol who is actually really active in the FGC. She regularly streams SF5, and has a lot of game shit on her twitter. Also she posts a lot of pictures of her ass. Her streams are even titled "Ass Craftsmen at work!" or something. She's on twitter.

Her cosplaying as Rainbow Mika.

Some of her artistic artwork art! For art reasons...

Oh boy, the comments about this on the other forum are all kinds of fucking hilarious! I especially find it crazy how much hate they have for the two women doing the announcing. Guess it would be better if they just were fired and never allowed to do it again? SMDH.

But is he still not buying the game even after the lewd stuff possible in the game showcased in this video? >.>

Sorry, never buying the game, ewspecially after how the director betrayed me the actual base multiple times.
And how donwgrade the sexiness is in comparison to other games.

It's a wonder that they can't work out how it's not about protecting waman anymore. It's become about protecting the narrative.
